Is the overall size of the HTC One Max huge compared with the Note3 or is the screen huge compared with the Note3? I've been holding out to see the HTC One Max before making up my mind about the Note 3.

Just got to play with a Note 3 and handled the HTC one max.

All I have to say is WOW! Love the Note 3. It is really thin, and that screen!!
I loaded up a bunch of 1080p videos on youtube and WOW! One of my coworkers placed an order after playing with it.

The pleather is actually ok. It looks like plastic, I don't know, maybe it was because it was white, but I don't see how anyone could assume it was leather.

The HTC One Max is huge. Heavy and we thought it was aluminum, it's not. We opened up the back cover and it's all plastic. I don't know how they got it so heavy. Couldn't play with it much, the battery was dead. But it was a lot longer than the Note 3. It's probably due to the speakers being at the top and bottom.

The Note 3 in the battery settings had 40% left with a screen on time of 54% and it has been on for 6 hours. We had the brightness turned up. So the battery is good.

The camera was a little confusing at first, so many options. But took great pictures. We compared it to an iPhone 5 and it was better.

The s-pen took sometime getting used to, the button was a little high on it. But loved it.

Multi-tasking was crazy smooth as well. I loaded up youtube in a webpage then opened up the youtube app and had 2 videos in HD side by side. No stutter. Could resize each window and it was buttery smooth.

I would post pictures up, but I like my job and want to keep it.

Huge compared to the Note. It's really thick and long. The screen looked longer. The width was about the same.

It was heavy. I was surprised. There is a little switch on the side that pops the back open.. When I opened it, it was all plastic. I don't know where the heft comes from, the frame maybe?

Didn't get to play with it or look at the screen much. It was at 1% battery and everything was dimmed and when I tried to take a quick picture, it disabled the flash because of the low battery.

I wasn't that impressed with it just holding it. It reminded me of my HTC Flyer. I don't know if thats good or not, but I still have the flyer.

Was there anything under the camera on the One Max on the back of the phone? Rumor had it to be a fingerprint sensor or some other feature.

Come to think of it there is a square gray pad on the back. I was pressing on it thinking it was a button but it didn't do anything. Maybe that is what it was??

I'lll see if I can grab it later tonight and investigate further, if it's still here.

interesting so side by side it was bigger than the note 3 screen wise?

damnit, reading weespeed's post makes me want to pre-order the N3...but part of me think the cost will come down soon after launch...can anyone confirm if this was the case with the N2 launch?

Pretty sure the cost stayed relatively the same for 4-6 months after launch. MY pre-order for Sprint hasn't even been announced!

Need to figure out if the LTE will be Tri-Band for Sprint before ordering any ways though.. :)

Neo Hybrid case...my wife has the S4 version and I think its really nice, will have to decide between this or the Seidio surface...

Nicest case Ive seen so far but maybe the only one Ive seen so far minus the Sview and Scover.

Not sure how Id like the S view considering how often I use my phone throughout the day for email.

Also worried about protection as I have dropped my S3 numerous times.

shipping almost 3 weeks prior to official launch date seems too good to be true...

It sure does but I am holding out hope and being optimistic. :D

I hate Verizon.

Went in to do a pre-order. The sales guy said I have to buy the bundle, the Note 3 by itself is not for pre-order. I was like what?!

Pulled up the web page and said I can order it here on your site.
He goes to his computer does some things then says, "Oh it is available now.". Damn liar.

So go through the motions, then he says, "All sold out, sorry only bundle is available.".
I tell him to hold on and order it in front of him from my Windows Phone.
Then tell him he can take the Gear and eat it and hope he chokes. Then walked out.

I swear bunch of crooks and liars..

A similar thing happened when I went in to get an S4 on launch day. I wanted to pay a little more each month and get a 12 month contract over a 24 month one. This EE store has the most unhelpful staff ever. They flat out told me "We don't do 1 year contracts, we never have. Only 2 year ones".

I pulled up the EE Website page for the S4, showing him the options for S4 Tarrifs were divided into "1 Year" and "2 Year". He looks at me and tells me he doesn't know why the Website says that, but he'll "try and sort something out".

