Does this case cover up the silver bezel around the iphone? Or does it still show through the case? It looks like it shows but I cant tell if its the plastic I'm seeing or the silver bezel.

The metal shows through but only if you look closely and it's not very easy to see it, you have to hold it at an angle.

Has anybody had trouble with this case scratching the back of the phone.
The most recent reviews on the apple store site seem to claim this:

I agree that this case looks good. However, the purpose of buying this is to protect the iPhone but it has the opposite effect when it comes to the back of the phone. To open the case you have to push down and slide the back of the case off. This will give very bad scratches on the back of your iPhone, as it is impossible to prevent that small particles get under the back of the case. These particles will then scratch the back of your iPhone when you open the case, as it did with my brand new IPHONE. If you want to protect your new phone DON'T buy this case!!!

I also had the scratching problem that is described above. They are more like pits or knicks in the plastic from grit being driven into the surface.

Stay away from cases like these. Ate into a new iPhone's plastic in less than 10 minutes.

Could somebody post a picture of the knock-off case, with an iphone in it, looking straight down at the front. I've seen a lot of pictures of the front, but they are all turned at an angle. I'm curious to get a look at the front of it straight on. Thanks!

Icebox Pro

Hey everyone. I was looking for a transparent, good-looking, and tough case for my iPhone about two weeks ago; then I found this forum. This lead me to discover the Gear4 Icebox Pro, which I hoped would fulfill all my requirements. I took me about two weeks to receive my $41 iPhone case from the time it shipped. I just picked it up from USPS about 1 hour ago. First off, I'll say that this case will definitely serve the intended purpose of any cell phone case; it will protect your phone from anything and everything. Second, it's not too bad looking, especially for a case that protects the entire phone. Way better looking than any of those ugly silicone cases people buy. Third, the touch responsiveness is a 8/10 for me, it seems typing is just a hair more difficult. For the protection this case provides, it's worth getting used to. I don't have any air bubbles, but if the iPhone is viewed from the side there is a rainbow-ish bubble that must be the only area where the front of the case is not flush with the iPhone screen. I'm pretty happy with it so far! I'll give it a 9/10 for now. Honestly, no case is perfect, and it makes sense we may have to sacrifice a little to get this much protection for our phones. Good luck to everyone :apple:

Everyone with the Gear4 IceBox Pro for iPhone 3G, how is it holding up? Any scratches on the iPhone while removing it to clean? Mines shipped out a couple of days ago but unfortunately I can't track it since it's only for UK shipments. Thank you!

I received my case-mate naked in the mail today.

So far it works good. Its a bit thick - probably about like the IceBox pics above. Its a little difficult to get the phone out of the case, but probably not too bad since it won't be done often. I can't comment on scratching since mine has no grit in the case because I have not been using it long. There seems to be a little clearance between the back of the phone and case though, so hopefull that will alleviate the chance for scratching.

As far as the touch-through screen, it works very well, just like its not there at all.

I've had my Icebox for almost 3 weeks now and no scratches on the Iphone from the case. I guess it depends on how you open up the case and remove the iphone from it. I posted here on this thread before, a video link on youtube on how to remove the case easily and not damage your iphone. Check it out.

My only gripes is the back of the case is not scratch resistant unlike the front of the case which up to now still doesn't have a single scratch and not even a hairline scratch. But the scratches on the back of the case is more of hairline scratches so it's not that obvious plus I don't look at it everytime anyway so it doesn't bother me, better the case than my iphone :p

x2

I don't have a single scratch on my iphone from the case (thanks to edtorious who kindly posted a youtube video on how to remove the case; I suggest all Ice Box users check it out).

If the back on this case was scratch resistant, this case would be PERFECT! I can't stand the little scratches on the back of the case... (sigh)

I have been using my Icebox case off and on for several weeks now. I regularily take it out of the Icebox and use another Vaja Case when I am at work, but prefer the icebox when I am at home.

There are no scratches on the rear of my iPhone from taking off the icebox. All I can say is that the reviewers on the Apple website must have been incredibly heavy handed with what they were doing to scratch the back !

As for the Icebox itself. I have a few scratches on the front and back but nothing that detracts from using the phone or the way it looks.

I have some scratches on the back of the iphone, and haven't done anything out of the ordinary with it. If you keep your phone mostly on your pocket and be most of your time outdoor, your pocket will have some dust in no time, and will get into this case thorugh its openings.

I have actually placed mine aside, and will be using the iphone naked or use one of those full skins.

Yes I have noticed the dust build up, which does need cleaning out regularily. I suppose if you live or work in a dusty/sandy environment there is the potential to get grit or sand trapped which would scratch the iPhone surface. But living in London I have not encountered that problem.

(including one of my old customised cheap and cheerful Sony-Ericsson )

It looks like the packaging (at least) is different from what you purchased and what is being shipped from GEAR4.

I finally got a chance to try it out only to find out it doesn't fit. The bottom is too snug and I can't close it. It would involve too much force in which I will probably scratch it. If someone just received theirs, please let me know if you're having any issues. I've already contacted GEAR4 and am requesting a RMA for an exchange. When I placed my order and inquired about when it would ship out, they said they were all out and JUST received a new order so I'm wondering if it's one from a bad batch. I tried it out on several of my friends' iPhone 3Gs and they all didn't fit. Good luck!

are you sure you don't have a protective skin on your iphone? It will probably won't fit on the case if you still have a double protective skin on your iphone. Well I had a zagg invisibleshield on my iphone before and it still fit on the case but i feel it's too tight and so I removed the shield because I don't want to put a lot of strain on my iphone and I'm scared that it will crack my iphone so without the shield the iphone fits snuggly and just right on the case. Oh and are you putting the case right? Make sure you line up the back of the case to the front start from the top and both side of the back should slide very easily.

Yes, I'm lining it up.

No, I'm not using a protective film for the back.

It happens to other iPhone 3Gs as well.

To Icebox owners, do you have problems with near edge screen sensitivity like with Ivyskin that you have to press hard in the corners?
