no sympathy here! haha. i couldnt believe i got welker at a late round, then saw he was concussed on saturday, sweet.
Well in fairness, it is kind of BS that ESPN sets it up so auto-pick gives out a **** load of kickers and DST. haha

I'm fine. It's all in good fun and I do have some decent players.

Okay Everyone,

I wanted to detail some adjustments we are making to the league this year.

1. Decimal scoring: we are moving to decimal scoring to more accurately reflect offensive statistics earned. This means that players will earn points for every yard they gain or lose as opposed to only scoring for every 10 yards gained. Additionally, this method should virtually eliminate ties in the weekly match ups. Sure, it's still possible to tie, but highly unlikely when scores are now calculated to .00 totals.

2. Trade deadline: The trade deadline has been set for November 13th. This is earlier in the year than we have had previously, but the reason for the change is to eliminate any controversy surrounding late season trades between top teams and bottom teams in the league. The general rule of trading is that the transaction be free from collusion and that both owners be genuinely attempting to improve their teams. Trades late in the season involving teams that are already eliminated from the playoffs make these judgement calls difficult as there is no way an eliminated team can improve their standing. An earlier trade deadline should greatly improve this situation as most teams will still be in the hunt for a playoff spot.

3. Defensive Scoring: Defensive scoring has been slightly adjusted to the following point totals in regards to points allowed.

  • 0 points allowed (10)
  • 1-17 points allowed (7)
  • 18-27 points allowed (4)
  • 28-34 points allowed (1)
  • 46+ points allowed (-4)

I still need to set up/double check the final week to week schedule for match ups, but otherwise the league is pretty much set and good to go. Let me know if you have any questions.

****ing football is finally here! Good luck ladies, gents and MacNut.

This close to going bold by benching Brady and starting Andy Dalton. Reasons- Brady has a calf injury and the Pats always struggle in Miami.

Put in a different QB, quick. Newton is out. This is a week 1-only courtesy. :)

Hope you put Dalton in, friend. :(

Judging by the week 1 games so far... it's going to be a crazy season! Fantasy is going to be a lot of fun this year. :D

Thanks. I didn't see it and wasn't looking this past week. Had some other issues that took precedence over taking care of FF.

I noticed my Defense (NE) was playing my Vikes this week and I couldn't very well be rooting against MN so I went and found a new Defense for week 2. I wound up grabbing the Saints which earned me 5 points. Meanwhile, just leaving the Pats defense in would have netted me 29 points.

That's the kind of Fantasy Football Genius you guys/gals are dealing with here! :p

too funny... you can't be a homer when it comes to fantasy football. :D

I've stated Dalton over Brady both weeks and it paid off in points both times. Sadly, my team now sucks due to injury.

Anyone have a RB to trade?

Did you get your trade?

But didn't I beat you like 131 to 88 or something? Or is that not you?

Yes, I took my ass whooping (no NFL pun intended) like a man.

No trade yet, been too busy to focus on FF.

I wasn't sure suddenly because you said the points paid off. I didn't razz you at all. Honestly, my win was luck of the draw. I have zero sills...I just google a lot.

It seems that they dug down to a tenth for scoring. Maybe the commissioner can explain how ties are decided.

It's in the league settings. A tie is broken by total WR points. I hadn't seen the final scores, you guys actually tied all the way down to a .0 score, wow!?! :eek

Keep in mind that ESPN will always make score adjustments once all of the game statistics are officially finalized. In another league we've already had one game flip flow between the winner and loser due to a score adjustment. So, we might see some other changes in the next 24-48 hours. :

Nope. My WRs outscored his by almost 2 to 1. Come on commish, don't make this your Ray Rice moment. :D

Okay folks,

I double checked the league settings and looked over everything regarding the "tie" this past weekend between rdowns and MacNut. I could not figure out why the system was giving MacNut the win and so I eventually called ESPN support for help.

I was told that with decimal scoring there will never be a tie because the system actually carries the stats out to the hundredth place or "as far as it needs to go to break a potential tie". I'm not sure I understand that fully, but that's what the support guy on the phone said.

If you will hold your cursor over a team score then a popup will actually show you that team's score to the .00 place. So, the official ESPN score for rdowns' and MacNut's matchup is as follows:

rdowns: 129.46
MacNut: 129.54

I held my cursor over the score of other teams in the league and for some it showed a score to the .00 place, but for others it did not. I can only assume that if your score is, for example, 101.5 and the popup also shows 101.5 then your actual score is 101.50. If you have any questions then feel free to let me know, but for now that's all the information I have. I believe making the move to decimal scoring is best for our league, but there are going to be some "growing pains" as we adjust to the transition.

Tough loss rdowns... :(
