It got a solid one star. Having to download 16 gig of junk to play a decade old game is really pathetic. Best yet, they can't do math because the percentage downloaded doesn't match the data shown on the screen. 3.1/4.29 <> 0.54

You know that games can be supported for many years, right? They can be expanded upon, patched, new features…almost like whatever software you’re using to write this post.

Yeah so far they have won nothing and just made judges everywhere angry with their non compliance.

We have USB-C, we have alternative app stores, we have switching of default apps (and a lot more is coming), we have alternative payment methods, we have links to to website to buy, we have open browser engine in the EU, they can't charges fees on external purchases and soon they will have to open up NFC, airpod connect and watch functionality too in the EU ...

What did they win? US, UK and EU are not going to walk back laws, especially after their behaviour. Also developers will revolt as well once they are used to all those new methods that are just in effect.

They lost, and they know it otherwise Fortnite wouldn't be back with 'no comment' :D
I never ask or wanted any of the things you described. I was very happy when apple was apple.

If you search the term 'Fortnite', you have to scroll and scroll and scroll down to find it. Apple REALLY doesn't want you to find it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love it!

EDIT: Oh, and they are making you type in your Apple password, instead of being able to just double click the side button on the iPhone. 🤣
I typed in F, and the second suggestion was Fortnite, right after Facebook. After tapping the suggestion, Fortnite was the first app listed. It also allowed the purchase via Face ID.

Two decades too long.
You're absolutely right. It's 20 years too long.

20 years too long that Apple's given developers a safe, successful place to distribute their apps. 20 years too long that Apple has given developers the tools & resources to build their apps.

All for free I might add.

Without Apple 90% of these developers wouldn't exist.

I am not a developer, but my understanding is each developer account gets to select which stores it offers its app in. So multiple stores, but as long as Epic Sweden is following the rules, Apple can’t tell them “you’re not allowed to submit in the US store” unless they change it so no developer can submit from outside their own store, which is clearly not workable.

Appreciate any corrections from those more knowledgeable
Apple had originally requested that Epic resubmit it without the U.S. App Store.

How much does Apple get for all those free apps riddled with ads and forced videos?

Greedy software developers are raising prices on video games for consumers. Can you be mad at that or nahh? Its cool when THEY do it but Apple has to reduce their fee?

I don't even play video games, and yes I can be.

..that said, Apple is the middleman here. I don't need them to stand between me and companies I want to do business with.

im sorry but apple have state under oath they where willing to let Fortnite back on the store if it followed all the rules.
And currently links outside the store with 0% commission is legal.

it's neither my or Epics fault apple made binding commitments or be slapped with perjury.
Right. I’m not sure what the basis would be for disallowing it back onto the App Store if it is fully compliant with current rules.

And yet that 30% has been around for two decades now, so....
30% is ridiculous for being a middleman collecting cash. It was a new and novel idea in 2008 but by some point made less sense.

I agree some overhead is needed, probably bigger than the 3% a credit card company takes, but 30% is egregious. The reduction for subscriptions is nowhere near enough also as 15% is still a ripoff.

It was easy money for Apple/Google and now they're getting called out for it.

Give it a week. Tim Sweeney is probably already preparing a lawsuit claiming 1-star ratings are part of Apple’s anti-competitive agenda...

What about refunds? Want about stolen credit cards? What about having access to billions of possible customers?

I also don't think Target should sell anything at a high profit either - give me your wholesale price plus 5%. Why do they get to dictate that I have to pay more - sometimes 300%+ more or higher? How is that fair?

GTA 6 MIGHT end up on iOS App Store if the 2nm iPhone 18 Ultra is powerful enough 😁 to handle it I think it should be able to match the 2020 PS5 especially if the game runs in 1080 30fps on iPhone 18 Ultra

Honestly though, hasn’t Fortnite peaked? I mean is it still the powerhouse game it was or has it faded? I honestly don’t know. What I do know is that my Gamer friends never talk about it, one actively hates it, and it really only gets talked about in these articles about the lawsuit

So I ask again, how popular is it really?
Based on my 14 and 11 yos reactions to the news, it’s done.

When it was initially removed, the oldest was bummed. He was just getting into it and had to play at a friend’s house. Today, when he got home from school, I mentioned Fortnite was back in the App Store and he was like “meh.” Called it “total garbage.”

Not to say there isn’t a whole slew of kids where Fortnite is more age-appropriate. But I do think it was removed at a pretty high water mark. We’ll see how it plays out.

All that aside, I’m shocked Sweeney was allowed to so intentionally, maliciously and brazenly break his contract and Apple is now forced to do business with that asshat. The judicial system failed. Shocking, I know.

Not all for free, actually.

Distribution in Apple's App Store costs US$99/year. If Apple deems that insufficient to cover the costs of running the App Store, they should increase their rate. Otherwise, it is the amount Apple asks from developers.
