Yes, after apple dropped faux leather from their software, Samsung put it on their Galaxy Note 3 an introduced and Innovative™ new way to make the device look even more tacky than before. As if the cheap plastic wasn't enough, now they moulded it into a leather texture to disguise it. Complete with faux stitching.

Seriously Samsung?

So plactic is cheap? Or just until Apple relases a new plastic iPhone today then plastic is cool?

No, only Samsung plastic. Nokia, Moto, HTC, and even Sony do fine work with plastic that doesn't feel cheap, and I'm sure Apple's won't either.

I actually agree, even though I'm a huge fan of my Note 2 and will be getting the Note 3. There certainly are different qualities of plastic, and Samsung hasn't been going with the good kind. A phone like the HTC One X, or indeed the old iPhone 3G, feels ten times more realible and premium than my note 2. As I'm sure the 5C will too.

The good thing though is that a thin case quickly solves that problem as there's nothing wrong with the front of these latest Samsung phones, and the Note 3 will still be worlds more interesting than anything Apple will show today. :)

I don't think Samsung wants users breaking back covers, which is why they made them flexible compared to harder plastics used on other phones. Plus most other phones nowadays have non removable backs. I really don't understand what the big deal is. Just get a back case or a thrid party back cover that has a more solid feel to it.

the leather look i really like..think it is a far better design and look and should be a better feel.

Well you getting your discount erases that subsidy. As long as you have att that subsidy will always be there... Next plan or not.

i understand but for me financially i guess it i decided not to pay $35 more a month on my bill only to upgrade every 12 months.

It won't stop me from getting a Note 3 either, though I don't like to use cases so I'll be seeing and feeling that cheap plastic constantly. But at least that fake leather is marginally better than the hyper glaze.

i hate putting a case on this beautiful phone but it doesnt seem to safe without one.

Where did I even say that? The plastic for the 5c is cheap as well. What I'm criticising is the way samsung's design is not true to what it is. They are trying to make it look like something it is not.

At least apple have the decency to have an honest design, rather than make it look like something it's not. Samsung just seem so unprofessional.

Would much rather have a big screen with better insides than just having a nicer looking design but hey thats just me. The leather looks and feels good by most impressions. Removeable back is very important to alot of people than just having no extra storage space with abit of metal.

Does this look professional to you?

Just got to play with a Note 3 and handled the HTC one max.

All I have to say is WOW! Love the Note 3. It is really thin, and that screen!!
I loaded up a bunch of 1080p videos on youtube and WOW! One of my coworkers placed an order after playing with it.

The pleather is actually ok. It looks like plastic, I don't know, maybe it was because it was white, but I don't see how anyone could assume it was leather.

The HTC One Max is huge. Heavy and we thought it was aluminum, it's not. We opened up the back cover and it's all plastic. I don't know how they got it so heavy. Couldn't play with it much, the battery was dead. But it was a lot longer than the Note 3. It's probably due to the speakers being at the top and bottom.

The Note 3 in the battery settings had 40% left with a screen on time of 54% and it has been on for 6 hours. We had the brightness turned up. So the battery is good.

The camera was a little confusing at first, so many options. But took great pictures. We compared it to an iPhone 5 and it was better.

The s-pen took sometime getting used to, the button was a little high on it. But loved it.

Multi-tasking was crazy smooth as well. I loaded up youtube in a webpage then opened up the youtube app and had 2 videos in HD side by side. No stutter. Could resize each window and it was buttery smooth.

I would post pictures up, but I like my job and want to keep it.

How you managed to look at it already? can't wait to have one in my hands in two weeks.

All great to hear!

Cant wait for it to get here.

Did you mess with sound quality at all from the speakers on those videos you watched?

Would love to say and post pictures, but then I would have to go look for a new job.

We usually get lots of devices before they are released. I normally don't say anything because they never really interested me. The Note 3 does and I pre-ordered already. Getting to play with it last night just confirmed I made the right move.

The Note 3 really looks classy. The fake back is nice, but if it were real leather, that would be better.

All I can say is playing 1080p videos we had several people here just amazed at how nice it was.

The sound was ok, it was better than my galaxy Nexus that's for sure. Was a smart move moving it to the bottom. When I played the video I didn't mute it by just holding it like I do with my Nexus. My Lumia 920 is louder.

Did you get any notification of a ship date of 9/11-9/13?

Was curious as that is what i was advised by ATT when i got my order info.

i hope i am surprised by that early delivery.

Checked today to see the status and says "preparing to ship" with dates9/11-9/13 still.

Just giving an update as some have asked.

Holding pattern!

is it easy in the pocket?

what wallpapers does it come with?

I didn't check the wallpapers. The lock screen had like a palette of smeared paint. To unlock you swipe and it mixes/moves the paint and unlocks. Pretty cool.

My coworker tested the pocket-ability. He approves and ordered afterwards. He was on the fence and wanted to see what the 5S and maybe the Nexus 5 would bring, but after playing with it he pulled the trigger.

It fit my pockets fine. Not big at all to me. It didn't matter to me because that thing is like half the thickness of my Lumia 920.
There is a camera hump though.

We put it next to an iPhone 5 and it's barely thicker.

I also love the drawing of a window and opening an app in that window. No matter where you are at you can draw a square or rectangle and it opens up a menu with several apps like calculator, notes, browser etc. Then opens that app in the window.
It was really cool, we did the calculator like the Samsung promo video, but we also did a browser and it was cool surfing the web in a 1x2 window on top of the home page or a webpage.
I mean the things this thing can do is crazy.

Think it's the best phone of the year to me so far...looks amazing.

Im looking forward to getting this phone but having never owned any phone in the Note line and seeing the features, not sure I will use the S-Pen that much.

I dont take notes on my phone (ipad) and not sure how I will use it beyond that but interested to give it a whirl.

Im more interested in the bigger screen, battery life, and other features.

Mine says exactly the same thing, although I can't imagine these dates are true - probably just some system generated default. I'd be shocked if this phones arrives prior to Oct 1.

i have had the note 2 for a year and love it, but could care less about the s-pen. have used it once maybe? the first thing i did when i got the phone was flash cyanogenmod. i was sure i would get the note 3 once it was released but am getting drawn towards lg g2 now. will have to try them both in person to see if g2`s screen is big enough for me before i decide.
