Looks cool...... I ordered it last week and I'm stoked to get mine.

:apple:4th generation silver iPod shuffle (coming soon) lolz:rolleyes:

Docks are useless once you put a case on your device.
Who would put a Shuffle in a case?
Giving it the headphones without the inline mic and control is however a mistake in my opinion.
Microphone? Do you realize we're talking about the Shuffle here? It is a set of controls on a cord. :) You can even decide where to clip it for the easiest access to the controls.

That adapter is horrible, wonder why they ditched the dock they bundled with the 2G Shuffles?

I like the new cable: no more bulk than needed (edged out only by the Gen 1 model). My desk and bags are cluttered enough without having 3' of cable hooked to 2"sq of useless plastic requiring needless orientation. Two plugs and an inch of cable is enough. 'bout time! where can I get one without paying >$15?

I bought a Brushed Stainless Steel Limited Edition 3G Shuffle the Friday before the recent iPod event in the off-chance Shuffles would go away. And while I think it looks much sexier than the new ones, especially for the LE Stainless Steel look, I returned it this past weekend, unopened for my full purchase price for the following reasons:

1. At $99 for the Limited Edition 4GB, I couldn't justify keeping it when the new Nano is $149-$179 and offers the same clip-on functionality.

2. The headphones only controls on the 3G were a limiting factor, and I would have found myself buying a controls adapter so I could use it at my work desk or in the car too. I have an iP4 but would have liked using the Shuffle in those 2 situations for saving battery.

3. I really liked the clip-on of the Shuffle and that would have been great for times when I didn't want a cord going down to my iP4 in my pocket, but like I said, the new Nano offers the same thing.

4. I never liked the 2G Shuffle and the 4G Shuffle doesn't look that great either. I prefer the one I returned but I won't be getting the new Shuffle.

What's wrong with it? It's much easier to just take with you which I find a plus in the current 3rd generation shuffles.

I just wish they'd done the 4th generation design for the 3rd generation, as it was the logical continuation and moving the buttons to the headphones was a stupid decision, it's the most awkward to use thing ever if you want to skip through an album.

This 4th generation is what the 3rd should have been, though with the new touch Nano the difference isn't that large anymore, though for £90 less I know which one I'll get if my current Shuffle fails!

I loved my 2nd generation iPod, as I could just clip it onto the top of my T-Shirt and have easy access to useful controls, I just wish it hadn't died and forced me to the 3rd generation, which seemed great in concept but in practise was really not.

And that is exactly why Apple decided not to offer Shuffle in greater capacities ;)

I just figured/hoped there wouldn't be such a gap in pricing. That way they'd have all the price points covered from 49-499 (or whatever the 64GB touch is)

Nice to see others still using their 512mb first gen. I love mine! It's been a rock for over 5 years.

I'm still rocking my 1gig first gen. Works for exactly what I need it to do. I honestly cant remember when I bought it, but probably about the same time frame.

does the earpiece come with remote control? I don't see any in the photos....

Same. My old shuffle was had for $20 off eBay, and while I may not use it all too often these days, the battery still works great, and it's a simple plug-in device for my Xbox as well. The best part is charging it while using it, so I know the battery is never dead when I take it out. I loved the simple USB right there, cable-free. :)

I still have my 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle. Haven't used the 1st gen one in a long time.

I would love to get a new shuffle or nano, but I've gotten so used to my bluetooth headset with my iPhone. I'd hate to go back to a wired headset. Unless I bought a nano with a bluetooth adapter.

I always liked the first generation shuffle

Absolutely. In my opinion its the best ipod shuffle they ever made. You do not need an adapter to charge it and its not too small. When mine broke last year I bought another one from ebay instead of going with a current model.

Salutations.

They don't even sell a dock? Weak. My 2G dock lives by my iMac too. Always on, always charged and ready for action. It really is (was) the most hassle-free iPod.

Totally agree. Easiest iPod to use to date and I think that's why they moved back to the design.

The third gen shuffle looks WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY better then ANY of the other shuffles, the new forth gen one looks like a toy in comparison, well at least it isn't an iToy lol hahahahahahahahaha :D:D:D:D:D:D

It may look flashier, but the shuffle use case fits the 2nd and new current gen perfectly. The shuffle is really made for music on the go at the gym or while running or any other activity. I thought Apple had made a mistake abandoning what I thought was the perfect design in the 2nd gen and the new gen proves they thought the same thing.

Ah! Seeing that picture of the 1st gen shuffle brings back memories! It was my first iPod and that thing was definitely a great music player/USB dongle. I kinda wish I didn't trade it in for a Nano.

Good to hear other people love theirs too. :)

I would suggest not doing anything with these Shuffles (2nd or 4th) that involves humidity, sweating, or any sort of condensation. Shuffles short circuit and die when exposed to any sort of water. Mine died while I was on a walk a couple of weeks ago because it was 108 outside and it was clipped to my shorts and got some sweat on it. POS.
