Yeh i've heard as much. So did you get canned off your tits? that can always affect the experience. If it's a really bad movie or comedy it usually improves it :) especially if you're watching with someone else that's off their tits :)
Zaid, But of course, I jest not my friend. Unfortunately I was flying solo with the DVD, but I think I sort of enjoyed it. I'll look at the director's cuts in the morning. That'll be a bit gorier. But right now, I hear my monastic couch calling.

Good man!

As for your couch, resist the call it's only like half past midnight in kiwiLand isn't it?

Echte Kerle and Latter Days both look real good. I added them to my queue, which I'll never get through. I think I'm up to 22 movies.

I'm sure I'd disagree about Hannibal, I think that scene in Bambi where the birds are hiding in the bushes as the hunters are hunting is scary . I was the only kid who thought E.T. was scary as a child :p. I just get scared easily in movies, as silly as that may be. I think cannibalism would scare me if bambi and E.T. do :).

I just let myself get wrapped up in the story, so when the poor little birds were trapped in the bushes and that one bird kept saying "I need to get out of here..." and the music kept escalating it scared me. I haven't seen Bambi or E.T. in ages, so I don't know if they'd still scare me, but I have a feeling that the M&M garage scene would still scare me in E.T. and I might still cry when Bambi's mother dies in Bambi :p.

Enough about that - anything interesting happening in anyone's lives?

I'm teaching myself Chinese, that's the most interesting thing happening in my life. I am using the Rosetta Stone software, so far it is working quite well. Before using the software I could only count and say basic things, but now I've learned plurals, boy, girl, man, woman, horse, elephant, ball, plane, lots of colors, horse, and my pronunciation is getting much better. And I'm only a third of the way through the first unit on the first CD. I think after getting through both CDs, having some Chinese speaking friends help me out, and maybe a trip to China town I'll have a pretty firm grasp on Mandarin. Exciting, eh? :)

Mandrin is definately on my list, I had a ton of chinese and taiwanese mates at uni and did pick up a bit. had my ear in for the tones and everything :) Still in touch with a bunch of them so plenty of people to practice on when i pick it up.

I think before that though i need to get my French and Spanish into a decent state. I'm making a real effort with that now.

Ah so many languages to learn!! Arabic is also on my list. German as well because it should be really easy for me to pick up the vocab. For family reasons i need to start picking up some Urdu and Persian as well.

Yeah, it helps a lot to hear the language spoken before trying to learn it. So, I think having gone to China, I won't have too much trouble picking up the tones of Chinese.

They are hard though, ma means 5 different things. It means mother, hemp, horse, to curse, and I think it can also propose a question. Mixing up these tones could be... bad. ;)

I would love to hear a Chinese speaker say "I curse your mother for smoking hemp on her horse" - "I ma your ma for smoking ma on her ma". :D

Yeh that's the example my mate used when he explained the concept to me.

ROFL, that has all the makings of a good python scetch :D

As good as the line used to show how everyone's favourit swearword can be used as every and any part of speach:

The effing effer's effing effed off and effing left me to do all the effing work!

[Clearly i'm using effing as a substitute for the real thing]

Noun: Check
Verb: Check
Adjective: Check
adverb: Check (well sort of)

On double posting: Let's just not double post so that no one has anything to bitch about. I don't think the mods should feel obligated to fix such things, no one cares about double-posts. Sometimes they are even nice to segment two disparate topics. But it's an easy enough rule to follow, so let's just follow it.

I know I am one of the bad ones. In a Super Thread like this, I find it easier to try and respond individually. But hey.

Agreed. I said it would happen right after the no-graphic posts issue. :(

The thread just got watered down after that point.

I disagree. In between some "plain" posts (example the posts between you and Lee, or between Gary and myself). In between these we have had some good Gay movie suggestions, your wanting to go-go dance, my observation from the documentary 30 Days - Straight/Gay, a work place issue about interest in co-workers.

Not too terrible IMO for a "watered down" thread.

Agreed, This thread will never remain watered down for long. Not with the inner drama-queen in all of us trying to come out :D

I still wanna talk about sex, and I want to do it in multiple posts right next to each other god damnit! :D ;)

Personally i'm more for the doing than the talking :p Though multiple times right next to each other works for me as well :D

[Hope that's not tooo saucy, if so thicken up with a bit of corn flour]
