I have just 1 question. How does it feel to spend 3 grand on a laptop only to get a laptop with a midrange graphics card that won't even play games at native resolution very well? Especially if your just going to throw bootcamp on it to play games.

You know for $1200 you could have gotten yourself a much better gaming laptop like the g75vw.

Well princess, It feels good.

I am all for embracing the new tech.

Obviously, that computer is not able to run OSX natively. Nor does it have the display for WORK and then games. Lets also not forget about the build and weight difference.

If I were to purchase another PC, it would be a Sony Vaio Z. (Same Price)

So whats the point of your post?

I like to spend money on bleeding edge tech.

Seems like you enjoy spending money on trolling the internet and purchasing average build PC products.

You need to get going now. Don't be late for little leauge Jr.

How hot is the enclosure during normal usage, not during intense games? Does the casing remain cool on your lap? My old 2007 MBP gets very hot which is fine under load, but for normal tasks it is annoying.

I would say about 20-30% cooler than 2011

Some users are complaining about how laggy this thing is...

Are they bsing or is it laggy?

I installed the updates and it seems to have cleared up my noticed issues.

You know what, you're right.

And to top that off, you could build a full size tower PC with similar or better performance for much less. Just glue on some caster wheels and a 50lb UPS and you've got a true ultraportable powerhouse.

;)

As far as gaming, I too am curious how well Diablo 3 runs on it? Only game I play on my Mac. Can everything be maxed out and still be playable?

Diablo, Diablo .. DIABLO!

Alright already, I will purchase that game for everyone here. I purchased SC2 for the same reasons thinking I would eventually play it. Never did...

Steam the best place people?

The game better be good :/

Gotta say this...

The viewing angles are stupid good! (Astonishingly)

Not that many years ago, many Mac buyers didn't mind that Apple computers weren't for games. Fast forward to the present, and one finds quite a number of users priorities involve games. Sadly, Apple doesn't make any effort whatsoever to at least enhance their gaming ability.

There's a very high level of determination on Apples part to demonstrate how it's going to be. They purposely ignore customers just to show who's in charge. It's as though the arrogant ghost of Jobs still rules.

If anyone uses windows magnet, two webpages side by side works great scaled. Still crisp as can be.

Sorry, I thought you mentioned you had it already haha. You might have to get the digital from Blizzard's site, or just buy a physical copy in stores. $60 regardless where you buy it though.

It feels kind of how it feels to spent 15k on a watch when you could have bought a timex.....so so good. Enjoy your g75vw and let everyone who wants to spend their money do it.

Fan noise: under heavy load (when the fans spool up) how is the noise level compared to the previous models?

How does it feel to spend 1200$ on a 8lb laptop made ouf cheap plastic that won't last even 3 hours with all power saving options on? Does it upset you that a laptop not made for gamers has a better display than gaming laptops? Not to mention the resale value of a MacBook compared to a plastic brick you are referring to?
Not everyone buys a laptop for the sole purpose of gaming but it just happens to be an added bonus with a card such as the gt 650m.

Diablo

OP, if you haven't purchased a copy of Diablo yet PM me and I will send you a free trial I have that they gave me with my copy.

This ^.

Let's not peer pressure the OP into buying a game solely for our curiosity. Get the trial and show us how it runs. If you like the game, buy it. :p

Please play Starcraft 2 and BF3, also see if you can get a demo of the new Dirt racing game. They should be enough to give me an idea of how it performs, also Diablo 3..

And please mention what resolutions the games offer you to select, and if on 1440x900 can you post the game FPS scores? And if they look good or not?

I would appreciate that. Please send it via PM as I am having trouble getting it to go through on my end.

Thanks!

Other than the fact of having an immensely reliable machine for years to come, I'm expecting my 15" ret pro 2.3 i7 & 16gb ram to rape WoW....

Can't wait... Windows to Mac convert at its finest.

Although you know that if they put the 680M in there, it would fry the damn thing. Is the 650M that terrible?

I don't even think there's a desktop GPU out there that can "rape" WoW. Playing that at retina res when the particle effects start flying...that's gonna be painful :S

Biggest question for me is the glare -- how's it compare to matte or glossy screens from previous generations?

I know this is almost blasphemous given you just bought a laptop with a beautiful display, but how is gaming on an external monitor and/or TV?

I'm confident it will run smooth enough for me...

I'm upgrading for a dell xps, core 2 duo, 2gb ram, crap gfx... Dying hard drive lol

It'll b fast to my eyes!

Not really responsive. I have a last-year's-model gaming laptop (G53) which, so far as I can tell, is still noticably faster for gaming than any laptop Apple ships, and while it's heavier, it's not heavy enough to care about -- it's still in the "just toss it in a bag and go" weight range. Comparing "a heavier laptop" to "a 50 pound UPS and a full tower" is not meaningful. The 15" gaming laptops really are in basically the same product category as the Mac, and it is a shame that Apple isn't willing to try to compete in that category.

Even though the 650 sounds like it won't be much worse than a GTX660, it is. Its a lot less powerful. Combine that with running at retina resolution and your going to have to turn graphics settings to low in order to play any modern game at 30fps or higher.

I just find it funny how many people get so defensive over an Apple product. I myself really enjoy my macbook air, Imac and iPhone but I couldn't see spending 3 grand on a mediocre laptop. OMG its got an aluminum case and I use it for work, yet the first thing I do when I get home is see how it can game and then tell other people about gaming on it.

Yep it is sad that Apple isn't willing to compete. They could easily toss a high end video card in and redesign the computer for optimal cooling but instead they put in mid level parts and charge a premium to people because fans will buy regardless.
