scem0- good afternoon! I almost cheated on you last night, but I threw the little fish back in the pond. :)
Oh Lee, you silly man. Don't you know that you set a Sprat to catch a Mackerel !!! And you've just thrown the lure back.

[ignore me]

Ugh, my room mate is driving me mad so I'm going to vent.

He was on the phone with someone underneath me (i'm on my bed which is elevated above his desk), and he was reading someone's internet profile.

This person was putting some intimate details about his life and his spirituality and my room mate was gossiping with his friend about it, saying "he's so retarded, why would he put that in his profile... he's such a nerd.... he's, like, completely socially inept..." That was what he said right after he read "I'm christian but I don't let other christians determine what I believe, I let Jesus do that." This is so childish of my room mate. This person's spirituality is obviously important to him and he wants to make it clear that he doesn't believe something just because a Christian says it. That's totally understandable, I'd be the same way if I were a Christian. My room mate's gossiping is exactly what makes teens so superficially competitive. Anything that isn't the norm is "gross" according to my room mate.

Earlier today I was listening to Alicia Keys. I'm not the biggest fan of her music but she has some gems on both her CDs. He asked me "why are you listening to Alicia Keys?" in such a way that I knew he didn't like her. And I said "some of her songs are really good" and he said "she acts like a man in real life...". I was a fed up with him at this point just because of his constant obsession with celebrity personalities, so I said "I don't know what Alicia Keys' personality is like, but if she really is like a man and she isn't afraid to act that way then I'm 100 percent okay with that. It takes courage to be honest about yourself." and he said "but she shouldn't act so manly" and then (no joke  ) turned around and turned up his Hillary Duff.

I'm really annoyed by him. Everything has to be in its place. If a woman doesn't act womanly, she's "gross". He hates fat people... He hates honest people... and he hates when things are out of place. He accepts things on a superficial level and I hate that. He doesn't even know what he actually likes. He's so frikin' lost and all he has to say to the honest is "ewww...".

[/ignore me]

I know he goes and talks to his friends about me and how I go to clubs and do this and that. I'm positive that he says something along the lines of "why does he tell people about what he does in clubs when he does such gross things?" and he's too afraid to ask me to my face. I'd tell him that I do that because I want people to know who I am, not who Emerson's persona is. I'll answer any question anyone asks me honestly. I don't hide anything anymore because lies slow progress and half-truths are coins with two sides.

Sorry to hear about that scem0. Your room mate sounds like a complate jackass. Oh sure you can't listen to Alicia Keys, but he can listen to Hillary Duff. That is $#%&@! up. Hippocritical bastard. Oh sorry.

Emerson, In this gay olde world of ours, there's a lot of folk like your room mate, and yes it can be very trying to listen to their two faced crap. Perhaps that's why I'm happier living solo. It sounds like in your living arrangements, you have no 'private space' Do you think if you gave him a right royal rev up it'd get through to him? I'm afraid I'd just spit the dummy, and perhaps you'll have to front up to him too. How do the others in your suite group feel about the situation?

Tell me about it . I'm getting tired of (ignore me now) all these things that make teen behavior so annoying. It's like popularity can't be gained in any way except bit**ing about people behind their backs. The nasty part is that most continue to do the same thing throughout their lives.

At least now we know that there is one thing that teens (some of them at least) have in common with their parents: hating everything outside the norm. Except the parents complain about punks, goths (and any other social current for that matter) and... gays; whereas the kids find a problem in just about anything they can find out, normal or abnormal, about their peers (and... gays).

Now y'all can stop ignoring me :).

When I was in H.S. I went through every color of Miss Clairol and Some Manic Panic. The best was when I had dyed my hair so much, that my hair couldnt hold anymore color, my hair was Calico, it was totally crazy but awesome.

I still dye my hair once and a while, no Manic Panic colors though (Too Old for that) I recently dyed my hair Red Violet #5 (bright red) when I got my hair cut two weeks ago.

Back from a tough day at work. Hard to be bright and cheerful when you feel like crap. This cold will not shake it self off!:(

Back when I had hair in my youth I did the perm and dyeing my hair blond. Also did the streaking thing too.

I sometimes get tempted to dye my goatee darker, but then I will look like a bad Ronald Reagan dye job IMO.

One thing that I will never do is get hair plugs; they look like a reforestation project gone bad!

This is not a movie to see if you are in a bad state of mind, or have lost loved ones recently (regardless of cause), but it is good, and worth seeing.

Thanks for the heads up. Reminds me of a friend taking me to see Ordinary People after my first lover attempted suicide and moved out.

Oh sweetie- hate to tell you, but lots of us homos are that way. I don't get it either. It never ceases to amaze me how critical and just downright mean so many of us can be. I mean- we have such a hard time already, why pick on each other?

I think a lot of it has to do with low self-esteem all too many gays have. All you hear is how we're such bad people, etc. So, I think your roommate's reacting to that by externalizing his own self-doubt/self-loathing and putting it onto others. You may not see it, but he's most likely very jealous of you.

Loic, a young, gay man in Switzerland, fills the emotional void of his turbulent sex life with dreams of self-betterment. When a casual but tender encounter with an older guy presents the promise of emotional connection and validation, Loic arrives at one of the most crucial crossroads of his life.

Im a sucker for coming of age movies, but this one looks good.

hmm that pic is reason enough to see this film!! *runs out to find it... *

Well, I wouldn't call him a jackass. I don't dislike him, I just think he has a lot of growing up to do. I'm just glad that he isn't psycho or rude. :p

I wouldn't be surprised - he's jealous of just about everyone in the world. He is obsessed with celebrity personas which tend to side on the perfect. Hillary Duff has never had a sad day in her life if her persona has anything to say about it .

He talks a lot about how jealous he is of other people, so I think you're right about him having low self esteem and externalizing it in that way.

I got the same reaction when I was forming my first punk band in college. My straight friends were all for it. But my gay friends could only say how nobody was going to go see a punk band with an openly gay lead singer. They were wrong. :) I became somewhat of a local celebrity after that. Keep doing what you do, be yourself and don't listen to people who try to tear you down.

Whoa! Slow down!

1. Go to the doctor.
2. Be cool tomorrow and let it die. Hopefully your cousin will feel bad about your finger.

you should start diving instead of playing football. It's much more fun, IMO, safer too :). Actually it can be dangerous, seeing the video of greg louganis hitting his head on the 3 meter springboard chilled me to the bone. I loved the 3 meter springboard once upon a time. But it's quite safe. The worst I ever got hurt in 5 years of intense diving was turning too fast after diving off the 5 meter platform and straining my back.
