You mean they can rationalize their greed, which is let's face it, the whole enchilada.I'm going to generalize here, but many Chinese mainlanders have really strong patriotism to the motherland. So it might not even be about money. From their perspective, they're doing the right thing for the better of the motherland. Even some Chinese mainlanders who have been citizens of other countries (like the US) would still have strong patriotism to the mainland. Sometimes to a fault.
This is just a generalization from my part. It might not reflect the true motivation. But it's something to think about. Many Chinese are highly talented, especially in STEM, but many also have different set of core values than the usual western capitalism.
not greed necessarily. If this was a westerner, then pure greed might be the reason. It’s probably hard for a westerner to understand. Greed may play a part, but for some Chinese (citizenship origin, not ethnic/race), they would do anything to better the motherland. No matter where they are, whatever citizenship they have, their hearts belong to the mainland. You mean they can rationalize their greed, which is let's face it, the whole enchilada.
Yeah. It's a nice retirement plan!Well, just for fun: let’s say he got $10M from this XMotors company (that’s pocket change for such an endeavor), he pays $250K+fees, spends 10 years (maybe less with “good behaviour”), not using his own money all that time (since jail will maintain him)… he got $9M dollars left, and if put on some compounded interests endeavor potentially a whole lot more!
I don’t know you, but I know I won’t be having $10M+ in hand in the next 10 years (source: my previous 10 years say so).
Suddenly it’s looking like a deal for those willing to sacrifice years of their life that way 🤣
Are they actually doing that? Sure China's still growing rapidly economically & in many other areas, are they getting better though?not greed necessarily. Again, those outside China, especially westerners who valued capitalism and individualism more, might find it hard to understand.
Again, I’m generalizing. That doesn’t mean condoning specific actions. Seeing the perspective of others might make us learn and take precautions before hand. Are they actually doing that? Sure China's still growing rapidly economically & in many other areas, are they getting better though?
Nah this is just trying to find excuses for their dishonest conduct, I'm from a neighboring country with similar set of values & no way can I condone this!
Bit different, Xerox didn't have an employers contract and strict NDA in place with it's visitors. They were free to do what they wanted to. Harsh but true.Everything is fun and games until you steal the mouse from Xerox
EmojisApple was so far behind in the auto-driving game, what could he have possibly stolen of value? Car color schemes?
Notch already exists... rear view mirror
I admire how brazenly confident you are about something of which there are nothing but rumors.Stealing junk secrets. Definitely a stupid thing to do. In 2056 it might be a real secret if the project is still under development.
If your neighbor decided your lawnmower would look better in his garage, would you want the “Govt” to put them in jail for stealing your property? He might say you have enough money to get a new one.No one else finds it jarring that the US Govt can *put someone in jail* for breaking an employment contract with a tech company?!
Tesla is run by an alien who is trying to build the technology needed to get him back to his planet. He is the basis of the the character Thomas from “The man who fell to Earth”I read two news on this article
1. Apple is indeed developing an autonomous car
2. It’s been 8 years and still no sign of any product. As a comparison Tesla took 5 years to develop from scratch and launch its first car. 20 years later it has a complete lign of products, giga factory in various part of the world and model 3 / Y are best sellers in many countries. They didn’t have the means of Apple
You are so right. Chinese companies know Apple fails when it comes to entering new markets. Especially when they are too late to market. Kind of like, smart phones, tablets, watches, music streaming, tv streaming, even with computers their vision for personally owned computer was believed to be totally bonkers, until it work and a partner stole their technology and created windows.Apple was so far behind in the auto-driving game, what could he have possibly stolen of value? Car color schemes?
Exactly. His original crime is likely a minor frustration to Apple. And that he’ll never work in the automobile or tech industry again is his own doing. The absolute worst thing he did was hurt all the people who still work at Apple.Idiot doesn’t even begin to describe this one. What he doesn’t even realize is going forward, any potential employees from the region will be intensely watched due to his actions.
In China it's "us vs. them" mentality, so even if people understand that stealing IP from your former place of work is bad on an abstract level, they'll never denounce a local person for doing that to a foreign country. Also money there is much more important than in the West. I am sure there are many Chinese who recognize that what he did was wrong, but at the same time no-one would publicly speak out against him for fear of being labelled unpatriotic.Do we know if it was sponsored or even tacitly supported y the Chinese state? There's a big issue with IP theft. And so often the standard defence seems to be: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurting_the_feelings_of_the_Chinese_people
