I'm sorry, but at what point in my comment did you see my complaining about the price of things?

I was simply stating how things are. We get benefits from this too, like everything we buy coming with 1 or 2 years warranty as standard.

I'm not asking for things to be cheaper, I was just stating our priorities are different and you should compare without context.

I thought you said things cost a lot more??? "everything costs a lot more" . Or cant you remember what you complaining about anymore? :p

Seems like an infinite loop to me........

Pay higher % in taxes, ask for more pay and benefits to make up for it, pay more taxes on those, ask for more pay to cover those, pay more taxes on that..... You get the drift.

But so many people believe it's gonna work just dandy here in the US with healthcare and everything else. By the time the govt has a stranglehold on all healthcare insurance, there'll be no choice, which means no point in anyone giving good healthcare, and nobody providing it on any sort of timely basis. Benefits will keep getting inneficiently tacked on, and costs will keep rising and it will all come right out of your paycheck before you even discuss a salary. Just as it does with social security and healthcare benefits now.

Dear Americans ridiculing the 13th month of pay,

Do you get a bonus at the end of the year?

Only if my employer had a good year and I met or exceeded my performance targets.

The "13th month" seems like a shell game. If I pay someone $5,000 month for 12 months or $4615 11 months out of the year and "double" in December, it still works out to $60,000.

Since when does your job not only give you a lunch break but also pay for your food?

Many parts of Europe have legislated that as part of their labor law. If you work certain number of hours, your employer must either provide free food (and yes, there are laws in countries that specify what type, temperature, etc) or as an alternative, provide meal vouchers.

So, you can make X per day and buy your own food, or you can make X minus cost of food and we'll provide it "free". Most employees in Europe will choose the second option.

Dear Americans ridiculing the 13th month of pay,

Do you get a bonus at the end of the year? Yes? Well that's your 13th month of pay.

Love and kisses,

Socialist Europe.

i agree

i have lots of friends living in the US, they have an annual bonus which is way more higher than a 13th month...

i am wondering why so much criticism against France... is this ignorance ?

The US are a great country... a great country with very wealthy people on one hand and a lot of working poors on the other hand

We don't want that in Europe

The sad thing is, since not all the Apple employees are part of this striking union, the ones who do work tomorrow will have to work harder. And will probably resent their coworkers who don't show up.

They should resent them. And they should get a bonus. iPhone 5s for everyone!

Kinda like going to see Oprah in hopes of getting a new car.

I have performance based bonuses. Not just for showing up.

Love and kisses,

Working American

Its called socialism btw. Its based on the mathematical formula for "winning".

Most "Americans" get 24 paychecks in one year.

No matter how many slices in a pizza, still the same pie.

Google, Yahoo and Microsoft just gave free products to their worldwide employees...

Apple is the wealthiest company in the world and sometimes, working conditions look like Chinese conditions

try to bear an office running hot all day (35-40°C)

Perhaps they should go work in the factories that make the iPhones. That might broaden their perspective a little.

you are all really funny..
Have you ever travelled outside your small country to say such thing? Please visit Paris, visit China, and please stop saying such BS...

Maybe, you (and only you) should take the place of a worker in such factory. This would give you a lil perspective.

And for all the others that allow themselves to treat French guys like stupid idiots.. look at yourselves first.

I'm French AND American. And sometimes, I am ashamed of what my people say.

what a joke.

unions + european "benefits" explain why nothing excellent ever gets done on that side of the world.

I wouldn't mind it. Relaxed life, great safety net, guaranteed education, much of it high quality and free, delicious food, beautiful women, amazing countryside, close to dozens of other nations, progressive, etc.

Oui Oui

Forgot the free baguette, wine, and cheese for all employees while they "work".

No wonder the French lost every war they ever fought in the last 150 years.

They are SOFT!!!!

guys,

yes free water fountain

the AC has been down for ages at the Apple Store at the Louvre, staff has been working for the last 3 years with inconsistent temperature conditions topping 40°C

try to work in these conditions before criticizing

as for meal vouchers... Opera and Louvre are locating in very expensive tourist locations of Paris

the less expensive meal would be McDonald's

unless you want to eat something else than this kind of crap, one must spend a significant amount everyday, compared to low wages given in France

I take my lunch to work, you can take your lunch to work...

I can understand wanting water fountains, but meal vouchers and a 13th month of pay I cannot understand. I'd like to have that too, but it isn't going to happen!

Get back to work!
