Can you explain how they leak products on purpose?
They communicate with their "friends" in the media on the down low about products when they want to create a buzz or get the pulse of the masses on rumored product. Its a controlled leak. As much as they claim secrecy which is mostly true, they do control what is and isnt leaked on purpose.

'Yes, I absolutely can help you and I'd love to. The replacement is $199.'

Charging $199 to fix the glass on an iPhone screen is not called helping. It's called a ripping off the customer.

agreed - but it's not the fault of the poor sap that has to give you the news

I have worked in Apple Retail management for over 12 years and I can tell you the story around the cables (David) is 100% un true, in-fact its absolute bollox.
As to never saying 'no' to a customer that is also the same, bollox.

My beef is with Joe McGauley, the article's author. Are writers just so lazy these days that then cannot end an article appropriately, like with a conclusion or summary. It just ends and you are trying to see if you missed a page turn or if the author is just a lazy tool.

"Also I think the Apple Watch is the dumbest thing ever."

I'd be embarrassed to attempt to sell anyone an Apple Watch. I'm sure I'm not the only one but when I see one of those dumb things strapped on someone's wrist, especially the steel version, I just shake my head and remind myself that I'm grateful for being one of those rare people with the right priorities in life.

You are a great person.

I remember going to the Genius Bar last year and this dumb lady was complaining that they wouldn't replace her iPhone 5 with an iPhone 6S because the iPhone 5 broke. The guy helping her was super polite, saying they'll repair the phone for $xxx but they can't give her a new device. She demanded to speak with a manager who said the same thing.

She was becoming verbally abusive to the point where I almost stepped in and said something. I don't like when people are disrespected for doing their job and following procedures. But it wasn't my place so I didn't say anything.

That reminds me of this woman: https://vine.co/v/huHUPLnx1dg

:D

When I was at work at my Apple Store, we had a similar issue with a local doctor who completely lost it. He was a local anesthesiologist who broke his phone and demanded a new unit. After verbal abusing apple employee after employee, a manager finally stepped in. After the manager refused to give him a free iPhone replacement he threatened the manager by telling him if he ever found himself needing surgery in an emergency room, he better hope he wasn't the one providing anesthesiology. I couldn't believe it! That was a life threatening thing to say, I think!
It seems to be a normal thing to see people loosing it when they break their rather expensive iGadget. There are countless videos on youtube of people freaking out in-store.

Should have called the police. People act ridiculous these days and expect rules to be broken all the time for them.

Oh my... I remember my Apple Store days, the worst customers were the ones with Black (Amex) cards

some do all feel special about them. don't know in this setup...just other situations some can be asshats I have seen.

Some..not all. Knew some consultants cool as hell about it. Sense of perspective they had I guess...they reached black card status only because they bought clients software licensing on amex for the reimbursement later. large money buy and clears...they liked the double dip they got for other things. Knew they had it because on someone else's dime so weren't elitist pricks about it.

I remember that as well, some just charged a bunch of business expenses on it and got the invite. Nowadays that loophole is closed.
