Got mine today and I must say its a nice bit of kit though as it's plastic its gonna get scratched to buggery. I feel a naked iPhone is much more durable as its glass and much better quality plastic.

I'm sure you don't need more pics but I'll post some later anyway. :p

yea, I know what u mean about the scratches, but only on the back of the case, for some reason it easily get scratched even by just wiping it clean  but so far the front of the case is scratch free, I wonder why  does the back and front has different materials? I'm disappointed but will keep this one for now.

For everyone else who has the Icebox, how tight is the back?

Before I received mine I read about how difficult it was to take apart, however mine just seems to slide away with a little pressure from my thumb, is this right?

I just received my case from eBay (the one I posted a link to earlier) and without a doubt it is the biggest piece of ***** I have ever seen in my life. I would rather wrap my phone in cling wrap then put this junk on it. First it came out of the package with MASSIVE scratches on the screen. I mean I heard it scratched easily but this was like someone threw it across the pavement before packaging it into the box. Secondly the "touch through" glass claim is such bull*****. I literally had to put as much pressure as I could for the iPhone to even begin to respond. That could be an issue simply because I have Ghost Armor on it but others here said that it didn't cause any problem. Also the air bubble issue was not even close to being solved by having the screen and back protector on it. Needless to say don't waste your time with this garbage. Wait for the casemate or the incase slider. I've contacted the seller and I hope to get a refund for this amateur attempt of a case. For now I'll stick with my GA and hopefully I don't drop it before inCase gets its act together and releases the slider.

I just got the exact one off ebay and at first I though it had scratches and bubbles on the front part. I also thought that the touch sensitivity was horrible. I installed it at night in low light. This morning I realized that there is a protective plastic sheet that covers the front and needs to be taken off. Once off the screen has no scratches or bubbles and the touch sensitivity is excellent. For the cost I would recommend it.

LOL wow! Boy do I feel stupid :p If I had never have seen that post, I would've had that protective film on it FOREVER. I too thought my case had scratches and bubbles on it, but after removing that clear plastic sheet, there's no scratches and the touch sensitivity is perfect! Just to clarify, there's only one sheet on the front part of the screen (where you touch), right? I looked on the inside and I didn't see a sheet so I just want to double check...

I still have the Gear4 Ice Box on the way, but this is serving as a great temp/back-up case!

Where's protective plastic sheet? On the front where you touch or inside where you put your iPhone? I can't find it.

Also do you have a plastic tab in the sides of the case where the phone meets the case? (see pic)

When I went to put mine on I saw that film but I couldn't seem to figure out how to get it off so I figured it was just a really crappy case that had a filmy look to it. The case was very unresponsive so I figured I'd forget it and just keep using the Speck Pixel case and screen protector I had been using. So then I read this and picked the film off and now the case is more responsive but still not amazing. The front screen has a bit of a give to it i've noticed. Every time you go to push something on the touch screen the case screen cover dips in a bit, its kinda annoying but it still works. I do have the clear screen protector on the front still though so it could have something to do with that, I doubt it though.

I find that if you squeeze the sides near the base slightly it's a lot easier to remove the back.

how responsive is the touch screen with the gear4 ice box?

Seems to be just as responsive as a naked iPhone but it feels better to move your fingers across the glass of the iPhone that it is across the plastic of the screen cover. Might just be me though. :p

I agree! But heck, I'll get used to it! Can't wait to get mine in the mail :D

Air bubbles

Hi,

I've bought a Gear4 Icebox for my iphone 3g, and I am having the air bubbles problem... I have tried padding the case from inside, but the front case doesn't stop from sticking to the sreen, leaving partial spots, including air bubbles!

Is there any recommendation you can make? any special cleaning that may prevent this?

I like this case a lot, but I'm seriously thinking about returning it, considering it has this problem. :(

Thanks

How long did it take you to get yours ? or anyone that has recieved it, Mine shipped out 8 days ago, and Im still waiting...as for the Air bubbles, some people squeeze the sides, other people used masking tape, Do you have a film or screen protector on it

But how long did it take to ship?

I ordered it at Apple store on th 29th and got it on the 30th (Portugal).

The side squeeze doesn't work after it sticks, because there are some parts that don't actually unstick. I have applied some masking tape on the sides, but it didn't do much good, and I haven't any additional screen protectors placed...

Macman, ordered mine July 24th (Thursday), and mine came yesterday July 30 (Wednesday) to here in the United States-New Jersey. Hope that helps.

Finally got my Gear4 Ice Box yesterday. I compared it to the case I purchased off eBay, let me just say it's 100x better! It's gorgeous looking and the touch screen works perfect. The only downfall...GETTING THE CASE OFF! I nearly broke the darn thing and was pouring sweat by the time I got it off... I tried squeezing the bottom and pushing out with my thumb, didn't even budge. Any other techniques or methods on getting the case off safely?

Some pictures of the air bubbles issue. The center bubbles are caused by dust but the edge bubbles are there because of the difference in heights of the front case.

Wow. That sucks! I don't have that issue with my Gear4 Ice Box...

...yet

The air bubbles are a design flaw on these type of cases. This issue has been going on since the first gen iphone. There really is no way around it since over time the front of the case will warp and cause it to curve in the middle. You can try placing cushions between the iphone and screen, but all that will do is create an air pocket which requires you to press harder on the screen to make it work. It's a really nice looking case, its just too bad the screen doesnt stay flush on the iphone.

thanks genticfreak, I have two last questions, did they deliver at your house and did you have to sign, also...Are you using a scren film like power support under the plastic front casing...I have one on already and dont know if it will fit, or effect it like air bubble and such

Here are some pictures of the case without the iPhone in it. I hope that clarifies things for the people asking about the design of the case. There definitely is a bit of a knack to getting the case off, by the way. I can do it fairly easily but it took me a while to figure out just where to try to slide my thumbnail into the join between the two sections of the case in order to release the four raised "blobs" from the four holes.

I followed this tip from a previous post here and it works, I even try to raise the four raise blob so I can slide the case away easily, you just gotta do it carefully and slowly so not to break the four rased blobs and no scratches. I don't think there is really no easy way to remove the case but no problem for me, I only remove my case only when I'm at home cleaning my iphone and the case after a hard day's work. Hope this helps...;)

(1) Yes, I was at work but my aunt had to sign to retrieve it. I think I saw someone post above saying he/she picked his/her package from the post office. That might be the case if someone is not available to sign for the package.

(2) I have a clear plastic film that covers the touch portion of the phone. I purchased it at the Apple store the day I purchased the phone. The case fits fine with that film over my screen.

Hope that helps!
