I also read the review and I was tempted for a moment to think about getting it, but there are still some things that the iPhone does better:
  • Build quality is the best
  • The display is still the best
  • 4,65 is too big for me. I think the sweet spot is 4". I prefer the iPhone's 3,5" screen to a 4,65" one.
  • The ecosystem is far better
  • Siri is really great

Wow coming FROM an Android phone this is one badass piece of hardware (because of ICS 4.0). The hardware is weak compared to the iPhone 4S but damn ICS 4.0 is looking mighty good! The iPhone 4S still has the ups on these catagories:

CPU + GPU
Camera (best in the business)
Overall screen with the Galaxy Nexus close behind and I mean real close

Everything else is a toss up, the tech geek in me loves the Android OS and how you can customize the hell out of it. I'll wait for a better Android phone that can actually compete with the iPhone 4S in the above catagories before even thinking about switching.

Pretty sure the HTC Rezound is tops in display right now. 4.3in 1289x720 HD with a 341 ppi. I know that chaps some peoples asses, but it's the truth. Apple lost that badge as well.

I carry an iPhone 4 for work. The screen on the Rezound is better, guys, both on paper and to my eye. It ain't pentile, and I can find no flaw (again, to my eye).

If this does come out on AT&T, I would like to know when. Ever since the release of the 3G iPhone I've had iPhones and nothing has been able to come close. I tried the first nexus for a week, loved it. Just not enough at the time so I went back to the iPhone. I'd definitely be willing to give this a shot just to see where it takes me.

The only thing that kept me back about android was it wasn't ever fluid enough for me like the experience iOS gives me.

Mother of Science, the phone looks really cheap and ugly compared to the beauty of the iPhone 4S, I mean it's all plastic and the camera doesn't take quality pictures like the current iPhone does...

I'm used to the simplistic beauty of two glass panels sandwiched on a stainless steel band :)

I'm just used to the simplistic beauty of two glass panels sandwiched on a stainless steel band then jammed in to 1lb of plastic or silicone so it survives an 18in fall. :)

Fixed.

You may call it simplistic beauty, I call it idiocy. Such a terrible idea for a phone. It does feel wonderful in the hand, but that belies its extreme fragility. The screen to black borders ratio has looked outdated since the four launched and now with the 4s it just looks archaic when viewed straight on.

The Galaxy Nexus does seem a beast of a phone, with incredibly impressive specs, but it's just not doing it for me in the design department. I should love it, but I keep thinking "meh". Maybe that'll change when I get the chance to play around with one.

I've decided that I'm not replacing my 4 with a 4s and so far i'm torn between the Nokia N9 and the Nokia Lumia 800, which I think is a phenomenal design.

lol steve wozniak is even looking for one

As for the Galaxy Nexus, it looks a lot better than previous Android phones. I've tried previous Android phones in store and they didn't feel very fluid. Looks like the Galaxy Nexus will be the first that gets the hardware and software right. I'm going to have to try it out in store to see if it works as good as it looks in the videos.

You may call it phenomenal design, I call it lack of original design.

The Nokia N9 and Nokia Lumia 800 look like an oversized iPod nano 4th gen...nothing new

The iPhone 4/4S is still the best looking phone out there with a quality and simplistic design that works

I love the iPhone 4/4s design and also think it's the best looking but it simply does not work. Do you know what work means?

if it takes a simple fall it shatters, so I'm forced to cover up that beautiful design with a crappy cover. I like having my tech naked dammit.

A comparison of how he broke down each score for both devices

I dont mean to offend, but is this the way reviews should be compared?

In review comments then you always see people pitting review scores vs review scores rather than discussing the content but Ive always felt the score portion of reviews to be in a capsule so something scoring an 8 gives an indication of how it ranks as a sole device rather than how it ranks vs another product being an 8. But based on reading many review comments (especially TV Show/Gaming review comments) then people are constantly nitpicking on things like "How did New Girl get an 8.5 when Seinfeld got an 8.3? Theres no way New Girl is better than Seinfeld!" because they value those numbers rather than the review words.

Anyway, I love The Verge because they obviously prefer Apple products in their daily life but they never let that interfere with their opinions on other products (unlike shills like Ihnatko, Pogue or Ars Technica).

Don't drop it, nobody's forcing you to do anything, if you're that clumsy and drop it, then it's your fault, not Apple's

Say it when next iPhone come with larger than 3.5" display .. huh? You're gonna eat your own words I suppose.

Seriously. I'll take the thumbs down for saying it, but anybody who says they wont EVER want a phone larger than the iPhone is going to look silly when Apple finally gets with this decade. Smartphones havent been "single hand" devices for years so all this crying that "my thumb cant reach across a 4" screen" is just lame excuse and IF given a choice next gen then even the most loyal Apple defender will heavily consider a bigger screen once they have it in their hands. :D

While the OS and phone do look nice, don't forget that this phone and OS were integrated together. Just like iPhone and OS, there is much more harmony. I doubt that will carry over to other phones or even current phones that may be updated. It's going to get inconsistent again, despite what google and other's say. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. I do like a lot of the features they packed into ICS, a couple of them I wouldn't mind seeing in iOS. If I was going for an Android phone it would be the Nexus line, just because again the OS and hardware seem to be integrated tighter.

Car fails to prevent death due to poor design.

Don't crash it.

You're right. Putting scores side by side is certainly not the best way to compare--it's a guide at best. The best way is to try both devices and make a judgment for yourself. The problem, though, is that some people are unwilling to try the other, and make generalizations and presumptions.

Oh well.

For me, this could be a start of winning me back to Android.
I have owned 4s for month now and due to it's many short comings, I am looking back to droid again.

I believe I will hold for now, but when iPhone 5(next year, or whatever the next one comes out) comes out next year and it's another dud, I will not hesitate to go back to droid.(and I HATED droid X).

Is it possible that apple is being stagnant and sitting on it's past success? Never know. iPhone definitely has it's flaw and weakness(so does everyone else) which is glaring and getting bigger.

I used to think I will do iPhone 5 next year no matter what but not anymore.
Way to f up apple.. nice job!
