All of the fancy cool countdown this week and all the marketing and anticipation, without a new iPhone announcement? Something is wrong, I wonder if they dropped the iPhone announcement at the last minute?

I guess my disappointment is the fact that the main focus of this event was a really unsubstantial Apple Watch upgrade as well as being bombarded with “services”.

The world is changing. In the old days, you were excited to watch because you were getting a machine, a tool, that worked right out of the box. It specifically let you do things that were a pain to do on a Windows box, for instance.

Or a music player that held all of your music.

Or a cellphone that was actually competent.

Now the hardware is the portal that allows you to access Apple services. The focus has shifted from your digital life to Apple’s digital life.

Only if someone cares enough about Apple's digital life. Which, most people outside of the US totally don't.

Currently have an Apple watch series 3 - tempted to upgrade as I've held off upgrading the last few years. To be honest the series 6 doesn't sound like a huge upgrade over the series 5, but will be a very nice upgrade from my series 3.

Fitness+ seems completely irrelevant for me. I run outdoors, don't currently have access to a treadmill (I don't go to the gym in these days of COVID), and am not interested in fitness classes. So that's an easy pass for me.

I have an iPad Pro 2020. The new iPad Air looks pretty good, but I'm still happy with my iPad Pro 2020 and I really needed to use it for the last few months. If I didn't already have an iPad Pro I'd be tempted by the new iPad Air. The power button touch ID would be pretty sweet if they put it on an iPhone though (but I'm not looking to upgrade my iPhone this year).

Still no love for the iPad mini I see!
The series 4+ only watch faces (infograph) are worth the upgrade alone honestly. I use mine all the time for glanceable info at work and at home. The fact that it's a lot faster than the 3 and has a much nicer display is extra. Upgrade, you won't regret it.

Recycled metal should be indistinguishable from new metal. But at this point, a majority of metal is recycled anyway.

The kicker to me is that gluing aluminum and glass together make both non-recycleable. And Apple has been doing that for years and continues to do so with these "environmental" products.
Airpods that are disposable as well. Straight to the landfill.

Apple One actually seems like a good bargain. Clearly intended to draw interest to the services that nobody cares about (arcade, news) but as somebody who pays for music and iCloud already it is worth considering.

Yikes, that was pretty disappointing.

Apple Watch Series 6: Not really a worthy upgrade unless you're on a Series 3 or older. Maybe the SE will appeal to some.
Services: Not available yet, but also nothing really groundbreaking here (IMO). I also don't really use Apple Services beyond iCloud so maybe I'm in the minority.
iPad: A spec bump (only improvement is A12 from A10) that didn't deserve an event.
iPad Air: Looks great, but considering it doesn't ship soon, not sure why they discussed it today.
iPhones: Obviously not even mentioned.
Macs: Nothing.

It seems they could have just done a press release for the Apple Watch and updated iPad. The Services and iPad Air should have been announced later this fall with the iPhones and Macs.

the rumors already said it will be an October event for iPhones.

I actually went into this with a very open mind looking forward to an Apple Watch with blood oxygen monitoring and the tracking tile.

In my case, acting like a rubber band is some magical new invention from Apple and describing it like nobody has ever seen one before was a huge turn-off, that left me so disgusted I never recovered. The frame of mind that idiocy left me in left me viewing the whole whole rest of the presentation in a very negative point of view, so yeah, I hated the whole thing.
considering you can buy a pulse ox finger reader for 20 bucks on amazon....but apple treating this like the next coming of slice bread. When they were talking about diabetes i thought they managed to included prickless glucose measuring.....nope :(

But is it worth the upgrade from an AW4? Not sure :(
If you have pulmonary issues like I do it's a flat out no brainer. Plus, I could use the always on display when timing things. It's annoying that the display goes off when I'm watching the hand move. I like that they added an always on altimeter. We hike in CO (where we live) and the kids are ALWAYS asking how much elevation we've gained. I use Altimeter+ for that now but having it at a split second would be nice.

If Series 7 doesn’t take my blood pressure I’m not upgrading till Series 8 which will take my temperature
