I don't mind the occasional nipple, but I thought Game of Thrones in season 2 went a little overboard. I don't think there is a single actress we haven't seen shed her clothes as if Winter isn't coming.

For anyone who has read the books, is this really what happens?

Thoughts, concerns, opinions?

There is a lot of sex in the books (well, the first three anyway. I hated the first half of the fourth and gave up) but it wasn't all that detailed. More than half of it is just a quick mention that the characters are having sex or that sex has taken place. Several times in the TV series HBO has taken a few of these brief mentions and done things like create a five+ minute long lesbian scene :p.

So in my opinion they've been very liberal with the sex. Anyway, to answer your question, yes all of this happens but HBO makes it a much bigger part of the story than it was in the books.

Great books, and a great show. I'm not complaining with the nudity in the show :D

Nudity & sex are nothing to be embarrassed about. Nudity & sex ONLY become something dirty and disgusting when you think of it as such! Keep and open mind. Sex is a fact of life. From "The Dark Ages right up to today".

It's HBO - they can do whatever they want. Is it even rated R? Shows don't follow movie ratings. I would suspect the DVDs are NR if anything.

Wait, is someone complaining about tits and ass ?

The books are quite graphics in both their violence and sex. A good read for sure.

Why are we so concerned with nudity? We're born into this world naked, it's the natural way of being for all the other animals. We're so obsessed with demonising sex and nudity. They're not bad things. They're natural.

I honestly really want to watch Game of Thrones but thats pretty much the only reason I haven't.

I hear its basically ******* mixed with Lord of The Rings. I know sex is just sex but watching people do it is always very awkward to me. Not to mention HBO loves to turn every sex scene into a miniature porn. The only thing missing is finishing on the face.

If you're denying yourself a great show because you're afraid of a little bit of sex, you're 1) missing out on a great show, and 2) going to have trouble when your significant other ;)

Seriously. In some cases, the absurdity of how graphic the sex scenes were only made the show funnier.

Hum... you haven't seen much porn in your life if you think a few seconds of full frontal for women is porn. There's a lot missing before it's actual porn, you don't really need anything during the sex scenes besides some bush and nipples.

Really guys, what's to complain about and what's awkward about it ?

So watching porn is awkward yet you are well versed in the money shot. OoooooooooK.

How old are you if you find sex scenes very awkward?

God forbid what would happen to you if you went to a zoo and saw some animals at it.

Sex doesn't bother me. It's perfectly natural and i've actually done it.

Its when movies and TV shows turn it into porn is when its awkward. It's awkward because its not real and horribly overexaggerated. The lesbian scene in Episode 7 I believe was totally uneeded. And if I recall from reading the book, the girl in Game of Thrones who was with that Viking Guy or whatever, is actually supposed to be only 12 years old.

I feel the same way when shows cuss. Like Spartacus when they drop the F word every 3 seconds. I swear like a sailor but im pretty sure the ancient romans didn't even know what the F word was at the time. I could be wrong but it totally breaks the immersion for me. Its the same way when movies about ancient history speak perfect english. Gladiator is a fantasic film and one of my favorites, but it really annoys me how everybody speaks perfect english.

But anyway, I don't have to explain my beliefs to a bunch of keyboard warriors

How about violence? Is the graphic violence not more of an issue than some sex?

I've had my share of sex with women, but I've never torn out someones throat with my bare hands.

I've done a bit of spanking, but I've never felt poured molten gold over someones head.

I'll admit to not having had lesbian sex before, but thats more to do with lacking the equipment, I've never felt the need to torture someone with a rat and a hot bucket.

I've had sex with men, but I've never felt the need to take a sword and cut someone's head off or beat someone with a metal pole.

I have always felt that the American attitude to sex as a "dirty" thing, whilst celebrating violence is unhealthy…

This is America son...a flash of a nipple on a TV network causes Congress to open an investigation, while at the same time killing thousands of civilians in a country over 6000 miles away...nobody bats a lash.

Proposition: Who is the more severe, Congress or the Spanish Inquisition?

Discuss.

If it's too R-rated for you then just don't watch it. I don't particularly like super violent movies/tv shows but I don't oppose them being available for those who enjoy them.

Thank you for being reasonable. Reminds me of George Carlin's groundbreaking concept of "if you don't like something, change the station!"

I never said I didn't like it. Just that between getting more of the stuff that I like about Game of Thrones and more nipple, I'd rather get more of the stuff that I like (violence/story!). Then again, the show is so good that I don't mind most of the time. And I do admit, every time a cute new princess/priestess/queen shows up I can't help but wonder...:D

Well you got it last night.

If you think that there is too much tit and ass in GoT, you would blow a gasket, if you watched our TV in the Netherlands.:D
