They had been redirecting traffic off the main site, now it looks like that one is down as well. I will be on my way to Chicago soon, thank god for the iPhone, I should still be able to register before the 48 hour deadline.

Looks like you submit your email to get a serial.

The "downloads" are up, although web site contents cannot be accessed at this time.
Do you ned a serial number for the "fully unlocked" version that is up today? I clicked on "get a serial number" and it asks for my email but says that I may not get it for several days.

Well, I would normally take advantage of this, but... I downloaded the trial about a month ago and found it bumped heads with Parallels and VMware, so I tried it on another machine. It did not support what I needed. I kept crashing whenever an app needed the .net framework, which is pretty much required by all newer MS apps.

It may be a great tool and atleast someone is putting support and development into WINE, but I don't think it is their yet for the advanced or newer apps.

With that said, I heard office runs well in it.

I like using it for quick things that I don't want to start up VMWare for. I haven't yet tried running a full audio software suite on it, but I think I might try. Trouble is having a copy of the program in Applications and in the virtual drive. I don't try using it together with VMWare as I could see how that would get frustrating.

I am guessing only the particular version is free (no updates?).

Any thoughts on that?

Having only one necessary Windows program, I am a registered user of CrossOver Mac 7.0.2. Apparently the difference between Regular and Pro is the length of support. One has 6 months, the other is a full year of updates. Just to verify, I downloaded the "Pro" version to compare with what I already have. After the archive decompresses, the disk image and application is labeled "CrossOver" (no "Pro") version 7.1.

More details are required from Codeweavers to determine what, if any, level of support or upgrades are included. I imagine this "free software" promotion excludes phone support and displays update alerts that may cost the user if they make it up to the first decimal (7.2). An update from 7.0.2 to 7.1 has occurred within the past week.

I downloaded and installed it and I was never asked for my serial#.

I have successfully installed Quicken 2007, restored my files, and everything seems to be working fine. This is a very big deal for me, as Quicken was the only reason I was running Parallels. I'm going to test it a little more, before I start jumping up and down, because Codeweaver's site shows Quicken 2007 as bronze.

Wow, that awesome. I though Quicken 2007 did not work with Crossover. I am so glad I found this today and can not wait to get home to try out Quicken 2007 on the Mac. Might finally get my wife to dump windows....

Na, I'm sorry to break it to you, but it runs amazingly slow! You may have different results; if you do, please post.

Provided if you couldn't get into the site to login and register the software (with the 'free day') stuff, it shows the level of support which is 1yr.

The SN given out (I did all my software downloading last night around 10/11pm EST) works with 7.1.1 (the newest download) 7.1.0 is what they offer for download. 7.1.0 actually happened a few weeks ago, 7.1.1 was released this week I believe.

I'll post and I hate to break it to you, but it runs quite well on my machine (sig). Quicken 2007 was the last software I got for Windows before switching over (got it in a bundle with turbo tax) and I wanted to see if it ran (until they update the Mac version) and it runs great, yes, it DOES run great on my machine. Can't help those it doesn't run well for, but for me and my wife's MB it runs just fine, definitely NOT 'amazingly slow' as you put it.

Yah, I got 4 copies (for 4 computers) last night around 10/11pm EST. Was real easy, they're all installed, Orange Box installed on 1 of them, LOTRO installed on 2 of them, runs like a champ!

Lord of the Rings Online actually works with this? That and word are the only reasons I actually use bootcamp! How does it run compared to bootcamp!? Now i'm itching to leave work and try it out!

I have Home and Small Business, 3 different files, all with multiple accounts. Do you do a lot of switching between accounts and files? Just curious if maybe there is something I can tweak.

I have Vista on bootcamp running Office 2007. I just installed Office 2007 on this and it runs just as smooth and fast. I tested Powerpoint, Word, and Excel on it. Awesome.

Good to hear! Office 2008 for Mac is a shameful, shameful piece of garbage. I'm not a fan of 2007 for windows, but at least it WORKS. Heh, i'm at least glad that my school give both out for free. I would be fuming if I actually paid for 2008.

does anyone know if Spore works with this? i'm currently basically only playing that, so it would be great if it was supported...

and im still confused about the difference, why are there two versions, how are they different?

I hated 2008 for Mac also. I got iWork, but overall I like Office 2007 the best. MS does a lot of things wrong, but IMO they did well on their Office products.

You might want to back up your data and try some tweaking, I installed home and small business (small business for my contractor consulting work) and I opened both up and it runs fine. I don't have a need for to many accounts except for home where I have several bank accounts.

If you have to many things pointing in to many directions it will more than likely run slow, remember it's a simulated windows environment (not emulated which is different) so it's probably getting bottlenecked or something.

I'm pretty sure there's some tweaks you can do to get it running faster.

I will say when Intuit updates the quicken line, my crossover version will be deleted so this is just a welcome quick fix until that happens.

I'm also considering Quickbooks for Mac but not sure if that's overkill for my needs. Until then, this free day is perfect. Now I can delete my bootcamp partition.

I thought people have been able to install it without getting a serial number back from Codeweavers, can anybody confirm?

I got the serial number, but the link said I would have to comeback later to use it because of traffic. Then someone on this thread provided a link where you could download it for today only without a serial number. I used that link and it downloaded fine without asking for a serial number. It is only good for those who use it today I think.
