to the person that was told by amd that the 4850 is made by apple. When I installed the latest windows 7 catalist drivers the log file generated said the manufacturer of the 4850 in the imac is ati not apple.

I ordered the 3.06 on 3/29, shipping is set for 5/4 delivery 5/8. No change in anything yet. I am in California.

No, it makes no sense at all to put two distinctly different types of products under one label and if someone were looking for PCI-E cards installed in any computer looking at the PCI branch in whatever OS you are using doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It makes sense because it's the place to find them! By your logic we should just stare at the screen hoping that a PCI-E card section just pops up, and refuse to look anywhere else for them. Going by your analogy, if the wiper fluid was put with the pepsi in the supermarket, because Apple put them there, you refuse to look in the liquids section. You keep staring at the cleaning section, hoping they'd appear even though they never will.


Listen, I'm not the one who wrote system profiler. If you think that there should be a PCI-E card section, and by the sound of it you really do, then go file feedback with Apple. Arguing the point with some random people on the internet will not get you want you want. You're wasting your time.
 
Is it normal that 9 hours after receiving the shipment notification, Fedex's tracking system still gives me "Not Found"?
It only shows "No information for the following shipments/FedEx Office orders has been received by our system yet. Please try again later or contact Customer Service."
My order is shipped by Fedex Freight East. Usually, when do you start seeing any update in tracking system? :confused:

I ordered my imac 3/16. It ships 4/20 with delivery of 4/24, still Not Yet Shipped. I am in California.

order update

I ordered a 2.93 with the ATI card on March 6th. It shipped on April 13th and is en route, Fedex says it will arrive on the 17th. I am in Western Massachusetts, USA. Let's all hope our new machines don't have the freezing problem!

You know I had that experience on other things I ordered that were shipped by Fed-ex... they are very bad about updating their tracking. What I usually do in this case is give Fed-Ex a phone call and talk to an agent and give them the tracking and they can usually pinpoint it better. It could be that the website was not updated yet. They are known for this. That is why I love UPS. They are always on top of the tracking thing.

The shipment notification said it will be delivered on 17th. So excited, can't wait for my first mac. :D

Thanks M. Jakey for your order information. However I will not be adding your name to the list because it is for people who are stuck in limbo, not having their iMacs shipped yet. Since yours shipped then yours does not apply to the message. However We all appreciate the information so we know more about who is getting their orders and when. Thanks so much for the information. And last thought let us pray that none of us has that freezing problem when we do get them.

If it is your 1st Mac, you will love it. especially the one you ordered. I wish mine was being delivered that soon. I am very excited to get mine and it is my 2nd Mac. I am slowly but surly converting all my pc's in the house over to all Macs.
 
Is the holdup with shipping due to the keyboard? I did not op for the keyboard with the numbers keypad since we already had one of those sitting unused. Probably not, but just a thought.

Apple told me yes it will delay it a little bit for the keyboard as they did not know that many people would opt for the num keyboard. So this is part of the problem but not all of the problem. I opted for the Num Keyboard. I did not care for the looks of the non-num keyboard.

Delivery : Regular one, no "shipping next working day"
Tracking : Ordered on 10th of April, shipped on 11th of April in Shanghai, delivered on 16th of April here in France.

Still can not believe it but the box is sitting right next to me. Will have to wait 10 hours to unpack it and make my first steps in mac world. Still have the fear that Apple went wrong and sent me a GT120 or 130 in place of ATI 4850 though.
