Well count me as someone considering the move from a Max to XR. I’ve been looking at both screens and it’s very hard to tell the difference.

To me the pros cons are...
Larger bezel (con), single camera (con), much better battery life.
I travel a lot so the battery life is very important. Just not sure if it outweighs the cons. I think it just might.

I think doing what you are doing is what everyone has to decide for themselves! I had the Max and went with the Xr. I loved the Max I think it is a fantastic phone.. But when I thought about my own situation and the way I use a phone. The $450 (128gb Xr vs 256 Max) to me just didn't compute for the Max to be worth it for the couple of things you mentioned. I've taken a lot of photo's on the nature trail this weekend. I am please with the camera! While some was rushing to get back to power, I still had over 50% battery life. Bezels I don't even notice! I think that is much to do about nothing, but that is again based on my use and I don't speak for anyone but me. :)

Max - 6.5' barely more 16:9 viewable area than the older +'s
XR- 6.1' Less 16:9 viewable area than the older +'s

I hate the price of the max I refuse to go down in screen size for videos because of a stupid notch. My big screen addiction has really started to cost me with Apple, i'm honestly considering going to the pixel 4 or something similar next year (first time since the 5S i'd go back to android). Pictures, video look comparable, prices are way less.

I couldn’t do it. I’ve found far to many sacrifices to my user experience to move from the Max to the Xr. Sure I could save some money. But for one, I’m not in the need too. Second, it’s the one thing I use more than anything. There are plenty of other things I can scarfice to make up the extra money besides downgrading my device experience.

In as much as they look vibrant with the fun factor, coming from X; I love my Max

The Verizon sales guy are calling the XR as the “budget” iPhone!

That’s just because Verizon associates are uneducated, there is _nothing_ budget about the XR, not for a $750.00 iPhone. I think what they really mean to say it is an *entry-level* iPhone for the new form factor era that Apple is offering next to the XS.

Do what the SE crowd and those of us who want a 5” Xr are doing....stay with current device and see what they do in 2019. For $750, $1000, $1400, it can wait until next year. I want a small form factor, and currently that starts at a grand, has PWM issues, and cellular connectivity problems, no thanks. Xr price way more attractive but no smaller form factor. Decision, the bird to 2018. I put a new battery in my 7, bought a slimmer case, done. First time I haven’t upgraded every 2 years since the original came out. Will upgrade the iPad instead this year with the new one coming.

absolutely love the size and feel of the XR but the Max screen does look better for text and video for me; battery has been comparable; and mainly personally the telephoto for sightseeing in excellent daylight where the f/2.4 lens makes a huge difference. i can take shots of buildings and statues but cut out things like cars, other people, and telephone wires. in darkness the point is moot since the Max drops to digital zoom with the f/1.8 still.

that being said, the XR is a lovely phone for a majority of people.

What in the world for , coming from an X; not a chance ! In as much as they look vibrant with the fun factor, it’s simply not my cuppa
No problem at all, cobber. Everyone's different eh. Thanks for replying. :D

Completely understandable.

Credit to you for resisting & discouraging Apple from charging these inflated prices.

Returned the 64gb MAX. I had serious buyers remorse after spending $1100 on a phone. Returned it and bought a 128GB XR. I am just as happy with the XR and now I have $300 more in my pocket.
