What you have though is members who see this poll using it to suggest almost 50% of iPhone 4 users have a problem. I’m not sure what the real % is, but one way these results are skewed is by the simple fact that many posters come here to find out about their iPhone problems. So, the real % lies somewhere between almost 0% and 50%.

Actually, I believe it's 100% of iPhone 4 owners have the potential defect, and anywhere from 0% to 50% are affected based on their local wireless tower configurations.

Actually, I believe it's 100% of iPhone 4 owners have the potential defect, and anywhere from 0% to 50% are affected based on their local wireless tower configurations.

This appears to the be the most likely scenario, irrespective of whether this defect is caused by hardware, software, or a combination thereof. No phone will exhibit the signal loss in areas with excellent coverage, while every phone will have the problem in areas with weaker coverage.

When you've eliminated the impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

The ONLY way for that poll to mean everything is if it takes into account EVERY SINGLE iphone 4 owner

This poll doesn't mean "nothing". It means about half of MacRumors.com readers are affected.

With all due respect it does not. This can not be assumed to be anything more than what it is, a poll where anyone can say anything they want about the reception and how it affects them.

Now if you were going to post results by region and by length of time the poster has been a member of ts forum then I would certainly take the poll more seriously.

Having said that i am not advocating in any way that this issue does not exist. I know it does, I have replicated it at times and other times have not been able to replicate it no matter how hard I try.

I have read quite a bit about this here and other forums, Apple included, also read the news stories and know that there are lots of people with this issue and that it appears, believe it or not, there are people who are not experiencing this issue.
Because there has been no official word from Apple, and I for one do not count these "maybe they are real, maybe they are not" emails from the CEO, regarding this all one can do is either join the hysterical or join the logical.

Joining the hysterical means in essence allowing conjecture, hypothesis, rumors, conspiracy theories, opinions, which are mostly personal rule your response to the issue.

Joining the logical means allowing facts to rule your response and the facts are, there is an issue that is well documented by hundreds if not thousands now, with more to no doubt follow, that this has obviously been brouht to Apple's attention with just as many emails complaints, customers calling support and the worldwide attention brought by way of the Internet and media.

That's pretty much all there is right now.

Apple will have to address the issue and they will do so whenever they have addressed the issue and figured out how to rectify it, whether it be a hardware or software issue, and when they do this we will know how to proceed.

Until then, it seems to me unless you are part of the design team, or have some direct connection to Apple and speak on behalf of the company, it's all just conjecture and personal opinion, nothing more.

There would be no reason to beleive Apple would do anything other than correct the problem in some way. People have faith in their integrity, their products and their service. Why in the world would they want to jepordize this?

There is really too much at risk here for them to do anything other than that Until that time whenever it does come everyone will just have to be patient and wait for them to respond in an official corporate fashion.

There is nothing more anyone can do! So all the bantering, all the theories, all the complaining, all the ridiculing and mocking, and all the thread starting, seem to just go on and on in an infinite hysterical loop unless ofcourse you choose to look at this in a more logical straightforward manner. Try to have some faith, it will be resolved. I know this is extremely hard for some, but give it a try!

Apple released a statement about it on Thursday.
