The weight is not so bad. The hard part for me is just getting used to the size.
That for me sums-up the main thing you should consider if you've not spent any time with a 15/16" MBP. If you're never going to work on the move with it, or if its just going to be very occasionally, its probably not a big thing, but if you need to use your laptop everywhere, on the move, the larger form factor may not be for you. It can be a real pain just because of the amount of space it will take up on any surface.

Love that screen though!

Sounds like if you’re used to the size/ heft of the retina (2012-15) models these will be little different, but if you have a Touch Bar (2016-19) 15” it’s a noticeable difference, and slightly less so from a 2019 16”. Reassuring for me as I get on fine with a 2015…

I didn't hesitate to purchase the 16" model coming from a 2017 15" MBP. I am a graphic designer and I love the additional screen real estate (previous MBP before the 15" was a 13" MBP). I'm 39 and maybe my eyesight isn't what it used to be but I get really fatigued looking at a 13" screen for too long. I do 80-90% of my work connected to two 27" monitors at my desk, but portability is also important to me as well.

All of that said, the weight of the new 16" model seems to be the same (or close enough that I don't care) as my 2017 15" MBP. I was thrilled to see the HDMI and SD card slots return along with magsafe as well as 21 hour battery life. THAT'S RIGHT 21 HOUR BATTERY LIFE! Okay, maybe for my unique usage it may only be 10-15 hours of battery life but that is still incredible to me. This computer is a TAD on the chunky side but it is still a beautifully designed machine. The thickness doesn't seem excessive to me and I probably would have been fine with it being even thicker or heavier in order to get all of the ports, incredible performance and 21 HOUR BATTERY LIFE. This computer is a dream machine to me and if you are used to using 13" laptops then maybe you should see one in person before purchasing but if you have used the 15-16" MBP's of the past, you will be pleasantly surprised.
