You need to look up the definition of objective and subjective.
This thread is subjective and opinion based.
Saying the new icons are inferior is subjective and opinion based, but they certainly have softer edges.

Like 10 people around me all switched to iOS26 and I don't think most of them have even noticed. With what did she have trouble? My stepdaughter got suckered into installing 26.1 and began sending me freaked-out messages. She immediately said something about switching to Android. I swear—Apple has really stepped in it when non-techie 30-something’s are freaking out.
People who are saying it's not blurry are right though. There's a number of stacked effects that can give one the impression that it's blurry, but they're not blurry. Saying that people who say that are just gaslighting is asinine and not listening to their argument. No, the siliness was bringing that bias into the discussion instead of offering help to the OP. People here are telling the OP that they can't see the difference, defending that it is not blurry, saying the first screenshot looks better, telling him he'll get used to it. That's just gaslighting. He had a valid complaint and other people told them their opinion instead of acknowledging his issues. Just a complete lack of common decency.
There is a pretty huge difference between pointing out a pretty clear and obvious pattern relating to a general subset of forum posters and personally attacking forum members. If my doing the former has made you feel like I did the latter, some introspection on your part is probably warranted.Insulting a number of forum members at once will earn you a special privilege here at Macrumors.

There is a pretty clear difference between disagreeing with some opinions and outright insulting a group of posters by claiming they are lying. While I'm sure you meant "latter" instead of "former" in your comment, the reality is that I did neither. I simply pointed out that some users in these forums have a famously predictable slant on most topics (btw, I include myself in that assertion). Again, if you feel insulted by that, there is probably a good reason why. There is a pretty clear difference between disagreeing with some opinions and outright insulting a group of posters by claiming they are lying. ETA - I certainly did not claim anyone was lying. That was an interpretation of my comment you made up entirely on your own. I don’t feel insulted just noticing the commentary.
Sure, but that doesn't make it any less odd of a design choice. Mobile devices are things that people use up close - why would they want to have interactive parts of the interface look like something that is far away? This seems to be a situation of defined hard edges compared to soft feathered edges. Is anything in reality have hard defined edges when looking at it from a distance. When looking at it closely it does but at a distance the ambient light and our eyes makes it look soft.
As they say here in Canada: okaybud.Quick question. Are you going to be passive-aggressive and insult posters or going to discuss the topic? I don’t feel insulted just noticing the commentary.
Change for the sake of change and zero functional improvement is rarely a good thing. But to your point there are a group of people who like iOS 26. I get people believe there are some visual glitches and bugs to be ironed out, but to me no more than other releases.
It’s not change for the sake of change. If that is the case then iOS 6 was change for the sake of change as was iOS 7.Change for the sake of change and zero functional improvement is rarely a good thing.
Download the 2 screenshots, open them in the Viewer and zoom both at 1:1. The icons from the iPad are nearly 3 times taller.
In order to compare icons between the 2 images, you guys are zooming the icons from the iPhone, which will of course become more pixelated, even if the iPhone screenshot has a higher dpi.
well, no... Blur means it's out of focus and therefor the color value of pixels "bleed out" into neighboring pixels. Here the elements are exactly where they are supposed to be and show refraction effects, every pixel is exactly the color gradient it's meant to be to mimic that effect. The "impression" that it's blurry means it is "blurry" to human eyes and that's all that actually matters.
That's literally the definition of blurry. The icons are softer without hard edges. This is not the same characterization as blurry.
But according MR's liquid gaslighters, this abomination is "subjective" and they love it.
You’re literally saying that just because something looks like it’s blurry, that doesn’t mean that it’s blurry. Alan Dye, is that you?well, no... If you look at the screenshots of that interface, and show it on a display 1:1, you wouldn't say "this display is blurry" because the image it's showing shows blurring/refraction effects.
The mist-fog at the top of messages, etc.Like 10 people around me all switched to iOS26 and I don't think most of them have even noticed. With what did she have trouble?
So why have a 4k tee vee if our eyes see soft?“I see dead people”, oops wrong forum. 😅

In the above scenario LiquidGlass has achieved its outcome. I personally like it but some prefer hard defined edges and no my eyesight is fine it’s a preference thing.
Is there any way to fix this? My phone has auto updates on, and I stupidly didn’t do any research into how bad ios26 is. The photos show comparisons of my iPad and iPhone and you can see how blurry the apps look on the phone. It just looks broken. Like an old VHS tape.
Both devices have reduced transparency on and the iPhone has increased contrast which only helped slightly.

Mine is on ios26.1. Does 26.2 improve anything or is it just as bad?Welcome to blur-o-vision! I’m used to it now but it fried my brain after I updated.
Just for your info after updating to ios26.2 automatic download and install of iOS is selected. You need to disable it again in settings if you don’t want it to update.

I have turned off automatic updates on my iPad so it can stay on ios18 thank goodness.
I can understand what some people are saying about things we see in the distance having softer edges but a phone is used up close so it should be sharp. The blurriness keeps making me squint, as if my eyes are trying to fix it. I’m stuck with it so I’ll have to get used to it but I really can’t understand why any company would deliberately do this to their product.
The first comment she said was everything is fuzzy and soft and hard to look at now.
