It must be slow RAM.I ordered this on the first, it got picked up, and has been sitting at the shipping facility in Carson, CA for 4 days now...
Got my new 15" Macbook Pro & G.Skill 8 GB kit this past Friday. Today I installed and booted my MBP for the first time. When I was going through setup, I would get a screen that would say "You need to reboot your computer" (or something close to that) 3 or 4 times. Figuring it was the new RAM, I put the Apple stock RAM back in and everything works fine. Just curious if anyone else has had an issue. I'm guessing that I just got a bad kit, but wanted to see if anyone else had an issue. Will return it tomorrow, and order RAM from OWC and use their rebate for Apple RAM to offset the cost.
With the 8gb G.Skill installed, I would run the apple hardware test see if that catches anything. How to do this is documented in the white booklet that came with your new mbp. Just hold down 'd' during a reboot.
It's also possible (though not really likely) the RAM wasn't seated properly when you installed it. You can try to reseat it and try again, but it sounds like your probably got some bad RAM.
Anyone else installed this in their mpb that isn't the 2011 or 2010 model? I have a mid-09 mbp, so I think it should work just fine as well.
I got mine a few days ago. It was working ok, until suddenly I started getting kernel panics (e.g. system freezing). I did the Apple hardware test and it gave me this error message about 2 seconds into the test:
4MEM/4/4000000; 0x847d6598.
I put the stock memory back in, ran the hardware test, and no errors given. I've yet to test my system properly after this, but will report back if the kernel panics return.
What do you guys think, bad memory kit? Send them back and get a pair of Crucial instead?

for every 2 people who had issues, thousands are probably running it just fine.
Got my new RAM, installed it, and what do you know - back to the start. Freezes and lock-ups, the computer not being able to wake up from sleep for one.
Put back the old Apple memory and no problems so far.
Have requested a refund, and put in an order for Crucial. No more G.SKILL for me.
Just placed an order for that on Monday.$65 shipped.

This seems really cheap. Is this compatible with the 2011 - 13'' Macbook Pro? Looks to be. Any setbacks to this? Its an unknown brand but has a lifetime warranty.
Ordered this Tuesday and received today in the mail from Newegg for $63 shipped. Using GeekBench 64 bit, my results were:
4gb (stock)- 10,967
8gb upgrade- 11,138
Rig is 2.2ghz i7 15' / standard hdd (still looking for vertex 3)
Not much based on geekbench numbers, but using some photoshop, i can noticeably tell the difference in times. But hey, $63, cheap and worthy upgrade!
