Former 'I'm a Mac' Actor Justin Long Joins New Huawei Ad Campaign

I cannot stand watching the Mac vs PC ads campaign today. It's too sad because you realize how Apple has changed. Today Apple is the guy with the suit and the tie, with the only difference that he's also tasting a lollipop and holding a SpongeBob balloon with the other hand.

Sad days to anybody who switched to Apple because it offered you the freedom you wished when you were tired of doing what Microsoft wanted.

The removal of the MagSafe is indeed quite revealing: you no longer have a feature that helped your MacBook last more. Now you have a power cord just like any other laptop in the market because that's what Apple prefers. What's the difference with Microsoft? I switched to Apple exactly because of that attitude.

And look where Blackberry is today. Nokia is attempting a come back. (Both were great phones in their time). And I never used the word "Never." I was just commentating on the uphill battle for Huwaei against Apple.

Their main challenge is getting a major US carrier to pick them up. If they did that, I think they would quickly make a huge dent in Samsung's market share. If they managed to split that share, they could easily pull ahead of Apple globally, pushing them down to #3. Of course that in and of itself wouldn't have any impact on Apple still taking the lion's share of profits - if anything it would probably increase them, because Samsung would fight to defend market share with price (and thus profit) cuts.

When a celebrity works for competing brands, it speaks volumes about their lack of loyalty, rendering their message null and void in my mind.

Now Microsoft just needs to get the Mac AND PC guy to be in their commercials. Lol. Not that I'm a fan of Microsoft or anything, but it'd be a great ironic way to call out Apple for all the dumb stuff they've been doing lately:

1. Lack of SD card slot
2. Donglegate
3. Bad battery on new MacBook Pro
5. Bad graphics glitches on new MacBook Pro
4. FOUR YEARS since Mac Pro update
5. No Apple displays anymore

Microsoft could make their commercials in the exact same style as the old Mac vs. PC ads, and it would be hilarious! Maybe it'd be the wakeup call that Apple needs.

I can see Huawei overtaking Apple because when you have two Chinese made products consumers will choose better technology and value over profit.

#sarcasm. Fixed. Seriously though, there have been some not so good Apple commercials, but the last two years in particular have been really good. They're classy, tasteful, simple, and they still hold the crown for advertising here in LA. My clients use apple commercials as a reference more than I see any other company mentioned. "Like an Apple commercial" is just a phrase producers and filmmakers say to communicate either a sterile simple white/black background setup, or a light and airy lifestyle video with real people. Art is subjective, but my money is on Apple having very effective marketing to this day that mostly marches to the beat of their own drum. Is it as iconic as Here's to the Crazy Ones or 1984 or iPod dancers? No, but it also doesn't have to be. Those were only a few spots, out of years of hundreds of campaigns. Nostalgia gives everyone rose-tinted lenses. Now is never like "the good old days" until we look back fondly and forget the painful stuff.
The last great one was the Christmas one the other year when the son recorded the family celebrations and played it to them.

Huawei is more popular outside of the United States ... I think the company has some sort of sanctions against them hence it is hard for them to do business in the United States.

I now know how to pronounce "Huawei." Can't imagine how this ad would make someone want to go buy a Wahway.
I always thought it was pronounced "who are we" which seemed kind of fitting for a company trying to establish themselves

To their credit, it's better then ANY commercial that apple has put out in the last 5 years hands down.
I really enjoyed the latest commercial about the Airpods, with the guy making some extremely cool moves as well as showing off the best features with the AirPods. I also literally laughed at the Taylor Swift ad so I think they're doing more than okay in that department.

Huawei = Traitor. HAHA. Seriously though, a job is a job by the looks of it.

So the Huawei phone has taken the place of PC guy? Er, OK… Good luck with that!
Quite the opposite, Huawei phone has taken the place of Apple.

There is a lot of material for a series. This list kind of scares me.

interviewing a phone? someone needs to be fired.
The subject is being interviewed by the phone.

Sometimes it makes me wonder those working to be paid multi-million dollar marketing contract, this is the best they can do?

This is like the first idea that comes up from a 5 min brainstorming from highschool students. In fact, I am willing to bet a highshool student can do a better ad.

Enjoyed the Mac / PC commercials, but ultimately if I want to buy a Huawei phone, I will check it out at the store and see if it is for me.

Nice to see some competition.

And while I wouldn't buy their bling edition phone, I will keep an eye on Huawei's other models

Competition is good.
