Geohot Withdraws from iPhone Jailbreak and Unlock Scene

Can understand some folks want to take shots at the guy, their choice.
Having not jailbroke the first two iPhones, used his solution on the 3GS and bottom line, it's appreciated.
If he doesn't release something this time, it changes nothing.
I still appreciate and thank the guy for his work that I directly benefited from.
(Yes awaiting a jailbreak for the iPhone 4.)

It is too bad that all you whiners and haters and entitled brats out there drove Geohot to the point of not wanting to make a release, but I can completely understand his feeling.
That said, I don't think Geohot's completely done hacking the iPhone. He'll continue on the technical side and leave releases to the Dev Team. Probably better for all concerned.

He shouldn't have to change his phone number because impatient morons can't wait for their godly dev-team to release a jailbreak.

Yeah we shouldn't have to have war, crime, poverty etc. So what? Why do these people have his number anyway? And if they do, CHANGE it. I've had to do it once. It's a minor hassle, sure, but so what? If we went about our everyday lives giving up because there are some douchebags in the world, we'd never get anything done.

If you have a facebook,myspace, twitter, street address, purchased something online, etc people can and will troll until they find your information. try googling yourself or a neighbor. You will be suprised.
1+ too many people expect jailbreaks but barely a clue how too impalement it. I can't blame any Dev that is just sick of a bunch of cry babies that only care for themselves.
I dont know, there's always going to be ignorant folks that demand, whine and keep asking for JB, unlocks and stuff.
But just like others you gotta ignore and avoid the negativity thats all.
But again he's just a kid and maybe he dont know how to handle it like the Dev Team and many other more mature groups out there.
Why doesn't he just charge for it? I'm assuming there is some legal limitation to charging, but there are plenty of businesses who charge for unlocking if not jailbreaking.
Just get it done with, yeah we are all babies crying for a new release from you, but instead of complaining about it just charge $10 for the jailbreak and have done with it. I could care less if he makes a million bucks, as long as HE stops crying about human nature.

I missed the part where he was forced to give interviews to all the networks a few years ago. I missed the part where he was forced to give out his phone number and start a blog. I'm sure it was heady stuff when it all started. Now he's seeing the downside of 'fame' and he's handling it like a petulant adolescent. He is being poorly advised, if he's being advised at all. Someone should tell him to just be quiet, he brings a lot of this on himself, although I'm sure he'd never admit that.
Regardless of what you think of the man, if he were to leave the iPhone scene it would be a huge loss. There was a time when the dev team struggled to find an unlock exploit on the iPhone 3G for many months and he found one after a few days. There's no denying his talent.

The first person with the paid for app will just put it all over the internet. Thats how it works with everything already.
There's nothing stopping him from charging for it. But these hackers do it for the respect and challenge rather than financial gain (which would lose them the respect of their peers). That is perhaps why he is angry that he does all that hard work and people still insult him

The Dev Team pwnage tools came out long ago. I know because I used them long before geohot's products came out.
Where do people get off calling him. Those are the kind of people that are unbalanced! I used to love hacking into the iPod touch and messing with different setting. I miss the old jailbreaks that weren't just connect push a button like they are today. It took some level of skill with a computer to accomplish it. I guess you could say that he was his own demise. The easier he made it i.e. all in one jailbreak, the more of a crowd he got to follow him. If he would of never made something so simple he would still probably be doing this for the hardcore jailbreakers. You will be missed but you wont be the only one releasing a jailbreak.
