With any luck, Apple will lose, and we can have a Slate or a Canvas or anything else.

Also, Apple TV was iTV, but they made it very clear at the announcement that it was a code name.

iPad is far too close to iPod. Different accents around the world will make them sound exactly the same. In fact, during the Keynote, Steve said iPod instead of iPad (or at least it sounded very close to iPod).

iSlate would have been far better.. I was half expecting iSlate to be the "one more thing".



My favourite is, "rev B is rumoured to include wings".

My friend also commented on this. He said that "iPad sounds too much like a feminine hygiene product".

It should have been iSlate or iNote or iSomething.

No Apple didn't. Apple just tend to use i<something> more than anyone else.

Hopefully Fujitsu wins this fight. iPad is a terrible name. Fujitsu did Apple a favor by trademarking the name, but Apple just went and gave it the iPad name anyway.

Exactly the figures I was thinking of. The 'Apple iPad' has been mentioned on every technology blog and news website. Apple can't let that publicity escape them by having to change the name.

Haha exactly . . I really don't care for the name. It rolls off the tongue, but I think it's only because there was an ipod before it. I would have preferred canvas or something like that. But then again, there are a couple things missing from the ipad that I would prefer to have seen lol. That's another story entirely.

Why?

Because they abandoned the trademark.
Then they said "Hey we forgot about it"

"Applicant has firsthand knowledge that the failure to respond to the Office Action by the specified deadline was unintentional, and requests the USPTO to revive the abandoned application."

If their iPad is so important why did they stop selling it and why/how could they forget they had the patent ?

I will also note there are 5 other patents for the trademark "iPad" from different companies. Why isn't Fijuzu going after them ?

Apple need to give up the name "iPad". I saw the old MadTV skit where they were poking fun of a maxipad that plays music called, yes you guessed it the "iPad".

Let go of the name and start using "iSlate" or something around those lines.

Or Apple could fight and then make a line of "iPad" covers called iCondoms.
