You need to explain that to Wall Street investors. Good luck with that.

When people have money to spend, they spend it?

That is the very problem with Wall Street it is short term outlook/gain.

When growth slumps it is because people don't have more money to spend.

Probably Six Feet Under - Not

I wonder what kind of damage control Apple will have to do when this guy is executed for his crime.

Looks like this iPhone 6 plus.... is gonna get him 6 plus.

This guy is toast. Apple & Foxconn need to make him a HUGE example & get the word out to the factory workers.

Apple has a responsibility to make sure he is dealt with humanly & is still alive after the legal process is complete & he's sent up the river for years.

unionized ones

Really? My retail union had a zero tolerance stealing policy. I saw many people fired for "sampling to much".

Unions are pretty much at the will of employers nowadays or at least that was my experience.

Doesn't seem Foxconn slaves are that enamoured about being part of the Apple famileee.

Anyway, he'll be severely punished. China is a capitalist's wet dream - super low cost employees and a big tough state to crack skulls.

No, Apple doesn't.

The guy, a Chinese citizen, committed a crime in China, at a Chinese company (FoxConn), so he must abide by China's laws.

If a guy is caught with marijuana in an Apple store in Colorado, he's fine. If a guy is caught with marijuana in an Apple store in Utah, he might go to jail for a long time.

Should Apple step all over Utah's laws?

Poor guy was probably desperate for the money. I hope he doesn't go to prison. Losing his job and having to face the shame of his family is sufficient punishment.

Citizens of the world most poorest country having 18 trillion debt think the citizens of the world most richest country having 1.4 trillion us treasury bond are slaves. Isn't it funny?

It's about as funny as bad grammar and a complete and utter lack of understanding of how debt factors into economics on a large scale.

But the shareholders wouldn't even let it go that far, heads would roll before too long.

There are solid economic reasons for a business to pay workers better especially if your brand relies on convincing your costumers that you are not a business ;)

Would you like a "Cool Job" on the Foxconn assembly line?

I said "cool job" I never said I would work for Foxconn. This guy felt that working for Foxconn knowing that there labor is cheap, decided to steal a some of Apple products to make a quick buck would get him by. He knew his job came with cheap labor.

It's like your telling me, a drug dealer makes a quick buck to make money cause its the only job he has to feed his family.

Something that's illegal to do in another country, you say "hey, pay them more and they won't do it". So its ok?

Keep dreaming buddy.

This poor guy... Stealing is wrong but I'm pretty sure his consequence is going to be bad (and he may even /himself).... he *probably* only did it because of the lure of a few extra bucks... $960 may seem like little to us, but it's probably a LOT to a foxconn worker.

There is no goddamn excuse. I'm tired of people excusing theft. The guy wasn't living off the street, he had a job and stole from his employer. This is bad for the reputation of Foxcon, they know it and they have to clamp down.

They're NOT part of Apple's family, just like FedEx employees who handle shipping of Apple's products - they're not part of the family either.

If a FedEx employee is caught stealing Apple products before they're delivered, should that employee feel the wrath of FedEx or Apple? Should Apple step in and help out the FedEx employee? Ridiculous.

Agreed, debt as a measure of GDP is a better way to look at it.

18 trillion is a big number but in reality it is about 1 year of the United States GDP which when compared to other countries is not very bad.

So, if someone steals 30K from a company in the US (probably the equivalent), you think someone should be all lenient because hey, he needed the money and the company is rich anyway? Man, what I am hearing here!!

Foxcon employees probably have some of the best conditions in all Chinese factories because Apple is under so much scrutiny. They are in no way slave labor. They live better than people working at MCD do in US states with no minimum wage.

This is a very good example of poor reasoning ability and a sort of basic lack of decency being put into practice.

Previously thought to be an event center, we now know what the 'dungeon' is for at the new Apple spaceship campus.

Not at all sufficient.

To stop crimes from occurring, you need punishment. If other FoxConn employees found out that they would only lose their job, and not get jail time, they might be encouraged to steal more, because the upside far outweighs the downside.

Hey, I'll steal something worth 2 months wages. If I get caught, I lose my job, I'll be able to find another job in 2 months. Free vacation! Woo Hoo!
