Both your example and the supposedly "Blackberry-like" example came out a year after the iPhone was demoed. Neither example proves what the people posting the prototypes think they prove.

Same could be said for assumptions without proof that Android copied iOS. Bottom line is iOS has copied many of the things Android already had... like the Notifications.

To get religious over your phone hurts you more than anything. Fandroid

Fandroid? I own an iPhone and an HTC Evo. With the 350 shares of stocks I bought at $23 dollars (as an ESPP employee option) a share Apple thriving really only benefits me.

Everyone has copied from EVERYONE when it comes to software. Be it mobile phone platforms, desktop operating systems, or whatever.

Most of the pro-Android people here are not so much anti-Apple but rather anti-Apple-FANBOY. You fanboys really are completely insane. I can never understand the completely ignorant blind loyalty that goes on for a COMPANY, irrespective of product. It makes no sense as a consumer. Get a life guys. Why the heck does it matter who copied who from a CONSUMER standpoint?

Stop already!

This is such a joke. Since when did Apple become the company that has to sue people to stay ahead? Apple used to destroy the competition because they out-innovated the competition.

The old apple: "Sure, copy this design, because by the time you do, we will already be one step ahead."

The new apple: "We would rather sue you than innovate our products. If you steal our old design, people won't want to spend the premium we put on our products."

I'm afraid this new strategy of suing rather innovating is Apple admitting, in not so many words, that their innovation is already suffering without Jobs. I'm scared to think that the pipeline, post whatever Steve had a final say on, looks bleak.

Thats the whole point. Innovation is the product of imitation. Everyone gets an idea from somewhere. Jonny Ive made his entire career off jacking designs from early Braun products. Apple wasn't first to the computer game or the mobile game.

Funny thing is the people calling us FANdroids don't realize we are MAC USERS!

lol that is disturbing. Can't Google or Samsung do anything for themselves :\

So, the first Blackberry Curve came out in like 2008. I'm assuming that prototype in the picture is earlier than that. So... Blackberry copied Android prototypes? Or... wait...

Is that the same prototype? Maybe they were both "in existence" in 2008. Dunno, but its been three years and this Curve I have was purchased like a month ago. Way to keep up with trends Blackberry. :p

Really, most phones looked like this in mid 2000s. Keyboard, joystick or dpad in the middle. But the OS its self in the picture of the android prototype looks very similar to the latest blackberry OS (that runs on my Curve), which is kinda sad for Blackberry.

Samsung though would like to have such army of blind followers.

so you're saying the guy that left Apple and went to Google while he was working on the iPHone before release didn't implement his ideas or tell someone about Apple's IP at google and somehow Android ended up a lot like iOS? ok

It's not a lot like iOS, that's my point. If it was, you wouldn't have both sides saying theirs is best. Both platforms have their ups and downs but they certainly aren't the same.

I really don't get why people have to argue so much about which is better, who copied who...as consumers enjoy the choice that two(3 w/ WP7) great platforms brings you. Does it bother you so much that I enjoy my Android? Or should it bother me that my wife loves her iPhone? Seems silly really

Bullseye on the last part. The first part i don't agree so much. I find most pro android people love to brag by putting apple stuff down. Lets face it they cannot brag about much at all when it comes to being unique so they have to go on pricing etc etc.

I don't care about phones at all I barely even use mine lol. If i were to get a new phone though it would be an iphone purely for the build quality (aluminium and glass) and personally I think the design of it *****s all over any android device. They are all yuck to look at it. no offence to them i would use it if I had no other choice :p

pretty sure Apple designed the first GUI os didn't they?

It's been tossed around from where they got it. Steve said he got it from Xerox back in the 70's or 80's. He saw the potential of a graphical OS, took the ball and ran with it.

By the way I recommend EVERYONE watch Pirates of Silicon valley. It will explain in-depth the story of Apple and Microsoft.

I think from the last Samsung commercial I saw they were poking fun at the Apple fanboi's. Not every company wants to be like Apple. In fact some companies look down on Apple. Just because Apple is making money and is successful doesn't mean its the template for success for everyone else.

you got me wrong. I agree with everything you say. I was just pointing out to that guy I was replying to.

I actually think the new WP7 looks great

People want to feel secure in their blind allegiance to their corporate overlords that rule their life and define their personality and style....thus: the fanboy.

Android did copy iOS. iOS did copy Android. Anyone that can't acknowledge that is simply displaying willful ignorance.

Copying isn't bad unless it involves stealing IP. The distinction seems to be lost on this forum.

I think that Android fans on the forum have been trying to say this for years now. Nobody is denying this except the people trying to say Apple invented everything and everyone is copying them.

Poking is exactly the proof that they want (but can't obviously) and they want these fanbois badly.

If that's the case you wouldn't have Apple fanboys claiming Android is crap...can't have it both ways.

You obviously haven't used both because they are as dissimilar as they are the same.

But you post this same nonsense in every thread and it's been replied to several times, so you either don't bother to read or don't understand it, so what's the point?

They ripped off IOS, infact Google rip off everything, from everyone, I doubt they've ever had an original idea of their own
