Oh lawdy the 4S was disappointing and simply not worth the upgrade. Just a speced-up 4. You can say the 5 is a speced up 4S, but that's exactly what I wanted. Big issues were (1) LTE, (2) faster processor, and (3) lighter/better design. Couldn't care less about Siri.

I'm actually most excited about the improved camera. After that -- the faster processor. Siri and larger screen come in at a bit more distant 3rd and 4th.

Same here, I cant wait to start taking pictures. I want a Canon Dx1 so bad, but that's another story for another thread for another forum....:D

so i guess the consensus is that the iphone 4 button has ~2yr lifetime..lol

looking forward to some new headphones too..(they cant be any worse than the old ones)
Not really. I got my 4 a month or so after release; I had to wait for my otterbox defender case. Like applejuiced says, it could be wear, faulty button or something else. I've also been jb since I got my phone too.

Andy Ihnatko did say the new buds were much better than the old stock. I can't remember how they compared to ear buds of comparable price.

My home button has also been plagued on my iPhone 4. I am looking forward to this upgrade.

-A6
-4" Display
-Better screen quality
-New EarPods
-Improved Camera
-1080p video recording
-720p front camera
-Siri
-Improved RAM
-Thinner
-Lighter
-White this time instead of black :)

Speaking of home buttons, has anyone gotten theirs repaired locally and at what cost? I'd like to get mine, and my power button, repaired before selling. Waiting for a price from a shop.

My launch day iPhone 4 can also be added to the unresponsive home button list. It has been getting progressively worse for the last few months. It may be a little odd, but having a working home button is the thing that has me most excited for the arrival of my iPhone 5.

Here are the other features that I find most important:

1) Speed (both LTE data and the A6)
2) Aluminum Back
3) Larger Screen
4) Better Battery
5) Better Camera

I'm also upgrading to 64GB and I decided on getting the white iPhone this time around.

the common unresponsive home button is a nuisance and i'm looking forward to the larger screen, lte, and speed :) camera too since the 4's camera isn't as great as the 4S. and siri since the 4 didn't have it

good news about the home button...from grubers review

iPhone 5 in my hand, this talk of micron-precision, fine watch craftsmanship, and the computerized selection of best-match inlays sounds not the least bit ********ty or blustery. It simply sounds like an explanation of the level of obsession that it takes to create a mass-produced device that feels this, well, nice. It even feels as though they’ve put some serious work into the iPhone’s one historical weak spot: the home button.1

and from the same review...i found a link to a interesting article on how to fix the home button!

for those of us who bought the black on launch day..its been quite a while for one phone.

after reading earlier that the iphone4 was launched 27 months ago..im pretty amazed at the fact that i still have the same phone....and that it still looks like its brand new (besides home button issues)

I wish the iPhone 5 didn't have a physical button. I've had mine since day one (not jail broken) and its getting to be a real pain. Roll on Friday for more speed, Siri, better camera and a new home button!

Mostly just looking forward to having a phone that isn't totally screwed up. I got my 4 in July '10 and it's been really bad these past few months. I can't get it to sync most of the time, I have to hard reset it to get the 3G connection to work if it's been more than six hours since the last time I used it, nothing can connect to personal hotspot, proximity sensor is dying, and battery is shot. No home button problems though, lol.

Other than that, it's the LTE, the screen size, the form factor, and the camera, in no particular order. Turn-by-turn nav and the hardware speed are secondary. I actually don't have that much of a problem with the 4's speed when it's working right, but a faster phone will be nice.

Got mine and GF phone from Verizon and both are home buttons work fine. The only time my GF has problems is when she's using that big otter box case. I don't think it's hitting the home button correctly.

Wirelessly posted

My home button was very very bad, having to press it multiple times to get it to work went to Apple and they said its no good, so the assistive touch feature was activated to help. Said I could upgrade early at a reduced price or buy out right. I chose to wait. Then I read about a trick, the rubbing alcohol trick.
Shut off the phone. Place a drop or 2 of rubbing alcohol on the home button and press it about 30 times. Do it again. I did it again a third time, wiped the phone down, turned it on, and viola! It works as good as new!!! I did this trick about 8 months ago and it still works good as new!
Oh, I missed the boat on the release date 5 preorder, so I'm going to try and do a walk in. If cant, no biggie, I'll get it later. Want LTE and bigger screen!

I posted the following in another thread about fixing my home button, hope it helps, it's as good as new now, responds every time.

I fixed mine with electrical contact cleaner. Powered the phone off, pressed the home button down, sprayed a bit in at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, then pressed down with my thumb and rotated the phone left and right as if trying to turn the button itself, then clicked it repeatedly until it started feeling better. Left it 5 mins to be sure the contact cleaner had evaporated and then powered on. Problem solved for me.

My iPhone is well and truly out of warrantee, so I didn't have a problem with trying this. I also blasted air at it with a compressor, around the home button and into the 30-pin port, which might have helped free up any dirt but that alone didn't fix it for me.

what upgraded features are you looking forward to the most on the iPhone 5...i feel like this is a significant upgrade for us iphone 4 owners.

my iphone has become unresponsive and the homebutton barely works..

im excited to have a brand new phone with crisp new home button..and im excited to see how fast it is compared to the 4.
im also excited to finally have siri...and the new maps will be great

so much to look forward to

Pretty much everything. Larger screen, Lte, thinner than my iPhone 4, better speakers. It's a needed upgrade for me as my 4 is on it's last legs and seems like a way better update than the 3G>3Gs and 4>4s upgrades.

i dont understand about the "home button" thing

iphone 4's home button can be easily fix using alcohol

i have the same home button issue as well, but the phone as a whole is very well taken care of. and I feel like I my phone knows that I upgraded because it has been getting worse since the pre-order lol.

Also, the speed and camera is very enticing.

1. Freshness feeling. After using the same phone for 2 years I feel a little bored and hungry for new experiences.
2. Larger display. More content, more possibilities. Maybe I'll start to read some books on the go. (Need to find out how to sync books among iPad and iPhone)
3. A6 / Speed. iPhone sometimes is getting slow. I'd love to get a new hardware that can do more.
4. Camera - iP5 camera comparing to iP4 is a breakthrough. It is good thing to have a good device which can capture what you like in good quality (photo/video)

so..you guys with unresponsive home buttons..are you jb?

i wasnt sure if my button issues had anything to do with the fact that mine is at the moment...but im starting to hear from many iphone 4 owners with crappy buttons

My iPhone 4 button was rubbish as well, but managed to fix it by replacing the button. There was a really good iFixit button replacement guide that did a great job, and only cost me £3 for the button.

Every iPhone 4 I have seen that has been used for some time has trouble with the home button. Apple made a significant improvement in that button on the 4S. The button is almost too easy to press sometimes.
I considered getting an iPhone 4 recently for someone on my account, but the issues with the home button was one of the biggest reasons I didn't.

Faster, LTE, Siri and a decent camera. The iPhone 4 camera is really showing age, hopefully the iPhone 5 lives up to the claim of better low light photos.
