Dont worry.Apple doesnt think its exploding which is why they are using that very same OLED tech from the Note 7
1080 is a desired count of lines, which affects how tall you must make the display, depending on its PPI.
But the flat screen display's PPI doesn't change even if you cover most of the screen with a cloth. It's a fixed value.

PPI is pixels per inch. That is a physical manufacturing value which does not change. It is always the same, no matter how much of the display is visible, or how large or small it is.
E.g. a 300 PPI display is always 300 PPI, whether it's 1 inch across or it's 100 inches across, or 1 row high or 1000 rows high. All that changes is the total number of columns or rows. The PPI is a constant.
(We are not talking about projectors here. We're talking about smartphone displays.)
