As I post this, the count of forum participants reached an all-time high of 3,850, but it's still growing.

We're nearly at a peak of 4000 today.

The forums have had only a few momentary glitches, and have held up remarkably well under the load.

I spoke too soon. By the time I clicked, it was over 4,100!

Thanks for being here, everyone.

It reached 4,486 ten minutes ago as an aftershock of the keynote, dropped way down to 1,600 or so, and is now headed back up, as post-keynote discussion begins.

That would explain why I couldn't get in 10 mins ago.:)

hows the server load by the way, is the fire dept needed.

Yay! It was fun being able to watch the Keynote unfold via MRlive.

Thanks to all the behind-the-scenes people who helped keep MR running smoothly.

Absolutely wonderful job by the MRLive team - this was the smoothest session I've watched in three years. No loss of connectivity, updated consistently every 60 seconds. No bandwidth issues whatsoever. Great job - reading about all the "behind the scenes" technology while Steve blathered for 35 minutes on iLife was fun too.

Thanks folks, that was a stupendous accomplishment!

Has that itch cleared up yet?
Oh yes! :D But unfortunately, I soiled my chair pretty badly in all the Macworld excitement, so I'm leaving for Office Depot to get a replacement soon.

Here's to the Crazy Ones

The drop was becaues I had to reboot the server because the Max # of connecctions was too low, artificially limiting how many people could be on at once.

5700?? Wow. I think overall the system has been holding up nicely. It's good to see that people are looking here for information.

The next peak was 5,890 forum members, an hour and 15 minutes after the end of the keynote.

A fantastic job by Arn et. al. - Thanks for founding, maintaining and improving this site!

We demolished the old record again. Getting towards 6k? Holy cow!

[peeks in door through crowd noise] It's a jungle out here! Way to go, MR![/peeks back out]

Ironic that the forum postings are way down (it's like a ghost town) but the users online is at a steady 4000 for the past half hour or so. Mods got it easy. :p

I've only just managed to get in – I've been confronted with 'Server busy' messages for the past two hours. Hopefully I'll actually be able to make this post without seeing any more!

Damn - beat me to it! I've been blocked out for the last couple of hours too... Don't know if this is UK only, or worldwide, but it has been a bit frustrating, especially as Macrumorslive worked so well (congrats on that - very impressive :) )

EDIT: Whoops, with all the 'Server Busy' messages I've been getting I didn't realise that my previous post had actually got through. Sorry 'bout the duplicate.

I will say though that the live feed kept me well informed with what was going on, so thanks for that guys!

So maybe time for a server upgrade? Its been a bitch trying to get on here all day with all the "Server busy" warnings.

Posting just now returning to normal for me...I gave up for a good four hours because of all the "server busy" messages. It held up almost all the way through the keynote though...it was the aftermath that did it in.

Not knocking on you guys...you do a fantastic job with the site.
