Today I got a replacement (retail box) from China, opened the box and bang, I counted 7 scuffs... now I'm waiting for a another replacement also shipping from China...

Yah... me too, just opened replacement I got that's in a retail box (wk38) shipped from China. And it is heck a lot worse than my original one (wk34). I couldn't believe my eyes. Fresh out of the box, in dim light, it already seem like QC process involves robot test arm that's plugging and unplugging the lightening cable 100 times/minute and another one for headphone jack. Both connector jacks show silver underneath the black on ~25% of circumference. On top of that... during boot up, I can see back light bleeding through parts of screen on the top. Needless to say, I called them right after for another replacement. They said I have to ship back the original before they'll initiate another return (retail box from the factory). Then again, this morning I read that some people were promised a retail box but got white box instead. So... I don't know... Not so confident that I'll be getting another reatil box.

My replacement was due to be delivered tomorrow but tracking info says flight was cancelled beyond UPS' control...

Sorry to hear that my friend... I feel your frustration. Now, on top of blaming Apple and/or FoxConn, now we can add UPS to the mix, any bets for FedEx?

thanks I don't really mind because I'm not shipping my defective iPhone 5 until this one arrives :)

It doesn't look like my local apple store is going ever have a replacement for my black iPhone 5. for those that used the advanced replacement option, how long was the hold on your credit card for? I realize all of this is based on how soon the iPhone is sent back to them, I'm just trying to get a general idea.

Received Advanced Return replacement phone today. Had high hopes to replace my broken power button phone with this one. Promised new, but came as a white box replacement - seal was broken on the white box prior to receipt. Week 36 DN.

Huge ding on the back of the phone. Called and was on and off hold with AppleCare for 50 minutes. Was ultimately told that they would be able to send me another replacement - with the corresponding CC hold. Found the solution to be unacceptable, but I was courteous the entire time. Final answer was setting up a Genius Bar appointment - it was also my least favorable option going into the phone call. Apple is really full of it these days both with iPhone 5 QC and shoddy customer service - different messages being passed on to customers depending on which way the wind is blowing.

When I requested a replacement, it shipped on a Friday for Monday delivery. Came in the same white box the Apple "Genius" bar gives you, phone only, week 38. I had a hold placed on my credit card so I could keep the current one. When it arrived it was scuffed quite a bit on the top sides where the antenna breaks are.

Sent it right back and called my senior level rep for another replacement. The problem is sending it back to Elk Grove, CA, they STILL haven't processed the return, even though they have had it two days now. My rep is off tomorrow, so latest he can send another will be Friday when he is back.

But it sucks because the hold stays on my card. The distribution center needs to process my return. I'm sure they have a bunch of them to go through. I'm holding little hope that they have any that are free of damage. I'm about to give in the towel and live with it or return exchange or return it before my 30 days are up which I marked on my calendar.
