Nice perspective on this one, a bit different from the usual bridge shot.

Took this a couple of months ago on a trip to Washington , D.C. . Taken at night at the Korean War Memorial . Was playing around with high iso's , no flash , trying to do the 1/focal length minimum shutter speed thing. The shot looks awful in color , but B&W makes it work IMHO.

That's a great perspective and night shots are the best at this memorial. I like the flattening and the almost tilt shift like effect. I think it's very interesting small and digitally but it wouldn't work printed out large. A very small print on a large mat might look cool. I might would rotate it every so slighlty counter clockwise. The flag being not dead vertical bothers me but I'm a bit OCD about straight lines.

Thanks... I hadn't ever intended to post this anywhere , it was just a shot taken while playing with high iso . It's been 'shopped big time to get rid of other tourists . Just out of curiosity I printed an 8x10 out last night and it wasn't all THAT bad , but much larger I think the grain from the high iso would overwhelm everything else . The thing that I like about this shot is the blurring which almost imparts motion in some of the figures There's a better , but slightly different one I posted in the October POTD .

Great dynamics going on here. I like the motion of the crashing surf contrasted with the stillness of the surfer.

I like this one, too. Nice textures and lighting. Maybe crop a bit off the top? The portion of the image above the fence/wall is a bit distracting.

Nice photo. There is a lot of interesting detail going on in the image. It looks a lot better larger.

Because of the clear sky, I like the color version better. B&W can really do interesting things to clouds.

I agree regarding B&W and clouds; maybe like this shot I took of Flathead Lake and the Mission Mtns. BTW, love the coloring of your POTD shot.

I like the composition but it seems a bit flat. Have you tried pulling up the blacks a bit?

Tried something different. Not sure that I'm happy with the pic or the post processing.

I like the tone of the image. The leaves are a bit distracting. I'm not sure if you could capture as much of the foreground while reducing the DoF.

Lone hiker in foggy weather.
My favourite subject to convert to b/w. If that's even necessary, since the
original also has almost no colour in it. I admit it's an older one, but it matches the challenge. (and I like it)
Perhaps more of the same, after this weekend ( promises are foggy weather!)

The faint green adds to the picture. It gives you a sense of how gray the day was without processing it as B&W.

Nice shot - reminds me of the day I climbed the mountain. :) The left corner is a bit heavy into the black.

My contribution

Still working with the B&W conversion. This one is rather dark but it makes a descent print.

I went out to Red Rock for the Leonid meteor showers last Wednesday. I saw a couple of good ones but didn't manage to capture any.

Thanks for the advice, Dale! I found the top distracting a bit but thought it added to the framing. Though it's a little too much, I agree. Some really nice shots here!

Love the clouds, but (...) they would get more attention if you cropped the bottom.

Weekend walk in south NL.
