Oled has greater life expectancy than 5-10 years because no one has it on 24 hours a day (for the record, life expectancy is measured in hours). Also, the rated hours is not a brick wall but generally a point where degradation occurs.I don't doubt there are people who keep their phones for a long time. I just don't think it's an amount that would be affected much by a 5-10 year lifespan of OLED screens.
Many others disagree that Apple basically waits until the cows have left the barn to incorporate new technology. That is the antithesis of innovative.
You couldn't be more wrong with the bolded; look up Peter Drucker for some "edumacation". A company exists to provide a service, those who do it well, end up like apple, those who don't end up like Blackberry.
Until CEO TC screws up, if he does, it seems this is course apple has charted.
From being savvy results are gained; i.e. Blackberry vs Apple.I'd say it's more like Apple keeps selling the cows milk until the cows are old and grey, then they get a new cow only because the old cows died. But people still line up for the old, watery milk.

Lol, a company exists to make money. Whether they provide a service, sell an item, whatever, they are not doing it for free. This desire to make more and more money is what is driving the startling skyrocketing of corporations at the expense of workers. Why else would Apple (and other companies, not just Apple) be ok with slave labor, outsourcing jobs way from the US, and hiding tax money? No they aren't altruistic in the least, it's $$$.
Please understand 1) I'm not saying Apple is alone in this, they aren't doing anything different or worse than anyone else and 2) What they are doing makes perfect sense in their obligation to their shareholders.
“Results are gained by exploiting opportunities, not by solving problems.” - Peter Drucker
I jumped ship long ago when I switched to the Note 2. I wanted a larger screen. My note still works great but the S7 edge with the water resistance, SD card slot, wireless charging, and a VR headset for free, is enough to get me to upgrade, I hear the screen is pretty good too! Apple makes very good phones but they have been playing catch up for a while now. As a business owner I envy their position. They were once light years ahead of everybody and very innovative. Today they put out a nice products but hardly innovative. Where everybody use to copy Apple now it goes more the other way. Fact is they can use yesterdays technology, because it's cheap and it still sells because of an almost cult like following (nobody here I'm sure) that will buy anything with an Apple logo.
Great to be Apple, but I doubt they can continue like this forever. I would have no problem going back to an iphone but, I'm not one of the people that buy just because of an Apple logo. Samsung pay is another reason I'm upgrading. In the U.S NFC (Apple-Android Pay) are very limited. Can't even remember the last NFC terminal I came across. Samsung pay works everyplace, it's just works! In America it's cool to hate 3D and Love Apple...Great to be Apple!
Okay well there are tons of big Android phones. Just because your original Samsung note got bad battery life, does not mean all got bad battery life.My original galaxy note had poor battery life. Samsung pay is very short sighted. Magnetic strip technology is outdated and we haven't used it in the UK for about a decade now. It's not used in Europe yet. Samsung pay will probably never gain traction world wide. It's only available in Korea, the US and maybe China.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's better than iPhone 6s plus lol. But people need to stop claiming facts based of experience off one phone.Maybe the first Galaxy Note iteration wasn't great but the 2012 Note II is awesome including battery life and is still better than a lot of newer phones like the iPhone 6S Plus. I'd like to see Apple make an equivalent iPhone Pro so I can use my Apple gift card.

In many iPhone users mind "I used a Moto g and it lagged! That means all Android lags" or "my Samsung note had bad battery life! That means all androids have bad battery life".
You realize you have been using one brand right? Samsung is not the only Android available on the market. It is unfortunate that you had bad battery life with multiple Samsung phones. I have had bad battery life too, my nexus 5 was pretty bad, my galaxy s3 was alright I guess. However Sony had been good go me as well as lg when it comes to battery life. Atleast pre lg g3 phones. The iPhone plus models has one of the best battery life on the market, no denying that. It seems late 2015 and 2016 phones are as good / better battery life now.I've used other android phones. The original galaxy note had poor battery life. The note 3, S4 and S5 were average. None of them come anywhere close to the iPhone 6/S plus. My point is when Apple finally decided to release a phablet it had sufficient battery life. Those I mentioned did not. I've never used the note 2 but I heard it had good battery life.
I've also used the LG G3 for about 5 days before I returned it. I've used the first and second generation nexus 7 tablets and and the asus memo pad 7. So a few android OEM's.You realize you have been using one brand right? Samsung is not the only Android available on the market. Point still remains, you can't generalize.
Yeah I said pre lg g3. The lg g3 had bad battery life. It also was the first phone to have a 2k screen.I've also used the LG G3 for about 5 days before I returned it. I've used the first and second generation nexus 7 tablets and and the asus memo pad 7. So a few android OEM's.

