I listen to mine every day in the sauna at the gym (140-150 degrees in there). That's after lifting weights, biking, whatever..... I wouldn't call it a POS, just some bad luck. It's been going strong for 2+ years after a ton of abuse.

Had 3 2nd gen shuffles in a row die of the exact same thing. They market it for workouts, yet when I take them back to Apple store I am told I am SOL.

I love the idea, I think the packaging of the actual shuffle, if it is to be used as a device that will be subjected to water and sweat, should be a little more resilient.

Consider yourself very lucky. A few of my friends are on their 3rd or 4th IPOD shuffle for similar reasons. We use them mountain biking, and they don't last. Be nice to actually have some cases that kept them from dieing, hopefully they will be released soon too.

Bad Colors

That is by far the ugliest colour I've seen.

Agreed. These glossy colors look cheap. I miss the old anodized finish. They've managed to make expensive metal look like cheesy plastic. Just my opinion.

Does that thing have a choking hazard warning!

I am really wanting to buy one now that the buttons are back and I'm running more.

That's why I ordered one..... for running. I used to have a 3rd gen/fat nano, and that was great for running. But my wife stole it from me:p

I can't stand running with my iPhone... it's too big, and when I've run without music, I hated it.

I ordered the silver one.

I'm surprised they couldn't pack more battery life into it.... 15 hours is plenty though.

The 3rd Gen iPod Nano is still my favorite. It's smallest compare to the other Nano - even the ones that came after it (except the new 6th Gen), and still has all the important features (unlike the 6th Gen).

I like the 3rd gen better than any of the other nanos as well, except possibly the newest one. I won't be able to decide that until I actually try one out.

The new nano is almost a whole new iPod model..... it's hard to consider it a part of the past nano family.

Are you kidding me?

I like the new cable: no more bulk than needed (edged out only by the Gen 1 model). My desk and bags are cluttered enough without having 3' of cable hooked to 2"sq of useless plastic requiring needless orientation. Two plugs and an inch of cable is enough. 'bout time! where can I get one without paying >$15?

Just how the hell am I going to use that cable with my iMac? Apple does some of the dumbest things to be skinny or shorten cables. Reminds me of the stupid, short USB cable for my keyboard that doesn't reach through my desk.

They should provide a dock and a decent cable for this thing. I like my current shuffle with the dock, it works great and makes life easier.

Agreed. When I was watching the keynote and Jobs said the question they kept asking was, "How do we make this smaller?", I thought, "Your question should be, 'How do we make this better?'"

It makes more sense than the last one, but the tiny cable is just silly.

Amen brother.

I agree what is the obsession with smaller and thinner? Make things better! I hope iTunes 10 is not a foreshadowing of OS 10.7. Hmmmm, let's make everything not only look alike, but let's take out all the color too!

I like the new icon and mostly the look for iTunes 10, but grayscale for the sidebar icons?

Since Leopard I frequently have to take a second look to determine whether I am in iTunes or the Finder. Windows 7 is starting to look pretty good with the direction of OS X which is hurting from resources being dedicated to iOS instead. : (

I really like the new design. I thought the 3rd gen design was a huge mistake. I train for/run half marathons with my 2G shuffle and have a silicone case on it. I like that the new shuffle doesn't use a dock; I have to remove my 2G from the case in order to charge it on the dock. Also, I'm glad that they ditched the inline-control headphones, as they were the biggest drawback to the 3G and the reason that I bought a used 2G instead of a new 3G (for about the same price, too) when I bought my shuffle. The 4G would have had the same issues as the 3G if they had included the inline-control headphones. The inline-control headphones short out if you sweat at all while wearing them. Even when I run with my iPhone, I use my regular headphones without the inline controls because of the sweat issue, even though the volume/track control is much easier with the inline-control headphones (have to deal with the sliding to unlock and looking to find the right spot on the screen to tap on the iPhone).