He then disappears through the back door into the office for 10 minutes, comes out and says "I've pulled some strings and let you go onto a 1 year contract". At this point I can't even be bothered to argue anymore, after racking up some details etc, he tries to bully me into Phone insurance, I flat out refused 4-5 times while he tries to push for it, after I said "No" when he'd explained what the insurance covered for the 5th time, he flat out asks "Why?"

I explained to him I already receive Phone Insurance through my bank, and its good enough for me, he then starts ridiculing the insurance plan I'm already on, and starts going on about how this insurance will be superior, I point out every assumption he made about my insurance was wrong, he gives up explaining and then flat out keeps repeating "Yea well ours is better". At that point I stood up and said "You've put me completely off buying now, I don't feel welcome at all, you're very rude" and walked out the store, went to an EE store in a different town and got one there chatted and laughed with the salesman there, (we were the same age) and walked out happy.

Is there any legit reason I shouldn't get this coming from an iPhone 4S? I was a bit underwhelmed with the 5S announcement. It has great features and love the 64bit...but I'm not sure I want to 'waste' my upgrade on something that isn't MASSIVELY better.

I switched from the Samsung Vibrant to the 4S because the apps were terrible and Samsung just stopped updating past 2.3. So I wonder it it's worth it to get the Note 3. Anyone who got the other Notes and regret it?

Well you getting your discount erases that subsidy. As long as you have att that subsidy will always be there... Next plan or not.

What do you mean by this?

I'm in the exact same boat as you, but came from an HTC Evo to a 4S. I have only heard raving reviews of the Note 2... might be beneficial for us to try and dig out the negative reviews.

Edit - I have seen negatives on Samsung's Touchwiz.. but that seems to be every Samsung device and seems easy enough to install another launcher or root the device.

The discount basically makes it so you are paying a normal monthly bill. Then if you do the next plan you will only pay one subsidy. People who do not get a discount are already paying through the roof and get charged the next plan subsidy to. Right now I pay $76 a month after taxes for unlimited talk (basically 5000 rollover) , text, and Web. That is pretty good b.c of a discount. If I didn't have the discount I would pay $100 which is just crazy

As long as you can handle a 5.7 inch yes..

Mine is 25% discount, 2 lines, unlimited everything through ATT and our bill is $130 a month.

When I say everything, I mean the stuff we care about like texts and data. We dont use the actual phone that much.

With the Next plan it adds the $35 a month for the plan which equals $700 after the 20 months to own it or $420 after 12 months to upgrade to the iPhone 6 or Note 4 or whatever is out at that time.

So basically $120 extra over the $300/2 year contract price and not being able to upgrade.

For me, I change phones a lot and consider it worth it. The Note 3 is $700 off contract.

Really depends if you think its worth it and will use that upgrade in 12 months or not.

This made me lol so hard.

Well, I think I can handle up to 7 inches. I might be able to go larger. ;) I have big hands.

Do you have the share plan? I have the 10 Gig one....

I think I'm the only one in the entire world that appreciate's touchwiz. That's why I got the Vibrant in the first place....and I dislike my Vibrant rooted.

Exactly. With a solid discount it's a good plan. If you do not get a discount you are better going to another carrier or prepaid and buy phones outright.

This might be slightly off topic, but don't you think that getting a tablet with the Next plan is a good idea? Especially an iPad since they are subsidized anywho...

I didn't even know you could do that. I think it is a good idea. If you know you will always upgrade after a year it makes sense. You basically are leasing a phone and it is cheaper than upgrading out of pocket every 12 months. Again though, only if you get a discount with att otherwise you are paying a high monthly plan plus another subsidy.

No I do not have the share plan.

I also made a typo, sorry.

I have the unlimited plan as I was grandfathered in. My wife has the 2GB plan or whatever is $30 a month.

And I totally understand why ATT Next was getting based but when breaking down the price, factoring in discounts, and evaluating how often I upgrade vs. not wanting to, it made sense for me.

I know. Most people don't get that everybody's situation is different. You are incredibly lucky.

That's why I think some people should attack others for go with certain plans/phones because it's a free market and everyone's situation is different.

I think the plan is fine if you JUST want a new phone and don't want to open a contracted line (which I was considering before in the 'old' days).Buy now, pay later.

Couldn't find the HTC, but did find the Note 3 in black. I must say the black looks good, I think better than the white. The black back panel can be mistaken as pleather.
