Sparing you a long and boring story, I will sum it up: I found two kittens and I don' know what to do.

They look like they should still be weaning off their mother, but I unfortunately had the experience of watching their mother be run over.:(

I need to know what to feed them, where to keep them, and what to do with them. I can't keep them forever, we already have 3 cats and thats all my parents will allow. Should I post an ad in the paper? No one I know will take them.

Please help, they're so cute:eek: (The one closest to me is shivering; probably misses it's mother. :()

So cute!

Off topic, i clicked that pig things in your sig.

Its soo sad:(

Ecepically when they band their heads on the floor!

And that last scene is very very bloody and sad:(

Any way have fun with those cut elittle kittins.:)

One question though. Someone earlier in the thread said to wipe thier rear-ends with a warm damp cloth so they would poop, but we've been doing that, and they haven't pooped yet. It's been over a day, so we're not sure exactly what to do...

Have they pooped yet? Sometimes you have to keep at it for a few minutes before they start going. If they're already going a good amount on their own (without stimulation), you may not need to do this.

Call your veterinarian with any questions. Have you asked whether they will take the kittens? It would also be a good idea to take them in for a check-up and deworming as well. S/he would also be able to give you a better estimate on their age too.

Good job so far! :)

I'm a pretty cold hearted person, but this thread has really shown me what cool people there are on this site.

I'm very impressed with everyone's knowledge and caring attitude. :)

having a cat and three dogs, i realize the work/worry involved with taking care of them. but it seems these putties are in the best possible hands in lieu of their mother.

We're worried now, because in the 3 days we've had them, they haven't pooped once. We keep rubbing thier rear ends over and over, but all they do is meow over and over.

What can we do? We don't have the money to spend for a vet visit...

Try massaging there belly. Gently press and feel if they have any hard lumps close to there tail. This was told to me by a volunteer at the RSPCA near my house. If they have hard lumps continue the warn water trick until they poop. This could take several minutes. It is the same technique use for humans with constipation the massage not the warm wet towel. :p

I know it is a little late to be asking this
but where are the rest of the litter? two kittens is a little unusual small size.
did you look all over for the others?

Oh and to make them poop short strokes towards the bum, with a little more pressure in the bum area. if they dont poop then, a vet visit is needed - most animal shelters will help for minimal cost ie free.

There were three originally, but some lady came up, said she knew how to bottlefeed and take care of kittens, so I let her have one.

I know this sucks, Cassie, but at this point you need to consider what's best for the kittens' health. Kittens that don't poop can become very sick and even die. If you take your kittens in to the vet, at the very least they will be able to tell you whether the kittens are impacted at this point. Since you're not planning on keeping the kittens anyway, you may even be able to sign the kittens over to them, where you know they will be getting the best care possible. I know you've already become very attached to these precious babies and it will be very sad to give them up, but now you need to put what's best for them first.

Thanks for the interest, we really appreciate it.

They're doing great now, we let them roam freely around the house during the day (gotta watch your step; they come out of nowhere. :)) and sleep in a box at night. We bottle feed them KMR, and they are starting to eat slightly mositened dry food as well. They are now using the bathroom at an alarming rate, which we assume is a good thing. One of them is already set for adoption, and the other is arousing interest as well. We're just keeping them until they are weaned. :)

Reading that made me feel really good.
I think I am going to end my day on that happy though and go to sleep. Thank You.

Yeah, they both were adopted, by the same family too.

Wish I could end this on a happy note, but the one that was lighter in color was lost about a week after they got both of the kittens, and they never found him.:(

The other one they have is doing very well however, went to see him about a month ago.
