Jesus, here we go with the "stealing is wrong" "i test before I buy" arguments.

Stick to the point: YES stolen games will prob fail to connect to game center.

The question WAS NOT "are jb games wrong"

How dare you stick to the subject at hand! Your logic has no place here.

Your definition of theft is ignorantly limited..

if i stole an iphone from you, and you magically still had it, did i steal anything?

no, i magically duplicated it! its magic! i did not harm your property or take it; therefore, no theft occurred.

same thing with songs, or ANY digital media... it may not be nice to not pay for something, but it is far from the same thing as stealing a CD out of a store.... somebody paid for that and they cant get it back.

Like I said very limited definition. Not even Webster's is that limited. The legal definition is luckily much broader..

Im sure the Cracked Game Police here have paid for every song on their ipod and have never downloaded anything that wasnt fully paid for.

+1

Or even grabbing songs or the entire album from someone who had the cd.

It's too easy too preach but it's very difficult to practice what you preach strictly 100%. My .02...

at least i took out the "ignorantly"

... but regarding the topic, if you want full features... looks like you're gonna have to pay for them. thats the reality.

Well I hope your not as ignorant on the subject now because ignorance of the law doesn't make for a good defense.

I like how people are screaming about this but illegal tethering is perfectly fine.

Oh lets not go there. They can't steal something they pay the right to use however they want even though they signed an agreement saying exactly how they can and can't use it..

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. If ATT is offering a service for fee, and you use that service without paying for it, thats stealing. Your sense of entitlement is pathetic.

BTW, I tether for free but I don't delude myself into thinking It's owed to me because I have a data plan.

This was well put.
There's bending the law and there's breaking the law. Only one of them is illegal...

I completely agree, not to be rude, but I hate people who are hypocrites, they say that download cracked games are wrong, but I can safely assuming that almost everyone here has downloaded a song or video that they did not pay for, what about finding information for a school report, did you do citations? If not, thats plagiarizing, same concept of stealing!

It isn't jb games, games from the Cydia store and different and legit. I'm jailbroken and 100% of my apps are purchased (iTunes store and Cydia).

Please move this piracy nonsense off of my macrumors, and please don't confuse it with my right to customize and use my phone hardware however i want.

At the same time the people who try an act as if there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. Hey if you want to steal......that is fine but don't act like there is nothing wrong with what you are doing.

to be honest i just tested this out way back

tilt to live, my fav game and i paid for.

i downloaded a jailbroken version just to see, you can connect online and update your score REGARDLESS paid or not. the onilne account is different from the itunes application account

jailbroken games cannot be updated but they can still be used online and multiplayer (between bluetooth)

again i tried with flick fishing, between paid apps, a paid and a jailbroken one, and two jail broken ones. all work fine so far

gamecenter i dont know much about, but if its tied to itunes account it should recognize if the game is fake or not. if its not tied to itunes account then its just a gaming social thing like Open feint or crystal and what not.

regards to morality or not, if you can afford it pay for it. thing with itunes is it only works for 1st world countries, 3rd world countries dont have a local itunes thing, so everything is in $$ and cost absurdly more

theres more to it than just buy buy buy.

As I said, I am not "holier than thou," nor am I some kind of piracy cop.

If someone asks me how to use pirated software, I'll answer their questions.

As for the music on my iPod, no, it isn't all legal, and I never said otherwise.

I simply stated that I made a personal decision to support the developers.

The music labels can go suck it for all I'm concerned.

lol whats the difference? its funny when people try to justify what theyre doing is ok even though though its the exact same thing.

The funny thing about your comment is that I don't see people here bragging about the stuff they're downloading for free. However, I frequently see people condemning others (e.g. see the immediate responses after the OP's post) when they're prolly no angels themselves. Just can't stand hypocrites and to see the same people pouncing on people when they mention about using cracked apps or installous.

I'm no angel but you definitely won't see me casting stones at others.

There is no difference. Show me where I said there is.

Also, show me where I've condemned others for privacy.

I'll bet you can't...

So I guess in YOUR Perfect world, everyone would be playing really awesome casual portable games with really, really crappy music?

I buy the majority of my music. But if I happen to borrow a CD from a friend, I sometimes rip it.

Great artists will produce great music.

I'm a musician myself, and if I was any good at it, I'd be doing it for a living.

If someone were to pirate my music, I would accept that as part of the package deal.

I would feel the same way if I were a software developer.

I've been buying most of my music from iTunes these days, but the sad thing is that the artist will see very little of that.

Software developers get a 70% cut. It hurts them more if I don't pay for their stuff.

I'm not trying to justify anything. Theft is theft, I get that.

I'm just being honest.
