iPad is a horrible name and they should just left Fujitsu have it. Why not resurrect the iBook name? Seems like it would have been a better choice. Of course then you need a new name for the iBooks application.

Ok. Not sure who started the whole "i" this and that, but it seems Apple got the biggest boost with the iMac and thus the "i" naming scheme. Which I hate. But it would seem that any company calling a product "i" something, especially with the lower case "i", is in a way copying Apple and trying to get a boost in sales by consumers confusing it for what could be an Apple product.

The iBooks app could become iReader. There you go, problem solved, and everyone's a winner. Fujitsu gets their name back so they can not use it in peace; Apple gets out of using the same name gracefully; and I may get to own 2 iBooks, one of which is a laptop!

Simple...change the name to iPod Touch XL and problem is solved. With the new name, Apple would actually be naming the device with a name that accurately describes what it truly is.

I've used Fujitsu's iPad. I worked at Stop and Shop for 5 years and they use it to control their cash registers remotely. It is nothing like the Apple iPad. Just runs WinMo with a credit card swipe and an IR scanner...pretty straight forward lol..

ok for all of you that call a girls sanitary rag a pad, no one calls it that anymore. its a tampon. also if you think of a pad that way then your just messed up. a pad can be other things.

I was taught these were two different devices with two different, um, form factors.

ROFL I'd love to know what other *alternative* words he has in his dictionary. Not much female interaction me thinks?

any company so unoriginal that they resort to using Apple's iconic i* format naming, deserves to have their product obliterated when Apple decides to use the name. they were trying to ride on Apple's coattails, and Apple's turned around and said 'f@#$ you you unoriginal tossers'

yah i new people would reply this way, so i looked it up just to be extra safe and it says a tampion is considered to be both while a pad isnt.

any way can we talk about the damn device instead of women cloth?

I'm not sure why there's such a fuss over calling something a pad . Maybe it's more of an American thing. The iTampon would be much more of an issue over here. Having said that, when the Wii came out many couldn't believe that Nintendo would call a device after urine ("they are taking the piss" was the usual line) but once it was established the titters died down.

terrible name anyway...

if it's a PAD... then you have to be able to WRITE ON IT.

there is no question. pads are written on. end of story.

how can you call it a pad when there is no writing? stupid!

well with the "i" id assume something along the lines of interactive pad, with regards to typing as opposed to writing. similar to me.

and yeah I dont get the huge fuss over it. apparently some feminist site has been bashing it saying its offensive to women?? lol okay.
im all for what they stand for, but come on some people are taking themselves way toooo seriously over something so minuscule.

Besides I dont know anyone, esp female in the recent decade or so refer to a womens product as a pad....where was the feminist bashing on the "Notepads" lol.

Honestly i think it fits...iPod was an interesting name but really it this futuristic feel and sound to it in a sense, something that isnt or wasnt ever done or used before.
While it might have not been my first name id call the tablet, its not that bad.

spot the guy who knows nothing about women. it's ok, when you grow up you'll find out that tampons go inside, while pads do not. they're not the same thing at all. either that or you'll find you like munching on pillows

Humm... I wonder why Apple is constantly being sued for patient infringements? Nokia just to name latest. I think people are just jealous of Apple and their "Originality".

Well said. If Apple do launch the iTampon then we would really know they are screwing us.
