I am sorry, but every Samsung I've owned has been the biggest piece of **** as a mobile phone. Aesthetically, they're beautiful and their TouchWiz is an improvement over stock android, but I cannot end a call if the screen is locked, the phone signal is always lower/does not automatically reregister on the network. I want a phone with applications, not a computer with a phone.

Typical way Android users see Apple users.

It's a mighty broad brush, ain't it? :p

All you suckas with your tiny screens! I ported iOS AND Android to my 55" plasma TV. Now I have a dual booting phone with a killer screen. Just waiting for the handtruck to be delivered so I can go mobile.

Can you still operate it one-handed? :D

I'm about 50:50 right now about getting a Note SIM-free and putting in a GiffGaff SIM with unlimited data.

I do actually really want the Note, but I can't see it being my main/only phone. It's just too big for my day to day usage.

When I first watched the video I thought it was a joke. You need a backpack to carry this thing around. Don't even get me started on the stylus.

There are only THREE phones (and non-iPhones) this year that interest me the most. A battle between the #1 vs #2 phone manufacturers in the world and possibly the Top 2 most popular mobile OSes in the world by 2013 once Nokia spearheads WP's popularity all over the planet.

Nokia Lumia 800 - Because while all WP phones look generally the same, the design of the L800 really stands out from the pack. I would throw in the N9 here as well, but I know that will never arrive in the U.S. and if you want it, expect paying over $500-$600 unlocked.

Samsung Galaxy Note - S-Pen is its secret weapon and Sammy did a good job marketing it. If you love to draw like comic book characters, anime, and caricatures, this becomes the ONLY choice for some artists. Pen is mightier than the sword as they say and let's hope it does get ICS by Q2 next year. Knowing Samsung, who knows? I remember joking with my parents how I don't know how to use a pen anymore after filling out several applications for a car. Everything is text or email. This could get practicing and getting my excellent penmanship back.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Because it gets ICS first and it is the latest NEXUS phone which means fast updates.

These are the only THREE standouts in a sea full of Android and WP sameness.

Yet, I am pretty sure the Lumia 800 will never make it in the States and we are left with the cheaper 710. Damn shame since I really want to see Nokia's Clear Black Display. But considering they only have a 1% market share here and still are #1 in the world, they don't seem to mind not catering to Americans. There is no evidence the Note arrives here either other than hearing it will be compatible to AT&T bands. And the Galaxy Nexus goes to a different carrier I am on. So AT&T is left with the iPhone 4S, some 2nd tier Androids, and the Samsung Focus S and Flash. The new WP phones are not exactly that enticing if you are coming from the original Focus similar to if you are upgrading from a iPhone 4 to 4S.

All three are phones mentioned above I won't mind having, and all three may not make it to my carrier. Out of the three, the Galaxy Note might have the best chance coming to AT&T considering the Dell Streak arrived in the same carrier last year, Samsung does bring its Galaxy S line to AT&T, and the Note shares similar 3G/4G bands. But it will take at least by next year (six months after release) by then that some folks will just end up waiting for the next iPhone.

That phone is huge!
the stylus is sort of neat with the buttons but I would probably lose it or hover use it.
the pausing music by placing your hand in front of the phone by using motion ux is also cool
BUT
its android so NO!

My watchlist goes:
-HTC Titan
-Galaxy Nexus
-Lumina 800
for much of the same reasons as yours. The only reason I'd pick the Titan instead of the Note is that I have a burning desire move to WP7, and the large screen is a big plus for me.

Big screen is a plus, but low res (as on Titan) is a turn off. The high-res on Galaxy Nexus looks like the deal. I will have to check it out in person to see if zooming in is unneeded when web browsing in portrait mode like with the "Retina Display".

Actually no, Apple isn't about giving that much to its sheep. Apple knows they give as little as needed and the sheep will never bite back. "Value" is not in the Apple dictionary....or in the sheep dictionary for that matter.
Value is highly subjective. The value Apple provides IMO is more than just features/$ which is all spec sheet racers seem to consider. People can be content with something without being sheep. The majority of consumers aren't looking for the newest, shiniest whistles and bells the same way you are. Again, that doesn't make them sheep.

It's funny. First it's "Duuuude, the Galaxy S II! I'm going to cum in my pants!"

Then a few weeks later...

"Duuuude, it's the Galaxy Nexus! I'm going to cum in my pants!"

Then a few weeks later...

"Duuuude, it's the Galaxy Note! I'm going to cum in my pants!"
There are people that are always looking for the latest thing. As always, consider the source.

It's funny. First it's "Duuuude, the [Inset device here]! I'm going to cum in my pants!"

Then later...

"Duuuude, it's the [Newer device]! I'm going to cum in my pants!"

Then later...

"Duuuude, it's the [Even newer device]! I'm going to cum in my pants!"

This is the pattern for anyone interested in tech. It just so happens that Android has a faster release cycle.

I'll consider purchasing something other than an iPhone when these other phones stop putting "Samsung" or "Verizon" or some other label smack-dab on the front of the device. Few people care who manufactured your Android phone and even fewer care who your carrier is. It's ****ing unsightly.

But then Apple will sue if they don't have a logo on the device.

Wow this phone is actually very intriguing. I am on the road 24/7 and have come to rely on my tablet (ipad now soon to be kindle fire). I hate that I have to carry a bag for the ipad, and that I don't have constant access to data when not in wifi. I wouldn't mind a phone this large at all. For me it may be just big enough to be productive, and jussst small enough to squeeze into my pocket.

I would also love to have a stylus for my sketches. I wonder if there is any pressure sensitivity?

I will keep my eye on this phone.
