NO WAY ON GEORGE CLOONEY!

He doesn't have Steve's personality, nor could he speak like Steve.
Christ he doesn't even look like him..

Noah Wyle is way better suited for the part!

re: Jobs and "God status"

I don't know.... I think it was more ridiculous to make the "Social Network" movie that was VERY loosely about Zuckerberg (a guy who by all actual accounts is a pretty boring, lame younger guy in the I.T. world, living in a typical, boring California home, who just got lucky that people flocked to Facebook as competing, paid sites like Classmates.com were dying off).

Sure, there are more important people than Steve Jobs! But usually, they, too, get their own biographies and books or movies made about them. As one of my good friends said, Jobs is the first businessman he ever really felt emotional over when he died. I'm not sure America has had anyone in corporate America like him since perhaps Henry Ford (another guy who certainly doesn't deserve some sort of "god-like" status, but was very interesting and influenced an entire industry). And even Ford never had the chance to hold the title of C.E.O. of two companies simultaneously!

I think this is going too far. I mean, I like Jobs. I respected him for what he did at Apple. But I don't like this God status that he gets in the press, since he is died. What they are saying about him changing the world, c'mon. Movies, books, stories. There are more important people then Jobs. Leave the guy alone. I don't think he would liked this anyway.

John Siracusa has a scathing review of the Isaacson book on 5by5.com the hypercritical podcast. Yeah it's hypercritical but also pretty correct. I hope the movie handles the tech details correctly.
Just forget it if the same guy writes the script who did the Fincher film.
What about the greatest actor ever - David Duchovny?
He should go back to Princeton. ;)

Wyle better play him! He did an amazing job in pirates and the man is like Steve's long lost identicle twin brother. They shouldn't even consider anybody else.

Last month, we noted that Sony Pictures was reportedly courting Aaron Sorkin to write the screenplay for a film adaption of Walter Isaacson's authorized biography of Steve Jobs. At the time, former ER star Noah Wyle, who played Jobs in the 1999 made-for-TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley, reported that he would love to reprise the role in a new film.

According to British magazine NOW, Wyle is indeed in the running to play Jobs in the forthcoming film, with his former ER co-star George Clooney reportedly also in the mix.Isaacson's biography of Jobs has been one of the biggest-selling books of the year despite having debuted just last month. Amazon projected just after the book's release that it could become the company's #1 seller for 2011, and the title currently stands at #2.

Russian actor Peter Mamonov should play Jobs in the last years of Jobs life.
He really looks like Steve Jobs.

Tom Welling!!!

Oh wait ... which message board am I on?

Wyle did a great job in POSV. I think with better direction (that "film" was overacted left, right and center), and with a script penned by Sorkin, he'd nail that part.

I'm also in favor of an unknown.

Problem with Clooney is he's pretty grey and the beef of Jobs' story takes place in the '70s/'80s (with exception to the revitalization of Apple in the Aughts). You have to cast an actor that has enough range to physically play a 20-year-old and convincingly play a 50-year-old.

But let's not make the Leo J. Edgar mistake. That makeup is horrendous.

Who's going to play the Steve Jobs Bill Gates hybrid?

In that case then they should stop production on The Al Davis movie.

Al Davis change the face a American Football in so many ways, some people think he deserves what you call God Status.

Matt Damon as Jony Ive(he already shaved his head for Elysium)
Bratt Pitt as Scott Forstall
Jonah Hill as Phil Schiller?
Andy Garcia as Gil Amelio

Could Soderberg direct as well? I know Hill wasn't in any of the Ocean's movies and the book didn't really have much of these guys

I mean no disrespect here at all but how are either one of those guys gonna play a man that is very skinny dying from cancer ?
Ever see Benjamin Button? Captain America? There's this thing called special effects. Handled properly, you can do amazing things with it. Besides, I'm sure that would be a small part of the film.

Is that really so hard to do? They could do a "Skinny Steve" treatment just like they accomplished in Captain America. Do it digitally.

+1,000,000.

In all seriousness, if they really wanted to do it, they could easily do it with technology similar to benjamin button or captain america. It would make for a very expensive documentary however.
