I cannot get past the birthday screen. It asks me for my birthyear, I put it in and it won't go any further.

HELP!

Read the screen.

It says "The Email address specified already exists for this person" on the screen.

If you already have an iTunes account, you use that, you do not have to make a new account.

In before the people who don't get what Game Center is. It's primarily an API for devs to have standardized achievements/leaderboards and multiplayer functionality in their games.

All the Game Center app does is aggregate that info from all the different games on your iPhone/iPod touch in one place. The GC app itself is NOT the big deal.

Would be actually useful and awesome if also the save data would be transferred to gc, so if you delete a game you still have all your savegames.

Big Bad Sudoku Book

We're working on game center support but it will probably be a few days before the update is approved by apple.

Not sure if you were an Apple hater.

Because he posts a negative comment about something in iOS, you have suspicions he's an all out "Apple hater".

Guys, stop seeing the world as black or white. You can like Apple products without liking 100% of everything Apple. Shades of grey.

Game Center

Come on apple - you just added a ugly game center on front page of my iPhone - i cant remove it. First Ping not this waist!

:(

The app itself may not be too pretty, but the concept is awesome. With a little tweaking, this will be great..

I dearly hope Apple adds some form of messaging or commenting.

A friend could drop you a message asking for a session tomorrow at 9pm, and you could click the time/date to add a Calendar reminder.

That's why somewhere in the 70s, something called e-mail was invented.

Apple needs to revamp the OS so I can get rid of all the unnecessary default application clutter. I have absolutely no use for the iTunes store, Stocks, Game Center, Compass, Voice Memos, or YouTube.

What surprised me is that Game Center installed itself not in the first empty space like most apps, but instead forced itself onto my main screen, displacing the apps I had there. :/

I got all excited for this GameCentre last night, eagerly installed and realised I had no friends and no games!:(

It led me to look at other game-networks, +Plus for Godfinger etc and the biggest OpenFient seem to be well made and on a lot of games.

What incentive do app-devs have now to switch? OF seem to be well placed and offer a good cross-user experience?

Thank being said - Add me! AmTechFox

:D

=)

I'm excited about this. Time to pwn some noobs. Add me as friend on gamecenter: ricosuave.

Only here can we get excuses for not being able to communicate with the people you plan on playing games with (especially the ones you don't know, say like the folks here).

Bottom line is Game Center (Game Kit) needs a messaging interface built in. At this point it feels like Game Center is even worse than PSN was when it launched. Maybe Apple should make it mandatory (like XBL) and require a minimum feature set usage (say achievements, cross game invites, and in game messaging like XBL).

Wait, how does e-mail not make you able to communicate with people you plan on playing games with ?

YAMI (Yet Another Messaging Interface). Seriously. Consolidated messaging, in the form of god damn E-mail, has been around for decades. 1 e-mail address, all messages in the same inbox, 1 app to check.

Am I really the only one here that's getting tired of all the messaging clients I need to have up and running in case someone needs to send me something ?

What exactly do you think is wrong with e-mail to do what the guy proposes ?

It's slightly off-topic at the moment, but iOS needs a proper implementation of Risk. That is one of the best games of all times. If some developers could make Monopoly enjoyable on the Mac and on iOS; surely, another successful board game with a fantastic computer version (my favourite in 2000) deserves a better iVersion.

I agree. Risk is by far my favourite board game and I would by it for iPhone if it was made in a proper way.

The problem with email is I need to know his email address. Game Center doesn't provide an email address. So if the person I want to chat with didn't give me their email, I have no way of communicating with them.
Game Center itself would then need to give out peoples email addresses. Which it currently doesn't.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you used these "social networks" to interact with people you didn't know. Carry on then.

(Personally, I don't add "friends" that aren't actually friends. And I have an e-mail contact for all my friends).

Oh, my real friends get a hold of me via email. But even on systems like PSN and XBL I may play games with ppl I don't know. Sometimes I add them to my friends list to be able to play those games with again. At some point I will probably purge my friends list and just keep the ppl I know, but it is kinda fun seeing what others are playing (even if I don't know them).

I am not the dev—just passing the info:

Fun and FREE casual game—it's name says it all. A tilting game. There are ads (written in japonese) but only in the local leaderboards ("Ranking") and NOT in Game Center and not in the playing field of course.

http://itunes.apple.com/app/keep-the-ball/id386758541?mt=8

Who of the MR members beats Habakuk on HARD (world rank #4 with 111,78 seconds for now)?

The difficulty is well balanced although for me personally "Easy" is… well, a bit too easy so I let it go deliberately at 500 seconds (all time world rank #11 for now). But normal and hard are pretty good challenges. Try it!

Game Center works rock solid and fast so far. Just "Last Games Played" doesn't work here.

I wonder if the guy who played the perfect game for ms pacman back in the 80's, will log on and school everyone.

Game Center

Hi Guys

First of all, apologies for putting my website address in my post yesterday!

Secondly, i feel Game Center has the potential to be huge, and with ongoing development it could eclipse any similar social gaming by far. If this can be develped to a point where Apple is in 'the living room' it could spell the end of Playstation or Xbox??

What do you think?

I don't think it is going to eclipse XBL. PSN hasn't even managed to do that yet. If there is only one thing MS is good at it is the online community aspect of XBL. Somehow they have managed to get it right (if you discount the fee).

Please Apple...let us decide!

I agree with this poster. iPhone memory is too expensive to have to clutter it up with anything a user considers unnecessary. It's our device and as long as it does not pose some kind of security issue, we should be allowed to remove what we wish!

Thanks Apple for shoving another application down my throat.

The Game Center app that just appeared on my iPhone set a record for going into the 'junk apps that I can't delete' folder.
