I thought the real reason Netflix is not joining the TV app is the fact that Apple gets to keep viewership data that way, which was something Netflix was heavily locked down on for a very long time (they only started giving out numbers a year ago afaik?).

I honestly don't even want Netflix to join the TV app anymore, I got used to having to use 2 apps now (TV app and then Netflix separately)... what really grinds my gears is the fact that they still didn't even acknowledge SharePlay functionality. I wonder if they one day add support for that... they're like the last big streaming service without a group watch feature? There's really no excuse to not implement SharePlay support because it's dirt cheap to do so, all the heavy lifting is done by Apple via FaceTime.
I think Netflix doesn’t want to be on AppleTV because it messes up Netflix’s recommendation system.

Netflix would still know what you’re watching because you would be on the Netflix app anyway. It’s just that Netflix won’t be able to recommend its own shows while you’re on the aTV app.

No, I meant that Netflix doesn‘t want Apple to have any of the viewership data from Netflix costumer’s.

Yeah well when Netflix is pretty much the only service missing in the TV app, which makes it really difficult to find what movies are on Netflix when I'm using the app I use for finding everything else, it makes me not want to subscribe to their service.

Yeah I may just cancel Netflix. With the non-integration in the Apple TV app, and the price hikes, and the non-originals quickly going away little by little, I just don't see why I keep paying these guys. Every other app I use, I just open it right form the TV app and it is nice, because I just keep all the streaming apps hidden in a folder, never look at them again. I wish I didn't even need all the apps, just pay through Apple and watch to my hearts content, all in one easy to use app.
I ended up cancelling Netflix because I wasn’t watching it. The reason I wasn’t watching it was because I got used to using the Apple TV app for everything else & having the ‘up next’ feature. I did occasionally open the app to see if there was something interesting, but it made me realise that the Netflix app isn’t that great & I couldn’t be bothered looking through content for the sake of just trying to find something.

My sister, within days of me cancelling Netflix, switched the payment to her own bank card. I can watch it for free now, but I still hardly open it just to look anymore. The only thing I’m waiting for now is Stranger things.

I’ve also paid for a year of Apple TV+. I’m enjoying the content on there & with their weekly release of episodes, I might as well save £10 if I’m gonna be watching it every month anyway.

Agreed.

they need to buy rights to something people actually want to watch. People are becoming addicted to streaming services. Apple has what? The morning show? See? Even HBO Max raised by wolves spoke to me more than any show on Apple TV. Buying big name movies is a start but giving Oprah all these shows isn’t the move.
Exactly! They need to engage people in different ways things have changed now! Mostly in the corona pandemic! They need to focus on the content the mass actually grasp! I think being such a greatest brand they should be best at everything whether it is in bundled package subs or single! The expectation is always high!??
