Just opened my mail (the stuff that came in on Friday)... and I have a free voucher sitting on my kitchen table now haha... I'll be going to pick up my microcell tomorrow from att and then selling it, as I already own one lol... wonder how much I'll get from it?

I got my current one for $75 from a friend at att so maybe I'll at least break even.

Nice try...

It's got three sets of numeric identifiers, registered to you. Read the documentation, you don't own it.*

AT&T knows where you live.

Uh... I def. own one... do you "want a pic" lmao... I'll go snap one for you?

The reverse side of the letter states:

retail price of 3g microcell is regularly 149.99 free 3g microcell offer is non-transferrable and may only be redeemed by a subscriber on the qualified account referenced on mailer during the period june 15, 2010 - august 15 2010 cannot be combined with promotions or discounts other than those described here offer available while supplies last.

there are 2 more paragraphs but i'm to lazy to type them...

As a side note... I could potentially own 100 microcells and att would have no clue if they weren't registered thru att.com/3gmicrocell...

But as another side note... maybe you should read the documentation on att's website?

Q. Can I use more than one AT&T 3G MicroCell device?

A. Yes, they may be used in different locations or within the same location if 5000 square feet of coverage is not sufficient.

I pay nearly $250 on my family plan with 1 iPhone and a Blackberry. I'll check the mail more carefully because I'd love to get a Microcell seeing as I have 1 bar in my house.

I also have a home in the bay area with terrible coverage. So many tree's and hills... There are no cell towers near the ocean so it's 0-1 bars.

I lived near the bay for 17 years and always had terrible cellphone reception with Sprint & AT&T. Moved and made sure I had full bars at my new abode. Since I bought two iPhone 4 I've noticed that my bars fluctuate between 4-5 bars; while I had full bars with 3G and 3GS. I'm looking for my 3GMicroCell letter everyday...

I'm on Premier and didn't get anything either.

I only have a single line, I wasn't expecting one.

Spoke to someone at business care and he didn't know anything about this. I guess i'll have to wait and see if we get anything in the mail.

I'm on the phone with them right now as well and they told me that they don't know anything about it either. I'm waiting to speak with a supervisor currnetly, lol. This is so stupid; I just can't see how they are sending out letters and they just deny that they don't know what is going on. It annoys me cause they know exactly what is going on.

Is the letter directly from AT&T or is it from a third party?

I pay over $300 a month and no voucher in sight.

Wow, I hope I get one of those. I just bought a MicroCell about 2 weeks ago! Would love to be able to return it or see if they'd just refund me with the letter.

I as well would love to get a free Microcell. I've been pondering buying one anyways, but I get between 1-3 bars here (with the current software revision on the iPhone, which we know "overestimates".)

I'll wait a week or two for the voucher, and if I don't get one, I'll probably just buy one. $150 upfront and zero monthly charges isn't a horrible price. Zero upfront an zero monthly is better, though. ;)

Free Microcell

I received the same letter in Orlando, and yes, went to the store and picked up my free MicroCell.

Here are a couple of notes, I am a premier customer with AT&T (company FAN code) and spend out $110 per month for my cell. I did report that I've had spotty issues with coverage on my iPhone using the iPhone application with AT&T, so maybe they are using this data to target customers.

While I was at the store, I did check the fine print, there was NONE. No contract extension, no additional costs, no rebates. I just walked in, handed them a letter and they checked out my Microcell with a $149.99 discount.

It's important to note, you need the letter. They have a separate promotion, that they are giving away the Mircocell after $150 in rebate cards IF you sign up for the $19.99 a month for additional minutes. This is NOT REQUIRED if you have the letter.

Magic link? If so, i'm going to be like that "can you hear me now" verizon wireless guy and roam the globe charting dead spots.

I got the letter yesterday too. Gonna pick it up ASAP because service in my house sucks.

FYI: iphone 3Gs, 900 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data, been a customer for about two years, have about a year left of my current contract.

ATT is really trying here. I wonder if it's because they want people to stop complaining about the service so they don't lose their cash cow iphone contract?

Has anyone with the new iphone received this letter? maybe they are trying to tip the scale for those that are holding out for a possible verizon launch?

I'd love verizon but i'm not holding my breath. Gonna get the booster, then get the white when it launches.

Only if you choose to allow it to not cut into your minutes. Otherwise it is the one time fee

The way it works is simple...it takes your calls and routes it through the internet. Same as Verizon and Sprint's devices. AT&T goes further buy saying that if you pay a monthly fee, any phone usage on that device will not count against your monthly Cell minutes.

I see. So I have the privilege of paying AT&T more money for a product that gives me the level of service they promised in the first place? And not only that, this device that charges me extra for unlimited calls from my home uses MY internet connection for which I already pay $40-$50/mo? And I still have to keep paying the same amount on my AT&T bill even though I can't use the service where I need it the most?

This makes a lot of sense.

You are all Wrong. There are two payment plans. One is $150 upfront one timem fee but you don't get free calls from your house or another one where you pay something around $50 and have to pay $20 a month fo unlimited from your House. I bought it full just for signal strength and it work s pretty good. I wouldn't go for the unlimited plan unless you work out of your house and call a large range of people from different networks. I have my 900 plan with my favorite 5 non att people for free and I'm still way within my minutes.

We put one at my dad's house (we added him as a line on my account) and unlike where I live he gets 0-2 bars depending on the weather and how planets align and whatnot. The device was $150 because we didn't add any additional services with it, but these are the correct plans:

Use your minutes - no cost, but no rebates
Unlimited minutes - $20/month, but you get rebates on the device

Despite it using your internet service, it also routes through AT&T's equipment at the other end (you don't need any sort of service at your house, so it works in 0 bar areas), so they still have to do some work. This is why it's not free unlimited calling.

In all, it's a pretty good device that works as advertised.

Raleigh, NC: Got the same letter but no micro-cells yet at my AT&T store. Spend about $180 a month for 3 phones (2 iPhones) and never complained but yeah, the coverage at my location is kinda bad.

Will get my free microcell as soon as I can find one and will set it up. Free cell, no additional recurring charge, this is how these should be distributed all along. I think AT&T is definitely feeling the pressure to retain their customers...

There doesn't seem to be any unique numbers on there. Does the AT&T people type anything (such as account number) in at the store? It seems like people could just print a fake letter saying "free microcell" and get one.

Oh, i agree...It sucks. shelling out more money for how the service should have been in the first place.
