Bummer...mine should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have that problem although I rarely take pictures requiring a flash with my phone.

Thanks everyone for the feedback here. We're looking into the issue right now and think we've found a viable solution. I'll post up here when we know more.

Thanks for your patience!

What about customers like me and XRAYTECH who have already ordered and received our GELASKIN?

I'm sure they will offer a solution for us as well. Mine is due to be delivered Monday and I'm sure it too has this issue.

Got a reply from customer service...

Hi Bernard,

Thank you for your email, and the heads up! I have forwarded this along to the appropriate individuals, and will definitely keep you updated! Strangely enough, ours does not seem to replicate the action listed in the thread.

Warmest regards,

Elizabeth Perry

The ones who have their gelaskins. Do you have problems with the top front skin blocking the proximity sensors? I do. I put my skin on yesterday, and I didn't talk on my phone until today. I kept hearing the person on the other end saying Hello constantly and I couldn't figure out at first what was wrong. Then I finally pull the phone away from my face and see that Mute was hit. This happened several times today.

I know some people have said that the iPhone 4 has proximity sensor issues but I haven't had any until i installed gelaskins.

Gelaskins needs to have cutouts for the sensors because I'm going to have to take the ones off the front (the top and bottom one) because cannot use the phone with these problems. I have to take the bottom one off because it will not look right on by itself. I really am not happy about this problem.

No Flash Problem - Yet

So I received my custom GelaSkin today and took a picture of my office with UV lighting, with and without using the flash. Then I applied the skin and repeated the process. After importing the photos into iPhoto I can honestly say that I cannot see any problem with the skin on the phone.

Note: the portion of my skin that surrounds the flash is completely black. Just luck with the way the picture lined up although maybe this is why I do not see any problems.

However, it really is a pain to get the holes for the camera and flash lined up correctly. Thankfully the skin is forgiving enough to allow for multiple attempts.

The only problem I did have was when I placed my Apple bumper on the phone: it "bubbled" up the corner next to the camera hole and I had to flatten it out with my fingernail. Flexing the bumper only caused the bubble to reappear and when I finally fixed it from happening again the corner of the skin looks like it has been through a battle.

Update: Aw crap, I just noticed the corner has reappeared. :(

So, again, thanks for all the feedback folks - it's this kind of stuff that really helps us move forward and make the best product out there! Regarding the sensors; we have made cutouts for them and what likely happened is that they accidentally peeled up with your skin when you removed it from the backer.

Remove the skin and look closely; I'm sure you'll find the two little pieces I'm talking about. There's one above the speaker hole, and one to the right of it - you can pop them out with your fingers I suspect.

About the flash issue; We've got a solution and are just waiting on another small detail to fall into place, so we should have something to talk about in a week or so. When we do make the change, any of you folks that are experiencing the issue and would like to exchange it, we'll happily replace the skin for you free of charge.

Oh and since I've got your time, I'll plug our current contest! :) we're giving away an iPhone 4 to one lucky follower once we reach 7500 Twitter followers. Just follow us and RT to enter.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks Brian. I really appreciate a company that stands by their product.

Thanks for taking the time to come in and provide an update. I'm taking delivery of my skin this Monday and was wondering, if the flash issue pops up should i start the return process now or wait for your official word on the return process?

Thanks again. :)

Easy fix for your Bumper issue. Reapply your skin with about a millimeter of reveal around the skin.

GelaSkins, YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

In my short time here on MacRumors, you are the only one that has responded to feedback on MR.

Good on you.

I do have a question. Do I have to resubmit my print to get my free replacement or do you have my print on some sort of database?

Here's a pic of my Custom Gelaskin. Sorry for the delay and quality. Taken with the Macbook

Thanks XRAYTECH. Forgot to mention there's a Black Bumper on it.
