How are you liking the XR? Any regrets?
While I ‘tested’ it for almost a week I have only owned this XR for a day. No regrets. The XS is a great phone but I just ‘felt’ the XR more. I compared the XS and XR pretty extensively so familiar with both.

I really like the LCD of the XR.
I REALLY like the battery life of the XR.

LCD for the win. OLED has too many compromises that shouldn't exist in 2018. Like burn in LOL.
I am not sure burn-in is a major worry for the X/XS line. For me, the 3 different colors the OLED screen can be depending on angle was annoying.
[doublepost=1544476410][/doublepost]Honestly, my biggest concern was giving up speed from the new modem in the XS/XSM. However, my 8+ was capable of 250 Mbps down (cellular) that I know of and over 400 Mbps down (WiFi) so it will more than meet my needs.

Comparing some real-world speeds.. the XR is holding up well to what I got with the XS.

I went the opposite way. After having the X for a year I couldn’t get used to the chunkiness of the XR. I will say I miss the aluminum edges and the true white back though.

Understandable. I came from the 8+ to the XS.

My kids got an Xr, and I got an Xs, I'm not a fan of the larger size of the phone. I think at one point, one of my daughters was pushing to trade the XR for my Xs, but I'm happy with the Xs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

XS is a great phone. Again, I was so torn it was basically a toss-up. I went back to the screen (LCD) I prefer and battery life is gravy.

Non existent as of yet, even including your source material...Nilay (who has claimed he prefers the OLED on the iPhone X, XS, XS Max and will pay the premium for it on the XS/XS Max).
Burn in...510 hours of displaying the SAME image on the iPhone X:

I think it's best not to spread misinformation on these boards, especially when this has been
brought up many times.

especially if you know you're upgrading next year, XR is a safer bet imo.

XS/max resell value will be a slaughter next year. XR likely too, but lessened blow with cheaper starting price

Colors, no PWM/tint shift, and best battery life breath some life back into iPhone. Bringing back 128GB in style too, since 256 is absurd to me and 64 is something one can cope with but kinda weak for such an expensive phone on paper. its definitely the sweet spot for most.

X felt better in hand a bit, but I missed extra screen real estate coming from plus over the past year.

I dont know why you follow me around the forums and say this line about my "source" being Nilay. First off, the whole Nilay thing was about preferring LCDs to OLEDs and had nothing to do with Burn in. It's true that now Nilay claims to like the Apple OLED better than the LCDs, but my point, which I made at the time, was that Nilay claimed in the past to like the Apple LCDs over existing OLEDs in the market, like Samsung, who now provides Apple with their OLEDS. The Apple OLEDs posses the same exact shortcomings they have for years with Samsung, but now Nilay likes them. I found that to be suspicious on Nilays part and likely due to sponsorship money that Apple spends with Verge.

All this was in my original posts on the subject. Never tried to claim Nilay prefers LCD to this day. Yet you keep regurgitating this line every time I bring up the subject as if you are blowing the lid off of some conspiracy. I haven't bothered to respond until now because it's just so stupid, and shows a complete lack of rational thought on your end. It wasn't worth my time. Slow day at work today, so figured I'd take you down once and for all.

Finally - burn in. Plenty of users claiming burn in on the X after short times, and even seeing some XS and max burn in as well. But guess what? It doesn't matter that it's actually occurring in real life. the fact that it CAN OCCUR is what I'm making fun of. I don't care if it takes 2 years of screen on time - burn in is a joke and any tech that is susceptible to burn in belongs in 1994 with CRTS and screen savers.

What burn in.

This burn in here, direct from Apple:

"If you look at an OLED display off-angle, you might notice slight shifts in color and hue. This is a characteristic of OLED and is normal behavior. With extended long-term use, OLED displays can also show slight visual changes. This is also expected behavior and can include “image persistence” or “burn-in,” where the display shows a faint remnant of an image even after a new image appears on the screen. This can occur in more extreme cases such as when the same high contrast image is continuously displayed for prolonged periods of time. We’ve engineered the Super Retina display to be the best in the industry in reducing the effects of OLED "burn-in.""

One factor was I found myself using Reachability a good bit with the XS. That kind of made the extra size of the XR a wash.

Don’t get me wrong, the XS is a great phone. I liked having a smaller phone.. but I just couldn’t get the XR out of my head. I prefer the LCD to the OLED.

I have to admit, I own the XS Max, and one of the reasons I Purchased this model, I really was anticipating having the larger OLED panel, and side-by-side comparison with the XR and my Max, I can *barely* tell the difference at all between both dislays, and I consider myself a ‘tech enthusiast’ (If that tells you anything). So in theory, being that these phones are so close in competition, I think the XR is the better value.

Yeah, I think there is less than a $250 value difference, but I really think value is in the eye of the beholder.
Some here have noticed less sharpness in text and have returned the XR since the difference was noticeable, or have purchased an IP8+. Tech reviewers such as Detroitborg have noticed that as well, so for some it's worth the difference.