Samsung pay is great and I use it a lot. It's nice to be able to use it at the older terminals, which most places still have. They are limited in the banks they have though, thankfully they have BofA so it works for me, but they don't have my other business banks yet.
The note 5 is slimed down but the previous notes were bulky and somewhat unwieldy. However I care more about screen size soThe 6/6S Plus is huge though. The Note feels like a partial piece of toast next to your head whereas the 6/6S Plus feels like a pizza slice. And, the 6/6S Plus sacrifices connected background multitasking in favor of longer battery life which is a show stopper for power users.
With the bolded? Really? With Drucker profit is not king; but with the statement I quoted, an "edumaction" may be in order. Sorry, I'm only basing my response on your post, where "profit is king".
The remainder of this post is meaningless after the bolded.I really don't know how to respond to you bolding random parts of my posts and saying that Drucker doesn't agree with me as if it's the be all and end all when Mendelow is far more relevant. Apple has core of good little fanboys that will buy any old s**t and defend it to the hilt because they're too invested, while the power resides in the masses that have been satisfied by the slick products doing basic things well. Apple is getting complacent and trying to give people the bare minimum to keep people satisfied, whilst the competition is gunning for that demographic.
When it comes to a 'good' service, there comes a time when 'good enough' isn't good enough. Nokia found it out, Blackberry found it out, and Apple are responding to fast paced competition with 3D Touch. It's clear the product is being milked because mobile phones are fast becoming commoditized, and at some point in the future it will become very difficult to justify the premium that Apple commands because consumers will realize that the functionality and design across many OEMs has reached some degree of parity.

Even though what you say is completely true, Apple can get away with it. Maybe not forever, I don't know, but they do improve their products just enough to have some semblance of keeping up. Amazing company in how they can sell some of what they sell and people just line up in droves and droves to buy it. After a certain point logic doesn't play a part in the debate anymore when you weigh in brand loyalty.
The note 5 is slimed down but the previous notes were bulky and somewhat unwieldy. However I care more about screen size so
I'll use a device even if it's cumbersome to handle.
Yes, I' ll probably do that then. Thanks for your advice....Iphone has excellent battery life. It should because the screen resolution is so poor compared to most modern phones. If you want great battery life, use it. If you want excellent battery life and wonderful screen resolution, pick a modern android phone.
Modern android phones do not have excellent battery lives. Some of the phablets like the note 5 have fairly ok battery life but none are as good as the iPhone 6 Plus. Also I wouldn't call 1080p poor. It's fine enough. Most people are still using 1080p TVs. 720p on the 6S is Rubbish though. However maybe on such a small phone it doesn't matter. I don't know the 6S just doesn't appeal to me for several reasons (too small, poor battery life, not 1080p, no OIS).Iphone has excellent battery life. I agree with most of what you've said however don't you think that by 2018 android would have moved forward? They are not going to stand still and wait for Apple to 'catch up'. Anyhow having said that for all of androids technical superiority I'd still pick an iPhone any day of the week. There are too many compromises with android devices and a few impressive specs on a sheet of paper won't compensate for all the flaws.Yes, I' ll probably do that then. Thanks for your advice....
Android is so much better than iOS.
You can physically connect cables and put files from your pc to your phone, you can download any file on there, you don' t need a specialized App Store , you can connect to obscure app stores from China. The fbi doesn' t need a warrant to get to your information. You can install " clean" android as long as you use custom toms, boot loaders, etc.
updates are great! You never have to do that, because after a year, you can' t get
one for your new mobile anymore. And if there are updates , you should wait for your provider.
You have tons of settings to choose from, it is so easy... And you can install a virus scanner! Great!
Running to the store now! Lol
But seriously: in 2 years, all hardware and paper spec differences between iPhones and high end androids are gone.
Apple already has a superior SOC, and keeps advancing. They are now working on camera tech(dual lens) that will close the gap and improves over the current android top cameras. The next iPhone will be waterproof. So it is all about screen tech and display res. In the iPhone 7 they will up resolution and better the display(anyone see display mate' s review of mini 4 screen? and tech demo' s of in cell display 2.0 ?). And in 2018 they Will shift to micro led/oled.And Apple is rumored to work on real wireless charging for 2017.
So what is left for high end Android then?
4K display? Without sacrificing smoothness and battery life, while no one can see the difference with 2K? Even bigger batteries ?
12 core socs with 8gb, to drive 4K?
