i just use temperature monitor to see which one is in use. if the 330 isn't in use, it doesn't shoe me a temperature for it. is this actually working? or have i fooled myself into thinking that.

also, very rarely does it go off, my 330 is running right now and all i have open is safari and iphoto. closing iphoto does nothing :(. i think in the month or so i've had my macbook, i've seen the 330 shut down maybe 5 times.

I have recently noticed that if you force it to Intel HD, the GPU Diode indicator in iStat menus turns to - no matter there is a dependency or not in gfxCardStatus. Looks like the 330M is really turned off.

Another thing to confirm broken apps when force-switching the GPU:
If i switch back to 330M, then start Skype and activate the video option in the settings, it will show up in the dependencies list.

Switching back to Intel HD will work but the webcam will stop responding. (Camera is in use by another application).
Restarting Skype will fix the Camera.

Is anyone having a problem with Flash/graphics switching where the 330m doesn't get turned on?

when I try to watch these videos it works fine until I full-screen it. Then the FPS drops to about 15 and it's really choppy. For some reason the intel card can't handle it (is it really that bad?) and the 330m is not triggered.

However, if I'm watching a Youtube video and I hit the full screen button the MBP switches to the 330m and it plays smoothly.

I'm running 10.6.4 with the second release of Flash Gala but it also happens in the official 10.1 Flash player. 15" hi-res core i7 MBP.

So after the recent update to 10.6.4 I've noticed some odd things. I use some customizable options in Finder, such as using a Background picture to organize my Movies nicely and normally it should look like this:

But now it looks like this:

until the nvidia chip gets activated. Is there any way to set the chip to activate when the folder opens?

(pardon my cluttered menubar)

I suggest restarting Finder, and if that doesn't work try rebooting. This is a very odd problem.

I don't think that there's a way that you can make it switch to the NVIDIA chip when you open a certain folder.

I believe 10.6.4 added a limit to the size of the image that can be used by the intel chip (for whatever reason, I can't understand why), b/c smaller images work fine, but the one I'm using is almost a MB in size and it worked perfectly before 10.6.3, but now it doesn't unless the nvidia chip is activated.

But restarting finder/computer does nothing. If you don't mind can you link me or send me that background you are using?

I was wondering if anyone has experienced their screen flickering when turning on the computer. Could this be with 10.6.4 and v. 1.7.5 of GFX? I notice only when a browser window is open?

Could you please let me know what program this is?

It's Finder :p If you go into the folder options menu, you can select a background image for the folder, there are various types of Book Shelves available around. And the Movie images I made my self in photoshop (i.e. found really large posters and set it to a certain width x height) and just changed the icons for the movie files and removed their file type.

Thanks. That is cool!

Dont wanna bring up a dead thread but has anyone found out the gpuswitch numbers do? I was going to try to set the switching according battery/power because Energy Saver wont let you and last time I had gfxcardstatus it wouldnt remember the settings after a restart.

Not sure of their significance as of yet. Have you tried gfxCardStatus recently? I bumped it to v2.0 a couple weeks ago which should fix the preferences issues you might have been experiencing with v1.8.x.

Yeah I just installed it and check and it is fixed now so I guess ill stick with it, even tried changing cards with it and it has no effect on gpuswitch...
