It's kinda hard to make any kind of judgement about this iPhone 14 Plus when it literally came on the market today.

Let's not forget that people buy smartphones year-round. They'll walk into their carrier store next week... next month... three months from now... six months from now... etc.

And they'll see the iPhone 14 in two sizes... and iPhone 14 Pro in two sizes.

This is the first time you can get the largest screen without paying $1,100 for the Pro Max... so it'll be interesting to see how it does.

But at this moment... we can't really say much.

:p

I've purchased solely Apple electronics now for 20 years and can state with confidence that Apple always launches quality products loaded with modern technology. I don't doubt 14+ is any different. Clearly, Apple is attempting to satisfy a market segment with this phone. If you aren't in that segment, then it's not for you!
🤣 The 14 Plus is using a lot of the "modern technology" found in the 13.

The segment that Apple is attempting to "satisfy" are those clueless buyers who think the 14 and 14 Plus are all new when in fact it's really just a 13 in disguise. Clearly, I'm not in that segment.

I love apple, and our family has had over 30 iPhones. But Apple has become greedy the last couple of years, and customers are starting to notice.

Replacing the $700 mini with the $900 plus is not going well, is it?

As someone that tried a Pro Max and doesn't care about the camera, if I wanted a large phone, I would get the 14 plus. It is much much lighter and has the best battery life. You are getting 95% the same experience as the Pro, but a friendly form factor due to the weight and smaller camera bump.

Well... there's one "big" difference between the 14 Plus and last year's 13... screen size.

So curious how most users lean on the belief that the 14 Plus is unwanted or destined to be a failure. When that sentiment was sung about the 12/13 mini I understood it a bit more, because the market has been favoring larger phones for a decade, so even those of us who dreamed of the success of the mini would have done so on little more than a hope & a prayer.

But as others have said, the masses do not read forums. They walk into their local carrier store, are presented with phones based on (physical) size options, and they tend to pick the larger ones. I still think it'll boil down to the 14 Plus and the 14 Pro Max for the bestseller; and I'm sure that'll depend on how it's pitched to the masses in those stores. A $200 difference sounds like a lot, but they don't usually bring that number up in a carrier store.

Sure it's lighter, but saying it's "much much lighter" is a bit of an exaggeration. It's lighter by 1.31 grams ounces according to Apple. That's grams ounces, not pounds. 🤣

Huh? I found a 14PM in store day of release. They do have stock on release day.

It’s cute to see that a device you aren’t interested in is still effecting you at this level. It’s almost as if you lost sleep anticipating getting this post out this morning.
i don't get your comment, so you agreeing with him?

Pretty simple. His remark of “they must be flying off the shelves” is a smartsa** way of saying, if people can find the 14 Plus in store they already aren’t doing well in sales.

I’m simply stating, stores carry stock on release day. 14PM was a popular release and I still found one in store on release day.

Do I need to explain further? 👊😙👍

Exactly. Why buy the Plus when you can spend a little bit more and get the Pro with Dynamic Island and the ProMotion Display?
The reason why has been explained many times in different 14+ threads including this one. I’m guessing you’re just entering your first one and going off the cuff without exploration.

Fun Fact: The iPhone 14 plus is actually 3 grams lighter than this years 6.1 pro but in a bigger form factor precipitating a better balanced weight distributed phone. Should be more comfortable to handle. Sometimes just ergonomics is the sole reason

I’m assuming you’re swimming in money and can afford to loan some of these 14 Plus buyers the money to get the Pro? Nice! Let’s see some donations.

Oh, wait, some users don’t care about PM, DI and the extra camera features. They just want an iPhone with a bigger screen and lighter weight.

👊🙄👍

I have annually purchased the fully loaded new "Pro Max" model ever since there was a choice in sizes. That is the only new iPhone in my local family. I get the new one and then the trickle down process begins with my wife getting last year's model that is still under warranty. Then continuing down through the daughters.

Works for us.

I think smart phone fever cooled off around the mid-2010s. Most people I know just get new phones every 2-4 years, others are longer. Depends on your needs. I’ll be using my iPhone 13 Pro Max until the iPhone 16 (or 17), I really like it and it do fine for me until then.

The options to preorder online are far better than camping out and waiting, which I did once for the iPhone 5. The phone will sell pretty well, most people who use iPhone/iPhone Plus models aren’t (usually) the type to participate in these forums and social media about technology. Or talk about it at all. After the holidays, and before the next iPhone announcement, I’m sure the sales will probably be where they expect them to be for the Plus and the rest of the lineup.

Yup as usual Apple Haters first ones posting seconds after the release. “Apple is doomed” “no one wants it” “hard pass”….it’s pretty funny. Ya 1/3 the worlds population buying apple products are wrong and you people are right.

I am absolutely not an apple hater having exclusively buying only Mac computer/phone products for going on 2 decades, but this is by far the worst big product they've released since the Motorola iTunes phone.
