I found an iPhone 6s Plus today. Passcode lock is on, there is a sim card in it but the phone has no service. For some reason, there is a sticker on the back of the phone which has the IMEI and Serial Number of the phone, so I ran the IMEI on Swappa and it is reported as lost or stolen. I then called Tmobile since there was a Tmobile sim card, and they ran the Sim card number and actually called the customer who came up and left a voicemail with my contact info.

Is there a way for me to find out the iCloud email associated with the phone? When I plug it in, it says to enter the passcode to connect to it. Hoping to email them as well.
******** story.

Good question.
If I got a phone call from tmobile saying we have your lost phone here at our location on so and so Street.
I'd be very happy to go grab it.
Its very weird that they called and left a message to the phones owner and they never bothered responding.

Well it was later at night but still nothing. I also contacted Apple and they basically did the same thing. Took my contact info and I guess will contact the icloud email on record.

I write my email address and phone # on the inside of my case just in case this ever happens to me. Have they called you back yet? If they haven't called yet, I'd assume they won't. Who doesn't check VM for over a day?

No, unfortunately no one has contacted yet.

Power up the phone and see if the owner set up the ICE contact in the "emergency" section. Also, ask Siri "who's phone is this"

And if you want to go all out, you can pop your sim in and see if Siri can call or text either wife, husband, dad, mom, brother or sister. Or better yet, go to T-Mobile and have hem pop their sim in.

There isnt anything I can do from the lock screen. Siri, notification center, control center, camera, etc. is all disabled. Not much more I can do. I will hold on until Saturday and then decide what to do with it.

Most likely what will happen is this:

1. Phone is given to local police.
2. After sufficient time has passed w/o claim, the police can sell/dispose the phone as abandoned property.
3. It gets bought by bidder or lot purchaser.
4. When they try to wipe the phone, iCloud prompt will appear.
5) They will either sell the phone for parts or try to get the lock removed.

Even camera is disabled? That's quite unusual. And there's no Voice Control that gets activated at least in place of Siri?

Literally nothing. No swipe in any direction, like the screen will move slightly left or right if I swipe but nothing will come up and also nothing activated from home button.

With the exception of the camera, this is how my phone would behave in the hands of a stranger who found it.

It surprises me that it seems to be a given around here (to SOME) that access to so many functions is allowed on the lock screen.

Quite odd since getting rid of camera and not even having Voice Control are typically not things that would be common at all.

4a. Contact the OP to unlock the phone. :(

I knew you could disable certain functions from the lock screen, but I did not know you could disable to this extent. Will have to play around with my own settings now lol

Unfortunate that they didnt/havent put the phone in lost mode through iCloud with a contact number or something.

Everything is disabled at my lock screen also.

I do that for max security.

I would just assume that someone who knows how to disable all of those settings would also put the phone in lost mode with a contact number when the phone was lost lol but i also dont know how long the phone has been lost for or anything.

Does that mean you completely have camera and Siri/Voice Control disabled even when the phone is unlocked?

Thinking about it some more, with the informational sticker being there, it sounds like it could have been some test device for some company or some employee type of device other type of organization with a particular configuration applied to it essentially.

Yea, this makes most sense. Probably a company phone and they just reported lost/stolen to TMobile so it was bricked and gave up on it.

Yes...Siri/voice control disabled.

Those things that could tell anyone what the phone number is, etc are all off. (And I enabled the alphanumeric password ages ago too.)

My phone is 'bullet-proof' FOS.

I did disable 'wipe after 10 attempts' though...that's off.

And no camera at all basically?
