Thanks for info but we all know differences between 14 to 16 Pro. What a surprise that when you upgrade after 2 years + , it will be bigger upgrade. Maybe next time try 4 year cycle and do not forget to post here every difference year by year.

Are we not considering that not everyone has a 15th Gen or even a 14th Gen iPhone. On average 61% of IPhone users keep their phone for 2 or more years. At my job all 9 of us have IPhones and I’m the only idiot that needs to upgrade yearly. Most of my workers are over 45 and still have IPhones with a home button. I could only imagine if I went from and IPhone 10 to this one. It would have been mind blowing.

Hubby and I got the 16 6.1”this year, 256GB. We are upgrading from an iPhone 11 (me and I will miss my lilac phone) and an SE 2nd Edition (hubby) so for us it’s a big upgrade. We tend to keep our phones between 4 and 6 years.

Came from a 14 pro max and feel like I gained a lot with the weight savings, usb c, screen size, titanium, and blazing fast processor.

You could also look at it like this:

If you were to find a 15 Pro in new condition for $800, is that a better deal than the 16 Pro for $1,000?

Agree with the main point, but sometimes, the previous gen at lower prices can be the better option for some customers.

As a 13 Pro Max owner the 16 Pro Max is a MASSIVE Upgrade. It’s all the 15 Pro Max owners who are upset posting that it’s NOT a Good Upgrade.

#1. it’s a bigger Display HELLO !
#2. 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 7500Mhz Vs the 15 Pro Max LPDDR5 RAM runs at 3200Mhz Hello !
#3. 4K HDR @120 FPS video, 15 Pro Max ain’t doing that.
#4. WIFI 7
#5. ARM 9.2 vs ARM 8.6 on the 15 Pro Max
#6. New Stronger Glass
#7. 48MP Ultra Wide faster camera with a dedicated button. The 15 Pro Max is 12MP Ultra Wide.

ill stop here it a massive improvemen.
All of this makes it so tempting to upgrade from my 14 Pro Max. The battery life has gotten a bit better with iOS 18 though.

well it's still a phone doing phone stuff. All the changes you have listed are incremental at best.

Every new release is incremental at this point, the days of mindblowing new tech are over unless you go for a chinese phone which most people aren't going to do.

I have a 15 and absolutely did not need a new phone, but the 16 is worth it to me for one reason- macro. I've missed that feature ever since I had to get rid of my 14 pro, I collect vintage watches and used macro all the time for movement photography. It sucked not having it, and I can't use pros anymore b/c Promotion triggers my migraines. The 16 is also the last iPhone I'll be able to use if the rumors about the base 17 getting Promotion turn out to be true.

My 15 is going to my mom who's had her 8+ since 2018, so she's REALLY getting an upgrade. Her earpiece quit working a couple years ago so her calls are on speakerphone and tbh that is solidly half the reason I gave myself permission to get a 16 lol.

The line/wait time at the store yesterday was crazy though. I didn't preorder since I had more than one device to trade in, so I had to just make a reservation and pray. I've never actually gone to an Apple store on launch day before and naively thought that my 6pm appointment meant I would be in the store buying my phone at 6 😂 I waited in line for about an hour, then the employee the door guy put me with said she was leaving after her current customer. I followed the door guy around the store for another 10 minutes, then he finally put me with the store manager who got me taken care of in about 15 minutes. I felt bad for the employees, everything was running very behind thanks to all the people who didn't bother to back up their data or were otherwise wholly unprepared for their appointments.

Lots of people are having trouble coming to terms with the fact that the smartphone is an established and mature product at this point. The days of big upgrades each year or even every two years are over. If I didn't care about having the max storage and top camera then I'd still use my iPhone 13 Pro.

These same people also complain that upgraded M series chips in the spec bump refreshes of the various Mac models aren’t enough of an improvement over the prior generation to justify upgrading (as though the majority of Mac and PC users don’t keep their machines for years on end).

I got the 16 Pro to replace my aging 13 Pro and I’m happy with my decision. And I’m sure I’ll be happy with whatever upgrades Apple has ready for the 18 or 19 Pro.
