This guy has argued with everyone in this thread. He just assumes everyone is a damn scumbag and would sell a phone and quit paying installments. You can sell a phone with remaining installments period. End of story. You either keep paying installments like a responsible adult or don't and then the phone will be blacklisted and you WILL owe for the device. Stop acting like you will get arrested for selling a damn phone with installments left. The phone will be perfectly fine and work as long as payments are still made. Just because Swappa and Ebay doesnt allow it, doesnt mean you cant. Obivously Gamestop and Craigslist, etc does accept it. So no need to act like the phone police.

And a $20,000 car with a bank loan is completely different than a $800 phone with a wireless agreement. Terrible comparision.

And that is how people get screwed. No sir, a bank loan for a car is no different than a loan for your phone. Your phone is financed through AT&T and your car through the bank. You default on either, it goes bad on your credit. At least with cars they can get them back in most cases, but with phones, they blacklist them.

Anyone can search out there and see that I am correct. Like I said, prove me wrong by showing a place that says its OKAY to sell a phone with installments on it.

Well this has gotten exciting!

These phones in question were part of the trade in 6\6+ For att where you’d get a free 7 that would be free after 24x monthly bill credits. So I get a bill credit every month, the lines aren’t going anywhere that’s why I paid full retail this time around because I still come ahead.

But for all you know it alls who say I’m responsible to pay the remaining $.. what you say must be true because you read it online.

Thanks OP! Just sold my AT&T iPhone 7 Plus 128gb for $450 after joining the Elie Club. Very quick and painless and walked out with cash. Make sure you bring the SIM card because they need that to test. They give it back to you, obviously. Great experience and way better then dealing with CL or Ebsy and way better offer than Gazelle. iPhone X feels justified now....haha. JK.

did you join in store or online before going? Rather not drop the $30 until sure my local store will confirm the $480 deal

Also why would they need the old SIM to test anything (their site even says take out the SIM) It's not active after upgrading.

Does GameStop give cash or store credit? I’d imagine spending $450 on games may not be so appealing to many

I traded in my S8 last week at GameStop and I was given $455 in cash. That’s the most that they offer for Elite members. They don’t really check the phone, just plug it in and that’s it. Took about ten minutes all in all.

You can join in store. In fact I was given the Elite membership for free while doing the trade in.

Well technically you bought the Elite out of your trade in money the way I understand it.

Or without paying $30 they gave you the elite price of $455?

How picky are they about how the device looks?

I have a Jet Black 7+. The screen is great - some light hairline scratches, but damn near perfect when it's on. But... it's Jet Black - there's some knicks on the corners of the actual device/housing, and well, the back is just straight up scratched to hell. It's a Jet Black phone that's never been in a case.

Functionally, it's 100% fine.

I thought it was 30 for elite pro? I’m debating using this service. How many phones can you trade in at one time?

It is $30 but for whatever reason I didn’t have to pay for it.

Interesting! Might have to run by GameStop tomorrow... extra $100 over amazon trade in I thought I was going to use.

I just said Gamestop and anywhere local on Craigslist if you would read. Have you realised everything you said is based on ASSUMING people will stop paying their installments after selling a phone? Let me make it easy for you to understand. YOU CAN SELL A PHONE AND IT WILL WORK PERFECTLY FINE AS LONG AS THE ORIGINAL OWNER CONTINUES TO MAKE PAYMENTS MONTLY FOR THE REMAINING BALANCE OWED ON THE DEVICE. Quit trying to argue and hold my beer.

So GameStop currently is offering $480 for iPhone 7 Plus as long as you are an elite member, ($30/yr) which for me brought the trade down to $450. Better then dealing with scum on fb and Craigslist. This is an on going promo that was just renewed.

Thanks for posting. I was going to post the same thing. I sold three iPhone 7+ 256 jet black for $479 cash per phone after purchasing the elite membership for $30 (but somehow earned more than $30 in rewards). The only catch was one type can only be traded in once per store so I had to bounce around a bit

If you don’t turn in the cord or wall plug they deduct $1.

I traded in a 7 plus that was on ATT Next program that still had a $384 balance on it with chipped corners from being dropped and they still gave $479.

Used the $479 to pay towards the full price X. Solid deal with little hassle.

Make sure you sign out of iCloud BEFORE going and disable any passwords. They run a test on the phone to verify all functions work then have you sign a paper and give you cash. In/out within 15mins.

Also traded in a 128gb Verizon iPhone 7 and got $383 -$1
Awesome! I'm definitely going tomorrow! I have 2 iPhones that I need to trade in. Values are $480 for VZW iPhone 7 Plus 128GB & $384 for iPhone 7 128GB. That doesn't include the $30 membership fee. I only pay one fee for both phone trades, correct?

I'd only get about $100 more on Swappa, so it's not worth the extra hassle for me.

Thanks. This sure beats the risk of selling on Swappa and Ebay.

Glad to see this is working for so many. I’ve been seeking out phones on fb market place to maximize profits haha. If I can get a 7+ vzw for $350-375 I snap them up and trade them in.

The fact remains, you still are supposed to pay off the device before selling it period. Call AT&T and ask them, they will RECOMMEND you do it. Gamestop will tell you to make sure it's paid off. Swappa, and Ebay have it in their policy. Any NORMAL human being would PAY OFF THE DEVICE before selling it. There is never a guarantee that you can continue paying for that device after selling it. What if you lost your job a month later?

You put too much trust into people to continue paying. That is how MANY get screwed by buying used phones. I guess only the educated are smarter about this.

you guys do no you can sell the phones on swappa ? https://swappa.com gust you guys never here of it be for with swappa is like gamestop they dont put up with other crap like on ebay and a few other site swappa has staff and rules when seller are ready too sell there stuff

I made sure they would honor the $480 price, they rang me up for the Elite Club, then proceeded with the trade in. After everything on the phone checked out, they scanned new new Elite Club card and gave me cash for the phone.

As for the SIM, I had wiped my phone and left it at the “Hello” screen. I guess to get it to the stage where they could verify it a SIM has to be inserted. They take it out after they verify the diagnostics.

THanks for the info, I'm brand new to iPhones, there seems to be so many versions of the same phone, how do you or GameStop check what model iPhone 7 plus it is? Is it a model number in the settings that means it's Sprint or Verizon or T-Mobile or at&t or factory unlocked sim free? Is it hidden in the fine print stamped on the back of the phone? GameStop has a big price difference between the att/Verizon phones compared to the Sprint/T-MOBILE ones.
